The Stubborn Adventures of Not_Telling and her Not_Cold

Okay, why not? May as well post about my cold and my insistence on not having it. 'Course, you people are the only ones I will admit it to, so consider yourselves special!! (jk you are special I love all of you hug.gif )

Background: About a week ago my allergies had become particularly nasty. Turned out it was actually the blossoming of a cold. By the next day my nose had become unbearably stuffy and itchy and I had developed a cough. Of course, this just had to happen before the big cast meeting I ran (which I posted about in a separate thread) but I made it through that okay without raising any suspicion. Now, though, my friends have their eyebrows up. My cough has become more frequent and more chesty. My nose is more stuffy and has thus impaired my voice to the point where it is noticeable. Sometimes there's a bit of rasp in it as well. I'm very tired, and have almost fallen asleep multiple times. Obviously sniffling has a role here, but I have allergies so really it's just stuffier, more sick sounding sniffling. My breathing is all weird, and sometimes my chest gets all tight and it's hard to breathe. Not sure whether or not I have a fever. I do feel like crap, but not to the extent I can't handle. I've performed a play with the stomach flu, dance numbers and all. I can take a cold.

Although I feel miserable, and it does take a bit of work, hiding this particular cold is actually kind of fun. It's like a game. A game to see how well I can conceal my illness. But remember, game or not, this is the golden rule:

Nobody can ever know when I am sick.

Why? I don't like to complain. I don't like to drag my friends into my problems. I have so much work to do all the time, I can't afford to get sick and have people notice. I hate the fussing. These are just some of the reasons, but mostly the first two. And if somebody does happen to find out that I'm sick, I'll be able to cope AS LONG AS IT'S NOT MY PARENTS.

*shudders*

My parents thus far haven't said anything yet, but my friends have. I'm changing their names to a different language, just fyi. Let's take a look!

Lunchtime - Yesterday

I hardly ever take my lunch to school, which was good because I wasn't particularly hungry on this day. Kyara was sitting to my right, Nikorasu to my left, and Kara, Norute, and Jon across from me. Kyara was the first to take notice when I started coughing.

"You okay?"

"Yeah."

"Okay."

Later, Nikorasu and Kara were playing a game with coins and Norute was listening to music. I was coughing quite frequently, and I noticed that, although they didn't say anything, the others stole glances at me from time to time. I was talking to Kyara about my film, and after a minute I started coughing again. When I started talking my voice got all raspy.

"Sorry," I rasped, and I cleared my throat.

"S'okay. You have a cold, right?"

I shook my head. "No. I don't get sick. Except when I do. Which is not now."

Kyara laughed and so did Norute. I joined in with the laughter, and from that point was very careful to limit my coughing as much as I could.

6th Period - Yesterday

(I'll just use M for my friend because she has the same name as me)

6th period was bio, and yesterday we had a sub. I pulled my chair over and sat across from M and some other friends while we worked. M knows about my fetish and knows that I hide my sicknesses and my feelings. She's my best friend. And, of course, she can always tell whenever something's wrong, even when nobody else can.

So I was sitting across from her, working, and I'd been talking a bit about the work and whatnot. I was really tired and leaned my head against my hand, and without realizing it started to fall asleep. M startled me.

"Can you like, not fall asleep?" She suppressed a laugh.

Embarrassed, I bolted upright and flusteredly came up with some excuse, then went back to work. A few minutes later, after I talked to her about something, she looked at me suspiciously.

"Are you sick?"

"No." I answered quickly. She smiled a bit, amused.

"You sound kind of stuffy."

I shook my head. "I'm not sick." She winked at me. "I don't get sick. Except when I do. Which is not now."

M burst out laughing at what I'd said.

"I don't get sick. Except when I do..." She imitated, and laughed with the girl next to her.

"Which is not now!" I repeated. "Which is not now."

She dropped the subject, but she still probably thinks I'm sick. Which I actually am. So she's not dumb.

After School - Today

After a rough day of school, then staying after for an hour to work on some other stuff, I ran into Jasupa outside before walking home. Jasupa is really really nice. She(he)'s transgender (a boy who is biologically a girl - sometimes I forget to say he! But he is really nice to me. I remember when we were in London with the theatre group, and I was talking with him. I didn't know Jasupa that well and he'd actually made me kind of nervous. He was saying how he could be either the nicest person to you or the meanest person depending on who you were. I had no idea how Jasupa thought of me, so I nervously asked him who he was to me. He said, "You are adorable so I'm going to be the nicest person." Aw, yay! New friend. So anyway...

I went outside to walk home and I ran into Jasupa. Hadn't seen him since the London trip, so we started talking. He's really nice~ But anyway. We were talking and I told him that I was going to walk home, but I'd wait with him a bit just 'cuz I liked talking to him. Then I muffled a cough into my shoulder.

Jasupa frowned. "You okay?"

"Yeah."

He had a concerned look on his face. "Are you sick?"

"No. I don't get sick. Except when I do. Which is not now."

He seemed to accept it and we kept talking.

A few minutes later he stuck his hand out. It was sprinkling a bit.

"I don't want to keep you. It feels like it's going to rain."

"I can stay a few minutes longer." I like talking to Jasupa.

"No, I don't want you to get stuck in the rain and get sick."

"But I don't get sick." I said proudly.

"But you will get wet..."

I coughed again and he frowned even more. Eventually I lost this battle and walked home, waving bye to Jasupa as I left.

And that's all I have for today! I'll post more of my "adventures" if there are any, depending on what happens tomorrow smile.png

Hey guys, I'm sorry. I really didn't mean any harm by this and I didn't realize that this was mean/offensive. I honestly don't really know much about transgender people as I haven't met any before until this year but I will make it a point to learn more about it and be more respectful about things like pronouns and such. I am really really really sorry.
