PrettySneezes Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'm a horror movie buff, but lately it feels like I've seen everything. Would my fellow horror movie fans be willing to share some of your favorites, so I might get an idea of some good ones to watch? Please and thank you.I'll share mine...Scariest movies:The Exorcist, (hands down the scariest movie I've ever seen)Pet Semetary, (although I found the book to be 10 times more scary)Evil Dead, (but this movie had comic relief also)Sinister, (I didn't really think the storyline was all that great, but I still found it pretty scary)The Descent, (kept me on the edge of my seat) The Shining, (1980)The Ring,The Grudge,Event Horizon,Didn't Scare me, but I still Loved:Dawn of the Dead, (2004)Return of the Living Dead, (laughed my a** off)All of the Paranormal Movies,The Devil's Due,There's more of course, but this is all I can think of right now.
Sneeze999 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Not many movies scare me, but there are a couple that have creeped me out ALOT! One is 'The Sixth Sense' although I was pretty young when I watched that, so it might not creep me out as much now lol, but there is one movie that, if you want to be scared or creeped out, you simply MUST watch! It is called 'Grave Encounters' there are 2 of them but the first one is creepier, I would deffinitely recommend wathcing it!
Blah!? Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 If you liked Event Horizon, you may also enjoy Pandorum. That said, it didn't get great reviews, and I enjoy it more as a sci-fi movie than a horror movie, but you might like it anyway.
Chanel_no5 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 "Poltergeist" is still my top one. The special effects might be a bit out of date but it's creepy as hell nevertheless.
Zuki Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) *cracks knuckles and grins*This is right up my alley. I've always loved horror films and since I met my boyfriend almost two years ago, he has introduced me to foreign horror flicks that make anything hollywood comes up with look like fluff.Try out:Thirst (vampire, not overly scary but interesting) (2009)I saw the devil (2010)Audition (1999) <-- this one in particular disturbed me[Rec] (2007) the original not the hollywood version by the title Quarantine The Orphanage (2007) The house on haunted hill (1999)(this was the first horror I ever saw)I like most of the movies already mentioned, like Even Horizon which I saw not too long ago. NoV Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Pet Semetary, (although I found the book to be 10 times more scary)Yes! Glad I'm not the only one who found this film scary - the daughter in the attic freaks me out every time Ones I can recommend from the top of my head include:A Tale of Two Sisters (a South Korean film that terrified me)Nightmare on Elm Street (don't bother with any of the sequels)The Conjuring and Mama (both pretty effective modern horror movies)[Rec] (2007) the original not the hollywood version by the title QuarantineWhat Zuki said Edited June 23, 2014 by NoV
PrettySneezes Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Thank you all for your responses... Oh another one that really scared me when I first saw it was The Gate. But then again I was just a little kid when I saw it, so I don't know how scary I'd find it now. Does anyone else remember that movie?
StrangeBrew Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 The first two that come to my mind and aren't allready mentioned would be Insidious and Rest Stop (though don't bother watching rest stop 2, it's horrible, and not in a good horror way)
queercastiel Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Uhm, i'm also a horror movie buff, even though they all don't scare me, but i can give you some suggestions:The ConjuringMamaThe DevilCarrieThe Blair Witch ProjectSawYeah, thats all i can think up right now. Enjoy
Arty Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Texas chainsaw massacre...(1974 version)....that scared me!!!! And the first saw.
Bondi Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I like the Hellraiser movies...well, most of them.Audition is really good.I really like the Art of the Devil movies....well, the first one is a confusing jumbled mess, but Art of the Devil 2 and Art of the Devil 3 are really good, and they have no connection to the first one? Confusing, I know, but I guess that's how Thailand does things.
Zuki Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I like the Hellraiser movies...well, most of them.Oh! I forgot about that. My boyfriend had me watch the ... first one, I think. Definitely really cool. Also, not necessarily a horror, but really intense and stuff is "The Cube".
SterlingSilver Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Audition. Just.... Audition... xDDDDI wasn't brave enough to watch it, but I think it's actually a bit more gross/disturbing than scary. Like Saw.Except Japanese.
PrettySneezes Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Yeah, Audition is a movie that I have attempted to watch a few time, but never could make it all the way through. My Gawd!I was actually a bit disappointed in The Conjuring. The true story from the people who actually lived through it is 100 times more scary. I listened to a few interviews that one of them did on a podcast show before seeing the movie. So I guess I was expecting it it be more true to what really happened.
Sophie<3 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Good topic! (:I personally love horror movies, but not many actually manage to freak me out. I laughed during "Mama", was fine during the Shining, but anything psychological can get to me. My top three thus are: 1) The Uninvited (remake of A Tale of Two Sisters, a good one in my opinion)2) Black Swan3) Shutter Island And, completely unexpected, The Orphan really got to me. The whole "nobody except main character sees how evil she is" messes with my head every single time. Plus, the little deaf girl... I just wanted to protect her! So. These are my recommendations. Yay for horror movies!
