monochrome Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I don't really know what this is, but I wrote it anyways. There's no sneezing in this part, but there will be a lot in the next one! That's a promise~ ^^;Part 1As I make my way towards the clinic, my heart beats fiercely in my chest. Each step is harder than the last, as the crumbled gray building slowly comes into focus. What am I doing? The question echoes in my mind. But I don’t have an answer for it. It’s funny how four simple words can leave you speechless.I’ve always loved sneezes. They fascinate me, in a way I can’t explain. But that’s not always a good thing. You see that little thing up there, that thing called logic? One sneeze is enough to make it all go poof. And suddenly, nothing else matters anymore. All I can think is ‘someone sneezed.’ Then my mind proceeds to go in some directions that... err... I think I’ll just shut up now.But signing up for a cold clinic? I know people sneeze when they have colds, but...What was I even thinking?I stop in front of the door. My hand is on the doorknob, but I don’t turn it. This is my last chance to turn back... my last chance to avoid disaster.I shouldn’t be here, I tell myself. I shouldn’t do this. All I have to do is turn around, and it will all be over. But then that logic disappears, and all that’s left is the thought of sneezing.I turn the doorknob, and the door swings open.Should I continue...?
LNG17 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Yes! Definitely continue, I'd love to see whats to come
monochrome Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Part 2The room is cool, with the air conditioning blasting at full power. I walk up to the receptionist, trying to look as calm as possible.“Is this the Cold Clinic?” I stammer. The receptionist looks up, and I can see that her nose is slightly red. “Yes,” she replies. “How cad I help you?”I’m about to reply, when a strange expression crosses her face. I freeze in place. Can it be...?Her breath hitches, confirming my suspicions.“Ha... haa... haaa...”I watch in anticipation, as her breath hitches in tickly torture.“Haaa... haaaa... haaaaa...”Her eyes squeeze shut, the sneeze begging for release. Then...“HAAATTTTCHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”I stand there for a moment, too stunned to speak. Then I snap back into reality. “B-Bless you,” I stutter quickly.“Thadks.” She sniffles, blowing her nose wetly into a tissue. “Sorry, I’ve beed sdeezig all day. Is there adythidg I cad do for you?”“Um... I’d like to apply for a job.”“Of course. Please give be a mobedt.” She gathers a pile of papers. But her nose twitches, and I know she’s not done sneezing yet...“Ha... HAATTCHOOO!! HITSHIEWWW!!” She explodes, drenching the papers in spray. Then she hands them to me, seemingly oblivious to the fact that she had just sneezed all over them. “Bless you, again.” I tell her. “So, do I just fill these out?”She nods. “Yes. And thadk you... it’s hard to work at a cold clinic without catching a cold.” She turns away, catching a sneeze in her hands. “HAAATTCHOOOO!!!”I start filling out the form. Name: Alice La. Age: 18... Every so often, the silence interrupted with a massive sneeze. But of course, I don’t mind in the least. Finally, I hand the papers to her. “I’m finished.”“Thadk you. Please take a seat, by boss will see you in a bidute.” The receptionist sniffles, rubbing her index finger under her nose to prevent it from dripping. “Dow if you’ll excuse be, I deed to sdeeze agaid... HITCHOOO!! HITTCHIEWW!! Ha... HAA.. HAATTTTCHOOOOO!!!!!”I nod my thanks, finding a seat in the waiting room. I can hear her sneezing in the distance, and I’m caught between enjoyment and dread, knowing I’ll soon fall upon the same fate...This part was really fun to write TBC? ^^

ephilis Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I've seen a lot of cold clinic fics start, but very few have come to a conclusive end. The opening of this fic seems so great. I'd love if there were a continuation.
JaeChaeGi Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I don't know how I missed this one. I'd love to read more if you're up for continuing!
