SneezyHolmes Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 As of the last two years I've developed moderate to severe migraines that seem to come and go fairly regularly. My mother has a history of severe migraines and even takes doctor prescribed medication for it so at first I wasn't too concerned but I've started having muscle spasms in my hands and fingers as well and horrible nausea on top of that. My menstruation has also been somewhat off. I took two different medications at work today and neither nixed the pain at all. Now I did make the rookie mistake of googling brain tumor symptoms and signs and these seem to correlate too well for my liking. I plan on making a doctor's appointment but for right now am I being too paranoid or are my fears within reason? Cancer runs in my family as well and I suppose that adds to this fear too. I don't know what i'm looking for here, advice maybe? Or some reassuring. I have a fear of dying and i'm just worried that this could be serious and potentially turn into something terminal. Sorry if this comes off as too paranoid, my anxiety is running rampant right now..
Leafeon78 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Maybe you should get it checked out I get headaches and migraines all the time and it can make you feel sick and don't worry I have a fear of dying as well and I'm sure many people do hope you get better soon.

I know it can make me feel sick haha, i'm just worried since I have muscle spasms and the such but thank you nonetheless.
Leafeon78 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Your welcome and for the muscle spasms they will go away it happens every so often Glad I could help a little though
bloom Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Honestly, migraines can fuck you up. My friend used to go numb on one side of her face when she had migraines, so muscle spasms and tingling don't seem totally out of the question with a really hardcore migraine. I mean, definitely go see a doctor, because chances are they can put you on some kind of maintenance medication to prevent them from happening so often, but it probably is "just" migraines. They can be seriously debilitating, though.Step away from Dr. Google, it will only fill your head with lies and the idea of cancer.
cally Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 As someone who has had a headache for every day for the past 9 years, please go see your GP. They can put your mind at ease and hopefully prescribe you something more effective. Headaches are the worst. Good luck.
Nola Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I don't want to scare you, but you should go see a doctor if this pain feels different than what you're used to. An old colleague of mine who had some serious headaches went to the doctor just in time before her aneurysm ruptured. And told me to tell everyone with headaches should go to their doctor if it feels really, really bad. Just in case. Now, I personally don't think it is anything other than a migraine considering what everyone who has experienced them goes through, but in either case, migraine or no, get it checked out. It never hurts to go and see. And, as others said, a doctor can certainly help you choose which medicines will work well with your migraines. Feel better!

It starts off as dull but then after a few hours, it's pulsing and throbbing to the point of me being physically sick. Thank you though!
Sharpie Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I hope you're prescribed something that works better for migraines, if you really feel like it could be something series, talk to a doctor about it. I hope they're not anything series, chances are they aren't though. I really hope you feel better in the future.
SneezyHolmes Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Maybe have it checked out and talk to someone about it, if you haven't done so.That's just what I would do.Whatever happens, I hope things work out well for you Thank you! Mum says its from too much time in front of electronics but i'm still gonna get it checked out just in case.
Melody Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 (edited) Hey! I just came here to add my bit in! First of all, I've had headaches and migraines everyday of my life for about eight years. I've had lots and lots of migraines and I would just like to say how deeply sorry I am that this is happening to you. Now I have found migraines and there symptoms are different depending on the situation and your surroundings. There's a whole list of symptoms that come along with migraines. Now with the pain your describing, it does sound severe enough to see a GP. In fact anyone who has migraines should see a GP to figure out ways to stop them. With the spasms in your muscles, I have expirenced that before with migraines. I have also expirenced fainting temporary blindness, auras and extreme nausea with migraines. Now I'm not saying any of these are common, because they are not, but I think maybe these things you are feeling are just under the umbrella of migraine symptoms. Of course, I could be very wrong, so I would definiently see a doctor. There are also a ton of triggers for migraines! Have you noticed a certain pattern or symptom with your migraines? Once you figure that out it could really help lessen the pain and the other terrible symptoms. I really hope things get better for you. Migraines are so extremely painful. If you would ever like to vent or just talk to someone about anything really, my pm box is always open. And I have a fair bit of expirence with migraines and how to prevent them. I'm all for brainstorming ways to stop your personal migraines with you again if you ever want to chat about it, feel free. Edited August 8, 2015 by Melody
