Soaking feet

Does anyone else find the image of someone with a bad cold soaking their feet and wrapped in blankets incredibly hot?

I think it's more of a cartoon stereotype to relieve symptoms than anything but it's always been an image I have been fond of.

The sight of Captain Hook with his feet in the hot water and a thermometer in his mouth probably helped to start me down this dark path, so yes. Super hot.

I totally forgot about this! Love it though. It comes from that myth that having cold feet causes cold symptoms, right? Very cute!

I think of Captain Hook too . I never understood that when I was little, but I liked it. I definitely love the classic, cartoony things. Another favorite of mine is an ice bag or cold cloth over someone's head. I also miss the days of glass thermometers. The big digital thermometers just aren't as aesthetically pleasing. I love that image of a sick person with a little thermometer sticking out of their mouth. In the fantasies of my brain, thermometers are still little glass sticks.

I totally forgot about Captain Hook! I don't remember being excited by that image as a kid…probably because I found him a bit scary!

I definitely love this trope, though! I agree that it's even better with a thermometer in the mouth!

So it sounds like if most people like this image it stems from a cartoon or clear fantasy, not necessarily the image in real life? Thanks for the feedback!

In the fantasies of my brain, thermometers are still little glass sticks.

I just needed to get to say that I've got a little glass stick thermometer. Actually I've got two. I used to have a really old one with quicksilver inside but that one broke (whoops).

Anyway. It's definitely a nice image. Very cartoon-y and I wouldn't enjoy it outside of cartoons but still very cute.

I just love the image of someone wrapped up with his feet in a bowl of hot water!! Possibly with a scarf on as well. And I still have a glass thermometer in my medicine cabinet ready for the day when a sniffly man turns up at my front door having been caught in the rain.

Oh goodness yes. And the image of sniffling from specifically getting wet in the rain is so distracting. One good sneeze from a character (or my boyfriend ) who is either soaking his feet or was caught in the rain and I can't concentrate on anything for the rest of the day.

I also agree with the capt.hook thing from when I was a kid. I'd watch that part over and over again

I know I'm late to the game, but this is my favorite. It rarely ever is a cute girl that gets this treatment in comics or cartoons , but it's one of my fantasies.

I like the image of a forehead being felt for fever.  The other things mentioned so far (soaking feet, thermometers) I'm indifferent to.
