Horrible summer cold

I never ever get summer colds, but I have a terrible one right now. It started on Friday with an awful sand-papery sore throat as I was flying home from a trip. The sore throat lasted about two days, then moved into a gross phlegmy cough on Saturday and Sunday, and migrated to my head yesterday. The achy-ness is worse than the winter colds I've had in recent memory--I feel really awful and intensely dehydrated. It's like I can feel all the bones in my face shifting around to accommodate the sinus pressure. While I'm horribly, suffocatingly congested (my voice is so congested sounding my SO can't understand what I'm saying half the time), it's a relatively "dry" cold, and blowing my nose, though productive and periodically necessary, just adds to the pressure in my face without opening a passageway to breath. I can literally hear my sinuses "creaking" as I write this. I get a few minutes of relief from the congestion after each sneeze, but breathing through my nostril (only the left one clears for more than a few seconds) causes the most unbearable burning/prickling sensation that makes my eyes tear up and which almost immediately leads to my nose stuffing up again.

The sneezes are congested, with the same "deep" sound as my sick-voice. I can feel them coming for a good 30 seconds before they let loose--usually in singles or doubles, but I had a poorly-stifled triple in bed this morning trying not to wake up my SO (I failed). Today I am sneezing about every 10-20 minutes--more often when I get up and walk around. But I have a constant pre-sneeze tickle in the back of my nose that's driving me out of my mind.

Wish me luck, guys. I haven't been this sick in a long time.

Ahhh the creaking sinuses! I'd forgotten that bit of evil about bad colds…. O_o
