Favourite Youtubers (especially gaming)

I thought it might be fun to have a thread where we share some of our favourite Youtube channels. I've posted a few of mine below, with a link to a video from each one. Please post your own!

This isn't meant to be a thread just about gaming channels- your choices can be any subject. You might ask why all of my choices are video-game related channels (with the exception of Ashens, who covers games, but not as his main 'thing'). Though I have other interests, video games are the one thing that I find is heavily covered on Youtube and not well catered for in the rest of the media.

Warning: some of these channels contain a lot of bad language (particularly AVGN who has made excessive swearing one of his trademarks). Please be aware of this before you click the links.

In no particular order:

The Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN):

I've got to put this guy first, as he was the first Youtuber I ever followed, and he got me into watching funny videos on Youtube. The Nerd (James Rolfe) angrily reviews bad video games, mainly from the 8-bit era. He wasn't the first guy to review games on Youtube, and I don't think he was even the first 'angry reviewer', but his videos are (in my opinion) some of the funniest. The earlier videos are the best.

Example video- The Power Glove

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hfHc0uZAIM&list=PLbQ-gSLYQEc6IWgKJNOMUONgtNXdwVcDC&index=14

Ashens:

Stuart Ashen has made a Youtube career out of reviewing 'tat', usually meaning low quality items bought from pound shops. This may sound like the most boring idea ever, but his dry presenting style is funny- and some of the products he reviews have to be seen to be believed.

Example video- Poundland Special- Bag of Crap:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcFQF3PZFRk (a long video but just watch the first bit with the 'iPhone speaker' .)

Guru Larry:

Another guy who makes funny videos about video games; this time from a more British perspective, for example covering games from 1980s British home computers. He doesn't produce as many videos as some, but has some quirky original content that you won't get anywhere else.

Example video- British Gaming Ripoffs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN9LYpgfXqs (I think you'll have to be British and my age or older to understand why a Wimpy restaurant-themed game is funny)

Kim Justice:

Another amateur video game reviewer; but Kim Justice's coverage of games sticks out for me. He clearly has a big passion for the subject and a lot of knowledge- but also a real knack for explaining the history of a series of games and how it evolved as times changed. I don't agree with all of his opinions on games, but it's always interesting to hear them.

Example video- Tomb Radier Series Review- Part 1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQlzeUZd7YI (a long video, but worth just watching the first few minutes on how the game market was changing with the release of the Playstation 1, and how this was one of the few times gaming was officially 'cool')

Tennings:

This is a guy I've only just discovered. He's another 'angry reviewer' of games- and while there may be thousands of these now, this is the funniest one I've seen in a while. Most of his videos (and there aren't very many) are reviews of PS2 shovelware, and there is some great material there- for example, the truly awful "Robin Hood's Quest" which I have linked below.

Nice idea for a thread, Heath!

Cryaotic (Cry) is my bae. He does video game commentary and, occasionally, readings of horror short stories (complete with excellent voice-acting and atmospheric music/sound effects). Lovely, soothing voice, charmingly rambly commentary and low-key, self-deprecating humour. 10/10 would recommend.

Example videos: Cry plays Limbo; Cry reads I'm a 911 operator.

The Dom with his show "Lost in Adaption" is a recent favourite of mine. He looks at movie adaptions of books and discusses the changes that happen in the transition from book page to silver screen. Highly entertaining as well as interesting and insightful.

Example video: A series of Unfortunate Events

"Look. It's Gandalf's hat."

Seriously, I've been laughing like an idiot for the past ten minutes thinking about an iPhone amplifier that looks like an ear-trumpet (and Gandalf's hat). Ashens is officially my favourite Youtuber now...

Pewdipie was the first youtube gamer I saw. I loved when he would play the scary games like outlast and legitimately get scared. Markiplier was another one too and he's so nice. Oh and Yamimash!!and TFS gaming (team four star)

I literally only like the Two Best Friends Play videos, those guys kill me. Most Youtubers don't anything for me, though.

I have a bunch that I follow, no gamers though, since I've actually never played video games and never understood the thrill about them.

I do follow, however:

Thoughty2 (as lesbian as I am, I seriously melt inside when the guy winks at the end of his videos. Also, those of you with a thing for voices and accents, you'll like him. Promise.)

Just a boy (I feel like I want to be best buddies with this guy, he seems awesome!)

SciShow (nerd haven, say no more!! Also they have a video about why pepper makes us sneeze! Just that! )

My favorite would probably have to be Somecallmejohnny, he's a game reviewer inspired by the likes of the AVGN (though he doesn't do the angry schtick). I started following him years ago, he's gotten pretty popular since then.

Another one i would mention is retsupurae, they're pretty much Mystery Science Theater for bad let's plays and bad games.

Also, it's not really a Youtube channel, but Game Center CX! It's a Japanese TV show, there are episodes of it on Youtube. It's basically a comedian who plays through classic games, but he's really bad at them. It's... endearing, in a way.

I wasn't going to reply at first because the only youtuber(s) whose stuff I ever really watch speak Finnish in their videos, lol.

But.

LaeppaVika post both humorous and more serious lets play/other such videos. Like I said it all is mostly in Finnish.
