sneezelove123 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Sorry if this has been posted, I'm new here, but does anyone ever have any trouble just saying the word?
bingochamp7 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Yes, I absolutely refuse to say the word if I can help it. It's worse than the word moist.
Melody Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) It's worse than the word moist.I'm sorry but this was too relatable... the word moist just no! Still doesn't beat saying sneeze though. Edited September 5, 2015 by Harmony
decrescendo Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I used to be horrified to say it in any context but I slowly trained myself to be more comfortable with it in the interest of carrying on sneezy conversations! It still feels odd to say, and it's much easier to type than it is to say.
MoonDuck Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I do! xD I used to try to avoid saying it a lot, and even when I did I always thought I sounded really weird, like I put emphasis on it. "sneeze." I've found that as I say it more (in context, not just like "sneeze sneeze sneeze sneeze," it gets easier to do. I don't understand why "moist" bothers some people so much. Moist.
Juto Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Yeah, I don't use "sneeze" either, only in written form. But I still find it worse to say in my native language which is "nyse"! It's just one of those words that make me cringe and hastily book my ticket to Timbuktu! I don't get the fuss about "moist" though! I kinda like the way just saying the word makes my face smile. I get that the meaning of the word itself can be a bit.., *ahem*... Nasty? But I don't mind it one bit!
mutini Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Oh yeah, totally. I can say it, but it feels weird and awkward. Although I find it just as weird to hear the word when it's brought up in casual conversation. I guess cause it's very much not a casual word to me. xD
PuddinPop Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I hate saying it too. I can say it if I really need to (I work in a medical related job and sometimes I need to for some things). However, I have trouble with a lot of words, not just sneeze: - tissues - hay fever - hanky/handkerchief - congestionYou get the idea I used to have a real problem with writing things in fiction related to sneezing. I think the main part of that was that it was all so totally things that I would never say, so they sounded ridiculous to me when reading back but I finally got over that and now have no shame with what I write xD
StaraiRoalanstjay Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I alter the way I say 'sneeze' to make myself feel more comfortable saying it out loud. I tend to say 'thneeze' and make it much quieter than the rest of the sentence. Sounds weird, but considering I couldn't even say it at all when I was younger, I think it's a huge improvement. I used to hate the word 'hankie' as well, but I've always been fine with 'handkerchief'. Weird, isn't it?
NoV Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I used to find having to say the word almost crippling when I was little and in my teens. Even now, I still get a small jolt of uncomfortable nerves if I have to say it in front of anyone but with age has come an unbreakable poker face
ukrsneeze Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I can't say this word aloud too :\I get too embarassed even If someone says itI use it only in the written form, too
MaiMai Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I can't say the word or most words even remotely related to it. I can't even type it most of the time. The only exceptions are when I'm writing fics, but even then I tend to try and avoid it. I usually just refer to everything of that nature as 'on-topic-ness'.
Nervous-Bean Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Oh yes. No way can I even SAY that word without blushing. XD I also can NOT EVER IN ANY WAY pull off a fake sneeze. Like. HOW. ITS IMPOSSIBLE
smooshi Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I have no trouble at all saying it in English, but I do in my native language and in every other foreign language I speak (French and German, and I guess that I would feel awkward saying "sternutatio" while reading a Latin text aloud). It may sound odd, but English is the only language I use to discuss fetish and it seems that Da Big Scary Word has lost its impact over time.
ginger1 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Yeah, that's definitely weird for me, but I can manage to say it. I really have trouble with blessing people. It just feels so awkward, especially if it's in a quiet room. I feel like people can tell by the way I say it or something.
TwinklingStars053 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Yes I feel this way too. It's impossible for me to pronounce it correctly when I say it out loud. I absolutely hate saying it out loud!!
levinelover Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I really cannot say it. If anyone starts talking about sneezing or a cold or allergies I automatically freeze up. I'm super vague and awkward in my responses because I feel uncomfortable directly saying something about their sneezes/cold/whatever. Its a good possibility that I have never actually said the word sneeze out loud in years.
jffangirl777 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I hate saying it... I just feel that someone is going to figure out that I have sneeze fetish if I say sneeze even though that is highly unlikely.
bonanocrien Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Oh god. Yes I feel so uncomfortable saying it, you're not alone, I have gotten better with age it still just makes me jumpy haha!
Scion Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Haha, absolutely. I can assure you that in my 25 years of life I have never said that word aloud even one time.
BananaTree Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Haha, absolutely. I can assure you that in my 25 years of life I have never said that word aloud even one time. "Excuse me, I have to expulse air out of my nose in a hilarious fashion...eh-chuu!" sneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezeMoist doesn't bother me at all. But yeah the word sneeze is hard for me to say. I don't say it very often...or like all. Just realized that now. Huh. But I live with my mom who says it several times a day.... But I have a question...if you have a SO that knows the fetish or shares it, do you say it then?
