Bashfulnewbie
Hi, I'm new. I was wondering if anyone had ever used ragweed to induce. And if so, how did you find the ragweed? I've tried most of the inducing methods and they don't work for me. Black pepper, white pepper. I tried grinding up black pepper in my coffee grinder to make it finer. I don't have money to order chhinkni. I do have allergies but not the sneezy kind usually. I lived in one place that made me sneeze all the time which I'm pretty sure was the dust so I've tried inducing with household dust and nada... I do remember ragweed making me sneeze though. I've even tried googling to see if you can buy ragweed seeds lol, kind of ridiculous. And then tried to Google to figure out locations of ragweed locally but nothing (thought maybe I might find something like allergy sufferers beware, avoid these areas). I've been able to induce a single sneeze or two with the kleenex method but it's not really enjoyable. I'm really wishing when my allergies were worse I had known I had this fetish! Link to comment
alias
Welcome to the forum! I'd say your best bet for the ragweed is probably just to learn to identify it, then for out and look for it. Since it is a weed, I doubt anyone would be selling it to grow. More likely, they'll be selling herbicides to get rid of it, since its pollen affects so many people. Be careful though if you choose to induce with an allergen. It's always unpredictable how your body will react, especially if you intentionally expose yourself to it, and you don't want to endanger yourself with a severe allergic reaction. For inducing, I would suggest the rolled up tissue method, but instead of using kleenex, try a napkin or paper towel. They are drier than facial tissues, so they're usually more effective. Another tool I and a lot of others have found the most success with is the plastic part of a clothing tag.Good luck! Glad to have you here! Link to comment
Bashfulnewbie
Thanks, I don't enjoy inducing that way at all though. When I do have allergic sneezes (especially multiples) I enjoy them. Maybe next spring I should just try with some regular pollen like from dandelions. I'm allergic to dust but when I've tried inducing with that it didn't work, I must already be desensitized to my own household dust lol. Link to comment
decrescendo
I've looked into it, and there are some places you can buy ragweed seeds (here, for example). If you do try to grow ragweed, however, do try to keep it isolated as it's notorious for proliferating and spreading. Good luck!! Link to comment

Klingon
I' wasn't referring to you in my earlier comments sneezenewbie I meant non sneeze fetish people! what kind of idiot (not sneeze fetish people) would want to plant that stuff. only a sneeze fetishist would have any use for that stuff and in most cases it would be questionable morally (except for like in your case self inducement) any-one who isn't a sneeze fetish person would be an absolute idiot for buying that stuff! Medowsweet
I would not recommend -growing- a plant you are allergic to. You would then have to deal with it all the time. You also can become immune by over exposure (my brother is allergic to all cats except his own. If his cat dies and he gets a new one it takes a few months for him to stop being allergic to it. Also like you and your personal dust)Instead buy some ragweed already cut (or ask one of us to mail you some, tons of people here would be happy to help in this particular favor)But the best, safest thing to do is have some in a zip lock baggie to use or put away at your digression Link to comment
