Luisa39 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 The original Phantom of the Opera, Michael Crawford, talks about how he concealed a sneeze he couldn't hold back during a performance in Los Angeles in 1990. The relevant part starts at about 9:27. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OWci9N7okk
gingerdean Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Aww, that's so cute and funny! I love how he talked about how he couldn't stop it, so he just incorporated the sneeze into his performance (And I'm a big Michael Crawford fan, so I actually watched this entire twenty minute video, lol.) Thanks for posting!
Ali Marie Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 That's hilarious! It's also only the second time I've heard of actor failing to hold back a sneeze while on performing stage; it doesn't surprise me that Micheal would sort of improv. If I'm not mistaken, his character (Cornelius something-or-other) sneezes twice while hiding in the closet in the film adaptation of Hello Dolly and they're very well acted out sound wise.

Oh yeah, I remember that! He sneezes twice in the closet after being tickled with a feather. And then another character Barnaby sneezes right afterwards, while hiding under a table.

For anyone interested, I found them here! http://putlockers.ch/watch-hello-dolly-online-free-putlocker.html @ 50 min - 51 min I had never seen the movie before and am very thankful for you two for giving me the motivation to watch it! Barbra Streisand as Dolly is legitimately hilarious xDDD I adored her performance.

Thanks for posting! I'm a fan, too: his voice is divine. My favorite is his Andrew Lloyd Webber album from 1992 or so.

Cornelius Hackl. I remember seeing a professional production of Hello, Dolly! when I was a teenager. The actor who played Cornelius sneezed in a way that was so obviously fake. He was good otherwise, as I recall, but...that sneeze of his just made me cringe.
