Never has a man suffered so publicly from "small man syndrome" than Hammond. You will never see anyone try so hard to be "blokey" that it's embarrassing.

That's an interesting criteria indeed. I do wonder if it only applies to gay men. I mean, does he mean only gay people eat ice cream? Or gay men and straight women? But what about gay women, then? And the straight men... what do they eat when everybody else enjoys a nice ice cream? And does this apply to milkshakes as well? Frappés too? Iced coffee? Iced tea? Where do we draw the line?

Or, just maybe... eating ice cream has absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation? *le gasp*  

Poor guy.  

 

ETA: Oh my God now I'm craving ice cream so bad!

Poor little Hamster.  I think what he was trying to say was something like "It's unusual to see a mature male person licking an icecream cone or an ice lolly, isn't it.?  Some people might perceive it as effeminate or childish, much as reading Harry Potter was widely disapproved of by close-minded people and very masculine women."

Okay, I may be dating myself, but I thought it was quiche. Now it's ice cream? Or is it quiche and ice cream? Maybe it's ice cream quiche? Perhaps quiche ice cream? Whatever, it must have something to do with eggs... which women have. Wait! Are women gay?

Often in books and/movies ice cream is the common comfort for broken-hearted females. So yeah...

But in all seriousness, men have tried to make the idea of ice cream more manly though Hammond suggest they failed since he still found it gay. 

When men order ice cream it's not a 'scoop' no no... it's a "BALL" giving it a sporty and more manly quality. And then it's never just one ball, no no... it more often than not becomes a contest of how many balls can fit into the standard waffle  (and don't even get me started on the explosion of topping ) and be eaten before they melt. 

Ultimately it must also be the reason for ice cream TRUCKS!! A weak attempt to give the multicoloured musicbox on wheels selling the delicious (and gay apparently) frozen treats made from cow's produce an injection of pure testosterone.

HMM...I was wondering how to eat icecream in a really masculine way, and my brain sort of exploded.

One could go down the local and have say three pints of gassy beer before lunch and order a "ploughman's" with slices of cheddar and lime pickle ["too strong for me, but I like the men who eat it"]  THEN, one could order as afters a good apple crumble topped with a slice of vanilla icecream, and another pint.

I think that would be butch enough...
