Falling In Love All Over Again // Part 2/?

Hi friends! I thought I'd try my hand in some original fiction starting out the new year! Here's a little about the characters-

Luca Carlisle: Twenty seven years old, from Constanta Romania. Came to the States at age fourteen. He's currently working as a pediatric emergency doctor at the children's hospital. Basically looks like Sebastian Stan, but when he wasn't beefed up for Marvel. Has been dating Jeremy for five years, and engaged for four months. He tends to not get sick often, but when he does he goes all out. He's allergic to cats and some colognes.

Jeremy Matthews: Twenty eight years old. Grew up in Ohio and met Luca in college. Jeremy works for a tech company. He's african american, muscled and well built. He's about two inches taller than Luca and is a cuddle bug. He tends to get colds every few months and is allergic to pollen, ragweed and dust.

***********

Luca was in the middle of a clinic session with a child and her mother when he felt an itch blossom in his sinuses. It was late fall, nearing the middle of December and it seemed as though clinic duty held hundreds of little children with over protective and nervous parents who decided that a runny nose and cough warranted a doctors visit. Simply put, Luca had been ushering in and out kids with colds all day. He'd of course had the few kids with higher temperatures or ear infections, a tummy ache or two, but mostly it was sniffling, sneezing and coughing.

He was used to it all. He'd been working at Saint Mary's Hospital for almost two years now and the clinic around fall and winter was always overrun with colds. Moving to grab his stethoscope off the desk across from the wooden bench the little girl sat on, he sniffled a bit, the itch not letting up. Quickly, Luca buried his face into the crook of his arm, taking a shaky inhale.

"Hehh'NGXTCHH'huh!"

"Bless me," Luca said, feeling a blush creep up onto his cheeks and down his neck. He hated sneezing in public, felt as though it'd be seen as weakness especially as a doctor. He grabbed a new pair of gloves and pulled them on, walking back over to the little girl.

The mother blessed him. "I'm sure being a doctor must be awful this time of year, coming in contact with so many germs," she said.

Luca shrugged, listening to the girls breaths. "It's not bad. I've been a doctor long enough my immune system is pretty good against germs," he said before listening to the girl cough.

He straightened back up.

"Looks like just a run of the mill cold. She should be good to go back to school when she feels well enough, I can give you a doctors note," he assured, writing out an excuse on white paper. Handing it to the mom, he waved them goodbye as they walked out. Sighing, he sat back down on the black stool and rubbed his eyes. He suddenly felt tired, like it was the end of his shift, even though he'd only been on duty three hours. The itch blossomed in his sinuses again and he let out a small noise, feeling annoyed and desperate. Rubbing his slim nostrils, he inhaled softly.

"Ehh'ITSHH! huh'PTCHH'uhh!" The itch still bothering him, he rubbed the underside of his nose again, dampening the hem of his purple button down ever so slightly.

"nn'XTThuh!" Stifling the last sneeze, a compulsion he'd been accustomed to in Romania, he felt his head grow a tad stuffy. Snuffling, the man tried to brush the feeling off and went to wash his hands again.

*********

Jeremy heard the front door open from the kitchen. He was working on lasagna, a good warm meal for the cold night that was bringing snow with it. Humming softly to the Tony Bennett song playing from the record player he'd bought his fiance for his birthday last year, the tall man finished layering the noodles, cheese and sauce and popped the dish in the oven. Not seconds after he stood back up, he felt Luca wrap his arms around him from behind, cold hands finding his own.

"Hi baby," Jeremy said, shifting so he could flip around. Luca gave him a small tired smile, leaning forward to rest his head against Jere's shoulder.

"Mm, hi love," Luca whispered, allowing his body to relax against the others. Jeremy carded his fingers through Luca's hair, pressing a kiss to his forehead.

"Long day? You look beat."

Luca merely nodded.

"Lots of clinic duty, lots of sick kihhh-" Luca pulled back slowly, not as fast to react from his tired body. His nostrils quivered and his eyes fluttered shut as he brought his wrist up to shield his mouth and nose.

"hih'KSTCHH! Bless me-mehh he'GXT!!"

He caught both his sneezes against his pale wrist, sniffling wetly. His nose had started dripping the past half hour or so, an annoying development that made Luca thoroughly agitated.

"Bless you honey," Jeremy said, slightly surprised. In the five years they'd dated, Jere could have counted how many times he'd seen Luca sneeze on two hands. In all honesty though, he couldn't help but be attracted to it slightly. The always put together doctor trying to stop the inevitable. It was hot. Sue him. He rubbed his boyfriends back, feeling the slight shiver that ran down Luca's spine.

"You feelin' okay champ?"

Luca nodded, eyebrows knitting together. "Yeah? Of course I am....maybe a little cold from the snow that I walked through to get into the house but," the Romanian shrugged, not understanding why the other man would be asking. Sure he was a little tired, but his shift had been early, especially after the shift he'd had the night before.

Jeremy had a feeling his fiance was coming down with something, but he decided to see how he was doing later. He knew Luca had been working longer hours at odd times, and he also knew it was probably wearing on his poor immune system. There was only so much one could take before loosing. He brushed a strand of hair from the younger's face, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "I love you."

"Love you too, dork."

***********

They decided on relaxing on the couch a few hours later, plates of eaten lasagna resting on the coffee table in front of them. Jeremy had his arm wrapped around Luca, the other curled into a nest of warm blankets. Luca had always been cold natured, and he hated winter. Hated anything colder than sixty degrees. He could practically feel the cold seeping into his bones when the colder months came. Resting the side of his face on Jere's torso, he yawned and rubbed his eyes, feeling them droop right after. His nose still felt a little stuffy and he sniffled experimentally. Bad idea.

He was too tired to really move as the tickle invaded his senses. He pressed his face a little further against Jeremy's body, shifting so he was more under the mans armpit. Rubbing his nose tiredly against the soft fabric of his shirt, Luca sniffled again,.

"Ugggh, ehh....huhh'MPTCHHH! eITCHHH! Mm, t-tickles Jerehhh-gu'XXXGT!"

Luca shuddered as he stifled the sneezes against Jeremy's body, the tickle finally abating.

Jeremy looked down at Luca who was obviously barely awake. He felt his heart swell and he ruffled the mans hair affectionately.

"Baby, I think it's time for bed..." Jeremy spoke gently, trying to rouse the other man to get up. Luca made an offended noise before finally opening his eyes.

"I fell asleep? Sorry, I didn't mean too," he spoke, feeling upset with himself.

"Hey, don't worry, you need it. Come on, bed, let's go babe."

Luca got up after a moment, pulling the gray fuzzy blanket around his shoulders. His blue eyes were sleep-bleary and Jeremy swore he fell in love all over again as Luca padded to their bedroom, the whole time holding his hand. He also could tell no doubt that Luca was definitely coming down with something now. He had heard a slight hint of congestion in the others voice and while Luca was usually tired from work, he never fell asleep. It was rare, even if he did feel poorly.

Crawling in bed, he wrapped his arms around Luca's torso and pressed a kiss to his shoulder. "Sleep baby, I got you."

Luca was asleep within moments, small congested snores coming soon after.

Oh very sweet these two are. I love that Jeremy knows what is happening to Luca before Luca does.  Feel free to continue this. I would like to read more about these guys.

Thanks guys! I'm so so so glad you all like it. I definitely have more things to come with them in different scenarios. But for now, here's part two!

Warning: This chapter does contain a bit of medical talk due to Luca's job. A little girl comes in due to a dog bite, is panicking a bit. Slight mentions of blood and mentions of stitches, but nothing graphic!

Luca's alarm went off at six am, alerting him that he had an hour before he needed to be leaving for work. It wasn't Luca who awoke though. Jeremy's eyes fluttered open on the fifth ring of Luca's phone. Grumbling softly, feeling around, the man managed to find the device and shut the alarm off. Why the hell did his fiance have to get up so early every single day?

Thinking about Luca, Jere looked over to the other man who, surprisingly, was still fast asleep. Out of the both of them, the younger was the better at getting up, sticking to a schedule. He may not be a morning person, but Luca at least was able to have enough will power to actually get up on time and not lie in warm blankets until the last possible second.

Until today, it seemed.

Jeremy scooted closer and pressed a kiss to Luca's head. "Babe, s'time t'get up," he mumbled, feeling drowsy once again. The other made a small noise, sniffling thickly and burrowing deeper into the covers. Thoughtfully, the older of the two gently pressed a hand to his fiance's forehead. It wasn''t hot, and he couldn't tell if the slight warmth was actually an elevated temperature or just a result from being in warm blankets. Sighing, Jeremy tried again, knowing Luca would be upset if he didn't at least wake him up enough to get him to understand the time.

"Honey...it's six o'clock..." He let his hand travel up and down Luca's shoulder, gently trying to wake him up. A moment later, Luca's eyes fluttered open blearily.

"Shit," he mumbled, voice low from sleep, congestion seeping into his tone, though it wouldn't be obvious to anyone but Jeremy.

"Thanks for waking me baby, you should go back to sleep," the man sat up, rubbing his eyes, adjusting them to the darkness of their room. Jeremy made a noise and lowered himself back into the warm blankets, eyes shutting. He knew he probably wouldn't fall back asleep, but he was still tired and wanted to enjoy the bed while he still could.

Luca got out after pressing a kiss to Jeremy's cheek, stretching a bit. He rubbed at his nose that was running, probably from the cold air in the house, he thought as he moved to the bathroom to shower. He showered every morning, something he did as an indulgence. Growing up in Romania during time of communism left Luca and his family poor and struggling. Being in America now, living in what he thought to be a huge apartment....it made him feel absolutely grateful for everything.

As he stepped under the warm spray, steam wound around him, enough to tickle his already sensitive nose. He paused where he was, hand slightly outstretched to get his shampoo and his eyes fluttered shut.

"Huh....ehhhh..." Luca rubbed at his nose, water wet fingers rubbing the delicate underside, trying to work the tickle out.

"Fu-Fuhhh...eh'GXXT! huhhhh.." The unbearable tickle made Luca forget where he was for a second and he slipped against the slick bottom of the tub. Much like a puppy, he flailed about, managing to regain his balance before letting out another stuffed up

"Ehh'XTSHH'huhhh!

In the adjoining bedroom, Jeremy frowned, hearing his soon to be husbands muffled sneezes. He felt like he should be forcing him to stay home. He wanted to wrap his poor guy in blankets and feed him soup. But Luca was far too stubborn to take a sick day, let alone acknowledge he was sick. Sighing, Jeremy got up and decided it would be nice of him to at least help Luca in any way he could.

Padding to their kitchen, the older man worked on setting out some blueberries, raspberries, plums and chia seeds, along with  yogurt and cacao powder. He began making a smoothie for the other man, knowing it would be easiest for him to take on the run with him.

With it being December, Luca pulled on black slacks and a gray button down, slipping on a sweater Jeremy's mother had given him for his birthday. A small shiver tore through him as his wet hair dripped onto the towel around his neck. Sniffling, his runny nose making him annoyed, Luca went and dried his hair, knowing he'd be late if he took any longer. Ten minutes later he walked into the kitchen, pausing a moment when he saw Jeremy standing there in his boxers, making a smoothie for him.

"Love," he cooed softly, moving closer so he could wrap his arms around Jeremy tightly. He pressed a kiss to his lips, smiling up at him. "Thank you...you didn't-"

Jeremy shook his head, running blunt finger nails against Luca's scalp, making the man visibly relax. "I did. You were already running a little late, it's the least I could do honey," he promised. Luca merely made a small noise and allowed himself to take a second to lean into his fiance. The tired feeling hit him again and for a moment Luca thought about calling into work and taking a day off. His eyes felt heavy and his body was slightly achy, likely from all the work he'd been doing this past week. His runny, stuffed up nose coupled with the slight twinge in his throat made him just want to lie down, but he didn't have time.

Struggling to fully wake back up, Luca pulled away and rubbed his eyes, giving a small smile to Jeremy.

"I love yehhh" Luca's nostrils flared slightly and his eyes snapped shut, a tickle making it self known suddenly. He rubbed at his itchy nose with the back of his hand, though it didn't seem to help. Jeremy couldn't help but smile a bit, rubbing his fiance's back.

"Tickle?"

Luca nodded, eyes opening just slightly. Jeremy felt himself smile despite himself. The way his guy looked so helpless, not able to do anything because of the tickle in his nose, eyes bleary and unfocused....he swore he felt himself fall for him again.

"Just a lihh-little tickhuhhh-" Luca interrupted himself with a small sniffle, obviously doing nothing for him besides exacerbating the tickle. Jeremy reached around to the desk near their kitchen. grabbing a few tissues from the rarely used box, handing them to the still struggling younger man.

Luca took the tissues gratefully, pressing them against his twitching nostrils.

"huh'GXNT! ehh....heh'XGT! oh, s-sorehhh- huhh'EGSTCHH! ...sorrehy.." With a liquid sniff, the man blew his nose softly, trying not to gross Jere out in any way. When had he become so congested?

"Jesus, bless me, I'm sorry, I don't know what just set me ohhh" With a small irritated noise, Luca brought the damp tissues back to his nose and he rubbed at his nostrils through the fabric, trying to find some relief.

Jeremy watched the oblivious boy allow himself to succumb to another small ticklish fit.

"Ehhg'TCHH! guhh'XXXGt! fu-fugk mbehhh heh'IGGTCHH'huhhh!!"

The last sneeze had sounded a bit more harsh, wetter and more desperate. Luca looked up after a moment of blowing his nose, congestion dissipating in his voice.

"You didn't bring a cat in here right?" he asked, licking his lips.

Jeremy laughed, fond and sweet, pulling Luca closer. Of course he still didn't understand he was getting sick.

"Nope, no cats. Maybe you're coming down with something sweetheart," he suggested, watching Luca's eyebrows furrow.

"I feel fine..."

Jeremy merely rolled his eyes but was struck with what time it was seconds after.

"Shit, you're going to be late..."

Luca cussed in Romanian and kissed Jeremy's cheek. He picked up his smoothie and then rushed out the door, damp tissue still crumpled in his hand. Jeremy realized he probably could have used a few more.

***********

"We have a seven year old female, canine bites to the arm and shoulder," A nurse called out as herself and two others walked past the station where Luca was talking to another one of his colleagues. Luca instantly was by their sides, walking quickly to bay one where the ambulance would be arriving any second. Adrenaline coursed through Luca's body, something that happened every time he worked on a child, no matter how many times he'd done it.

As the little girl came in, crying and obviously distressed, Luca allowed the nurses to take a better look at the bites while he got close into the girls line of vision.

"Hi Julie, it's Julie right?" He asked, voice calm and kind. The little girl nodded, still crying. He ran a gloved hand down her cheek, wiping away some tears.

"Julie, it's gonna be okay, I know it's scary, and your arm hurts. I'm Dr.Luca, I'm going to make sure you feel all better, okay?" He promised, earning a small nod. As they wheeled her into a room, he looked down to asses her arm. "Do you think you can try and move it honey? Just a little, I want to make sure that the dog didn't hurt your muscle," he explained.

Julie managed to move her arm a little, sobbing loudly.

"Good job Jules, you're doing really great," Luca assured, grabbing some gauze and wound cleaning pads. He carefully but quickly used the iodine to clean out any germs from the dogs bite, earning a strangled howl from the girl.

"I know, I know. I'm not being very nice right now making you hurt more. Here, you think you can hold my hand? I get kind of scared too sometimes, making sweet kiddos like you in pain." Jules shakily took his free hand in her uninjured one, squeezing it as the pain came. Luca worked methodically until all the blood was mostly cleaned up.

"So I'm going to give you some stitches, but they'll be clear and you won't feel anything because I'm going to have my friend, Nurse Katie, put some gel around your arm to make it numb," he explained carefully, making sure the girl was looking at him and not the wound. Julie nodded, calming down slightly.

The rest of the time went by fast and painlessly. Julie seemed to relax more, tired from the excitement and crying. By the time they finished stitching her up she was half asleep and her mom and dad were walking in.

"Julie was very brave," Luca told the mother quietly, giving her a reassuring smile. "She even helped me not be so scared by holding my hand."

The mother seemed beyond grateful, tears in her eyes as she thanked him. Luca smiled and nodded. It was his job of course, he couldn't just watch a child be in pain. He went to say goodbye to Julie when a tickle bloomed in his sinuses. Trying to act fast, he pulled the hem of his shirt up over his face, letting out a muffled triple.

"eh'NNXGT! huh'KTCHH! E-Excuhh huh'NXGTCH!! Excuse mbe," Luca said, flushing a bright pink on his cheeks and down his neck. The mother blessed him and he managed to say goodbye to his new little friend before beelining for the door, another tickle making itself known.

Katie walked over to talk about how everything had gone but Luca was shaking his head and holding up a finger.

"So-Sorry, one secohh-second..huh'GTCHH! geh'XGGT! huh....b-blehh-bless mbe-hu'ITCHH'huhh!"

Katie had already grabbed a few tissues by the end of his little fit, handing them to the embarrassed doctor. Luca took them gratefully, refusing to look at her as he blew his tender nose, sniffling a bit. The adrenaline was crashing and Luca suddenly felt exhausted, bone weary in a way he wasn't used to.

"You alright Doc?" Katie asked, eyebrows furrowed together. Luca gave her a nod, trying to ward off another tickle that buzzed in the back of his stuffed up head.

"Da, yes...so-sorry....I'm not sure wh-whehh'GTCHH!" Luca caught the sneeze in the soddened tissues, nose pressed firmly up against the soft fabric. He felt a shiver tear through him and he sighed, finally recomposing himself.

"I'm sorry Katie, please forgive me." he said, feeling completely embarrassed.

"It's no worry Luca, really. Though you sound as if you're coming down with something, maybe you should take the rest of the day off? I'm sure Andrew wouldn't mind..."

Luca's mind flashed to his superior and he shook his head. He didn't want to be a bother. "I'm alright Katie but thank you. Just a tickle is all, probably something the father was wearing," he shrugged, heading to the locker rooms to splash some cold water one his face.

**********

By the time Luca walked into his and Jeremy's apartment, the idea of him coming down with a cold seemed fairly high. His throat had become raw throughout the day, the body aches only increased and his nose, god, his nose. It seemed as though it wouldn't stop running and every little sniffle and brush of his fingers set it off into another ticklish dose of sneezes.

Kicking off his shoes and hanging up his jacket, Luca dug out a few crumpled, relatively clean tissues from his pants pocket and tugged the cloth to his nose. He let out a low gurgley blow, the pressure in his head making him feel more than a little dizzy. Luca leaned against the wall for a moment, regaining his composure before he walked farther into his and Jeremy's little place. It was warm, the fire was going and Jere was sitting on the couch, reading a book. There was homemade chicken noodle soup on the stove and Luca swore he could cry from the domestic love he felt for his fiance.

"Hey love," Luca spoke quietly, walking over, tissue still held firmly in place. Jeremy looked up and cooed, setting his book down.

"Hey champ, you alright?" Jeremy asked, even though he knew the answer. Luca looked at him a moment, as if he was struggling for an answer before sighing.

"I dond't feel to hot," the man admitted, flopping down next to Jeremy, burrowing close to his warmth.

"I know honey, I'm so sorry. I made soup, if you feel up to it. You get off work tomorrow?"

Luca nodded, breath hitching before he could respond. Jeremy merely rubbed Luca's shoulder.

"Let it out babe, your poor nose. Caught yourself one hell of a cold," he murmured as Luca pressed a little closer.

"T-Tihh-Tigckly...in mby he-heaah'gh'TCHH! In mby head...ohh-huh'GTSHH! eh'ITCHH'huhhh!"

Luca opened his eyes and realized that Jeremy had moved his hand to secure the tissues against his nose. He let one of his own hands fly up to rest against the others, pressing the tissues up against his sensitive nose.

"Jere...huhhh-gehh'NXXGGT! huh'TCHHH! eh'GSTCHH! oh gohhh-god-ih'STCHH!"

By the time he'd finished, Jeremy had somehow swapped the messy tissues for new clean ones, one hand holding onto them, the other rubbing his fiance's back.

"I think it's time to get someone into bed and let me take care of them."

Luca merely nodded, feeling his body give up. He felt to sick and miserable to do much else other than give into Jeremy's request.

Ok 1) I love how he blesses himself. 2) they are adorable! Also I'm a sucker for the term of endearment "love" so you're hitting a lot of things for me with this

Wonderful second part with Doctor Luca and his gorgeous and caring partner Jeremy. Can't wait for the care-taking-part.

Spoiler

(Will there be fever-scenes? Is it too much to hope for?)

This continues to be adorable. I found Luca's denial very amusing, but I'm glad he's finally giving in. I have confidence Jeremy is going to take care of him as he deserves.
