Luisa39 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) ...whether it's a person you know or a celebrity, do you ever try to imagine what that sneeze would sound like? I imagine that, yes, this is something of a pastime for many of us here (I know it is for me!). My main question, then, is, what "starting point," or clue, do you use to imagine what the person's sneeze would sound like? Do you make your predictions based on the sound of a person's voice, on her/his personality, or on something else? And do you generally find that your predictions are accurate? D-DOG Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I would say the sneeze is based on the voice, looks and things like nation or culture (there are also accents of sneezing). If the girls looks cute and has a lovely voice, she probably has a cute sneeze. I suppose it's also the same with guys ?
Chanel_no5 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 While I know looks has nothing to do with it, I think I usually start there. Like, I picture them about to sneeze. That way my imagination provides me with things such as would they cover/how they would cover, would there be buildup, would they act embarrassed or just excuse themselves, and from there I'd think if the person acts embarrassed they'd probably try to stifle or suppress the sneeze as well as they can. Hopefully failing to do that. Of course I consider the voice too, but I've heard so many people whose sneezes don't match their voices at all, so I don't strictly go by that. As for whether my predictions are correct; I wouldn't know. I've still never seen any of the people sneeze that I've spent time pondering what their sneeze would be like. Celebrities and real life people alike.
•.*°•☆. Q .☆•°*.• Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Usually i go with like, the timbre of their voice, and how "loud" their personality is. Most of the time i'm wrong, but it never fails for good fantasy material! hard to guess how someone will sound tbh, it's such a random thing
Clark Kent Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I obviously try the prediction thing but i mainly find that my predictions are awful and a lot of the time i'm left disappointed!

haymaker Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 (edited) I like to do this, but it seems I'm as often wrong as I am right. For example there is lady I have been working with recently who has a very soft voice and is rather frail. I predicted a weak cough like sneeze, but when I finally got to witness one it was a fairly 'heavy' stifle; a bit of a body bender and actually quite horny. Edited January 26, 2017 by haymaker
Alicia2 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I'm so glad it's not just me who does this! I base it on personality a little bit but I don't necessarily give a quiet person a quiet sneeze, sometimes I like a bit of contrast, if a loud sneeze would embarrass a quiet person then I often want to see that, even though I would hate it to happen to me. I base it on appearance too and nose shape but my mood has a lot to do with it too and I don't always imagine the same type of sneeze for the same person as not everyone sneezes exactly the same all the time I hardly ever find out if I'm right or not about sneezes but I'm quite often wrong about nose blowing, I knew a girl who was really loud in everything she did, loud shouter, loud talker, loud cryer, always stomping around the place but her nose blow was so quiet I could hardly hear anything. Then there was a very quiet girl with a very soft voice who didn't usually like to draw attention to herself but she has the loudest honk I've ever heard, if she's on the floor above you it's still loud! So I'm sure my guesses about sneezing are equally wrong. Maybe someone could make a thread with names or pics and we could all describe the sneeze we expect and see if we all agree? We could put our guesses as spoilers to make sure we don't see anyone else's guesses before we put our own?
MysteryGirl Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I do this. All. The. Time. This is so relatable. Take school for example. There are wayyy too many people who I would love to hear sneeze, and allergy season, although this may sound insensitive, is my favorite time of year. I've been waiting to see a sneeze from a cute guy in two of my classes, thinking about how he would carry it out, and today he was super sniffly and stuffed up. He sits behind me a bit, and I heard him get up a couple times when we were taking a test. He went to the corner and blew his nose a couple times. (I'm sorry I can't do an observation here because I'm not into nose blowing). After about 5 minutes, I felt the breeze as he passed my desk as he drew in a sharp breath and sneezed, somewhat covered, and the perfect volume. At that point I literally gave up focusing on French and waited to see if there would be another. He passed my desk another couple times and crossed the room for a tissue. He had to come back to my side to throw away the tissue, and he stood there, facing everyone as he finished blowing. I heard another sharp breath in *yes!* and immediately looked up, catching some of the build-up and the release into the tissue Sorry for the obs, but it was kind of the way I pictured him sneezing, except I would have assumed a stifle from him :/ It just goes to show my skills of guessing people's sneezes, which are zero to none, sadly (single tear)
March Hare Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Imagining how certain people would sneeze is one of my favourite things to do. There's a guy I'm casually dating, and he's been doing a lot of coughing and sniffling but nary a sneeze all this time and I am just gagging for it by now. So I keep trying to picture what it'll look like, what it'll sound like, volume, frequency, et cetera. It's not even the next best thing, but it's something. With some people, it's REALLY hard to imagine how they would sneeze, though. Has anyone else noticed this?

Often I have trouble picturing very "poised" or "dignified" people sneezing.
CeruleanBlue Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I mostly just replay specific sneezes in my mind and really, really hope certain people sneeze again (why did everyone get healthy again? Everyone was sick a minute ago and now no one is. Now that I sit next to all the cute guys). And silently hope that people get sick or have allergies. I have done that too, guessing how guys' sneezes might sound, but I'm usually wrong. This guy who I would have guessed would have had a normal-ish but slightly non-masculine sneeze or a weird sneeze, I was really wrong about. He sneezed, like, once recently, and it was shockingly masculine, which is basically the type I least expected.
