Friend

A while ago I worked as a teacher for a time, and I ended up becoming pretty good friend with my co-teacher, M. He is a cross between nerd and a bad boy: super smart but also gregarious, tattooed, and muscular, with dirty blond hair and piercing blue eyes. We shared an office together, and I soon came to adore his sneezy fits, which whether due to allergies or due to colds, seemed to happen with some regularity. He is one of those people who can fill out a room with his personality, and his sneezes definitely lived up to that - loud and wet and uncovered.

One time, we were trying to coordinate office hours and were then going to paste them on our door. I was sitting on my desk talking to him, while he was a few feet away from me, standing at the door writing out a sign-up sheet. He was sniffing his usual pre-sneeze, loud hrrrssshh, hrrrshhhh, hrsssshhh, trying to clear his nostrils, holding one nostril shut at a time to try to clear his nose. As normal, this didn't work. A few minutes later, he turned to his left (from the door) and stood with a pained pre-sneeze expression on his face, his eyes closed, nostrils expanding, and lips moving back, before letting rip with almost screamed ARGHCHHHHH, ARCHHHHHHHH sneezes directed directly in front of him, a generous sprinking of spray visibly sinking over our our coffee table. He let out an exuberant "whew!", I blessed him, and then he got back to work.

He always talked about how his dad is a doctor, so I always wondered how he could be so blatantly unhygienic. Then again, maybe he was just enjoyed being a bad boy.
