Brief mentions of sneeze spray and nose-blowing.
Sawyer Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Aw, this is so cool! There's a big spot in my heart for poker, and combining poker with colds makes it so romantic. I'll be thinking about this for a while!
Anonymouse Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Oh dude, I'd love to try to draw something like this. *adds to her stack of unfulfilled goals* Pretty cool idea for an experiment, although not one I'd volunteer for personally. Though I'll enjoy reading the results at a safe distance.
SleepingPhlox Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Ohhhh, this will be a beautiful scenario to daydream about. Not the experiment bit, but if it were a situation that happened to occur organically and...yeah, my brain is going to have fun with this concept.
Wig_Powder Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 (edited) Interesting article, for sure, though it doesn't exactly explain what the scientists were trying to prove. That being said, I've definitely heard of similar experiments. I once stumbled across a magazine in a thrift store that had, as it's main article, a story about the science of catching cold. Two of the experiments I remember the article discussing were 1) having a mix of healthy and sick people in a room and have them talk, sneeze, and (oddly enough) sing freely, and 2) have people (one sick, the other not) kiss each other. If I'm remembering correctly, not as many people got sick from those experiments as you might think. (Obviously, the article has stuck with me, but I was too embarrassed at the time to buy it. I kind of regret that now. Maybe it's time to try googling for it...) EDIT: While I haven't found the article I was thinking of, I did find another article about the poker experiment that gives a little more detail as to what the intent was. Check it out; http://www.nytimes.com/1987/11/24/science/tracking-the-common-cold-two-theories.html Edited January 28, 2017 by Wig_Powder Found article I wanted to link to
