taléya* Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Hello everybody I hope you are all doing well. First I have to admit I don't have allergies and as I mentioned I live in a Country with an Atlantic climate and in truth I never catch any colds. But I have question about hayfever or allergies and I don't know someone to ask for and in fairness I don't want to. It would be so nice if someone could answer me. I wanted to ask you, do you feel a difference between your allergy sneezes and your cold sneezes or sudden 'causeless' sneezes? Do you think the urge to sneeze is more intense when you are suffering from allergic reactions? Do you think your sneezes are more powerful to get rid of the allergens? And a friend of me told me once - she is highly allergic to cat fur, pollen and dust - if she is bothered by her allergies there is only a dust particle needed and she starts sneezing for minutes - do you agree with her? Is it right that your nose is irritated faster? And how often do you get an allergy sneezing fit? I am so sorry for so many questions and my english, please be nice I really really commiserate with all of you during allergy season, I promise. Take care and best wishes
Clark Kent Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Don't be sorry for the questions - it's a forum for discussion after all. i suffer from hayfever so grass pollen and flower pollen kills me and am allergic to dust. There is absolutely a difference between allergy fits and a "causeless" one. A regular, non allergy one i will feel the tickle, know it is potentially coming, go through a whole build up routine with however many hitches are needed and follow a regular pattern and once that has cleared it is completely over and i can get on with the rest of my life If pollen or dust get inside my nose it immediately feels different. Sharper, like it is irritating the whole of my face, not just my nose and the only way to get rid of it is to explode. The build up is much quicker and the spacing out between them is much less as one always follows another and they are always extremely powerful. I have much less control over them and it is almost impossible to hold any back. It usually ends up being a high number until it stops no matter what i do. It renders me out of control and a disgusting shameful mess. Thankfully for me this is very much a Summer based issue and Summer is a rarity where i live! It's something i hate happening in public ..... or driving! No need for commiserations! after all it is a trade off for enjoying seeing it on others Hope that helps and no need to worry about your English, it is very impressive and far and above what most of us could manage in anything aside from English.

There was a recent thread where this topic was touched on, so I copied the link below. I hope it helps a little I have seasonal allergies, but I rarely ever sneeze in fits under any circumstance. With allergies, I mostly just get really itchy in my eyes, nose, ears and throat, which is really annoying. And I tend to get headaches, and my eyes water a lot. When I sneeze, it usually takes me a little while to build up to it. The best I can explain it is this: The itchiness often tends to start on the 'periphery' of my nose, so at first it will just be really itchy without any sneezing. Eventually, the itch will sometimes work it's way up to the sensitive part of my nose, and I'll sneeze (either once or twice, normally). But my sneezes tend to stay spaced out quite a bit, they don't tend to be very frequent. Sometimes I won't even sneeze at all. That's my personal experience, anyway. I know many other people tend to sneeze a lot more from their allergies than I do - which makes me kind of sad, because it's the only part of having allergies that I actually enjoy

I am sorry the posts exists twice now, I just wanted to know some experiences cause I never get ill or have allergies. don't be sad, I can understand that sneezing will be a part of your allergies you would enjoy most. But isn't it more imortant that you don't feel too bad during allergy season? Anyway, thank you a lot for your reply.

Oh, don't be sorry! Your post isn't the same as that other one. I just remembered that one part of your question being similar, so I thought it would be helpful for you to see it. It's no problem 4 hours ago, taléya** said: don't be sad, I can understand that sneezing will be a part of your allergies you would enjoy most. I just think that since I have to deal with the other symptoms, it would be kind of nice if I could get a little more sneezing out of it Oh well. They say be careful what you wish for, so I guess I should just accept it for what it is and leave it be. Edited December 22, 2017 by gingerdean
SneezyKateM Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I did talk about the difference between my allergy and cold sneezes in that other thread too. The urge to sneeze is definitely more intense and more often from allergies. I don't think they are any more powerful than my cold sneezes, but they certainly are more often. Your friend sounds a bit like me - my nose gets very sensite to everything with allergies and I do have a lot of long fits. It's like this ichiness/irritation that starts to feel it's everywhere and it needs to explode and there is no stopping it, like Superman said
Ben Drowned Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 @taléya** it's fine for me it's more explosive my sneezes are more random when it's my allergies, there a lot more tickly and forceful I have dust and pollen allergies I'm also allergic to bar yard hay my sneezes are way more out of control. I feel it more in the sensitive spot in my nose when it's my allergies
