Ya'll know that feeling when you make a character, somewhat forgot about him, then remember him again like a year later? Yeah, I forgot about my warlock boy, Malek, so I figured I'd practice expressions with him! :)

Your OCs are always so original and creative!  Two things I like:  the shading for the dark eye circles, omg!  And the different expressions.  You are so freaking good at that!  Also digging the angle of the nose in the topmost picture-there is something just ever so slightly deliciously naughty about a little peek at the nostrils during an impending sneeze.

Thank you! :D And I just adore that slight glimpse of the nostrils before a sneeze!

Your OC looks really interesting! MY favorite would have to be the third one actually. He's not sneezy at all, but gives you a great look at the character! I would love to know more about him if possible!

Thank you and of course! I'll pm you what I have written up for his character when I get home! :)

EDIT: Whoops you can't receive messages so I'll just comment his info here I suppose! :o

Name: Malek Posel a.k.a ‘The Blind Man’s Son’ (Last name translates to ‘Harbinger’)

Age: Old (Over 1,400 years old)

Weight: About 210 despite how thin and somewhat frail he appears

Height: 6’4

Personality: Stand-offish, sarcastic, lonely, easily worried, rude, blunt, and often enough easily agitated/quick to anger

EARLY CHILDHOOD --

Born in 1408 to a noble father and a poor, seamstress mother, he is the product of a wild and torrid affair; it is not quite understood how Malek came to have his powers. Some say that his father once made a deal with the devil himself, leading to both the loss of his eyesight and the subsequent curse of his first born son while others claimed that Malek is nothing but the pure sin of his parent’s affair, a token from hell itself meant to remind them of their adulterous actions.

Shortly after his birth, his mother passed from blood loss and his father rather unwillingly took to raising him alone. As could be expected, Malek was kept locked away from the public and other children, constantly berated every chance given for being an ‘abomination’ and ‘the devil’s handiwork’. This negative attention would later lend itself to his personality and outlook of those around him and it wasn’t until his father’s death approximately ten years later that Malek began venturing outside, exposing himself to an even more spiteful world.

TEEN YEARS --

With his father’s sudden and odd death, his riches slowly dwindled and the members of his court quickly dispersed, leaving a young and bitter Malek to fend for himself. Unfortunately, without any wealth, the manor quickly fell into disrepair and was ultimately reclaimed by the village King to help cover the back taxes that had accumulated on it. Malek, indifferent to his father’s home, set out across the countryside in search of his own place in the world. At this point in his life, his powers have manifested further and increased in severity. His halo has also become more prominent as well as the jewel on his forehead.

A year or two passed, the young warlock bouncing back and forth between villages and hostels. He eventually meets an elder witch by the name of ‘Baba’ who takes him in and more or less raises him and helps to curb his hostility towards the mortals. At first, he’s closed off and prefers to stay locked in his room but soon enough he warms up to her and even respects her powers and abilities. Under her guidance, Malek’s own powers finish developing and he develops a taste for alchemy and scientific research regarding his own existence.

ADULTHOOD TO CURRENT DAY --

Malek stayed with Baba for the next 30 or so years until her eventual death, a result of her magic slowly overtaking her form and more or less consuming her. Her death left him reeling emotionally and mentally, resulting in a slight snap of his mental state. He stayed locked away in her shack, too involved in his research and studies to bother going outside or interacting with anyone. When asked about Baba or his relationship with her, Malek will avoid the topic adamantly or even go as far as to aggressively shut the conversation down. His reluctance to discuss the old woman can be entirely chalked up to the fact that he is not over her death and misses her dearly.

Unfortunately times were quickly changing around him, requiring him to move on from both his home country and Baba’s shack. To protect his warlock status, he set the shack ablaze and never looked back, once again finding himself wandering in search of a new home. He never truly settled in any one place for overly long until he met his current ‘best friend’ and roommate, Dalic (pronounced ‘Dah-Lick’), a Djinn who somehow tolerates Malek’s snippy and often rude personality. They both reside in a split apartment, one house that is divided into two abodes, in San Francisco (Much to Malek’s disgust. He prefers his own home country but according to Dalic, ‘he’s better off here’).

As of present day, Malek wheels and deals in magic and spell casting. He creates glamour rings for the local mythicals, rings that allow the wearer to masquerade as human or animal. In exchange for his services, his customers either pay in the form of their soul or in the form of miniscule tasks such as gathering ingredients for his potions or finding new customers. Dalic doesn’t agree with these payments but that does not seem to stop Malek or change his outlook in anyway.

BONUS INFO --

Malek is subject to what is referred to as ‘Magic Back-Up’ which occurs whenever witches or warlocks go a prolonged period of time without casting spells or using their magic in general. Without an outlet, the magic will continue to build resulting in flu like symptoms such as a mild to high grade fever and increased sneezing and coughing that results in the built up magic being violently expelled and used. The magic will also erupt on it’s own, much to the magical being’s disdain. He relies heavily on Dalic when this occurs.

In addition to ‘Magic Back-Up’, he is capable of catching human ailments such as colds and the like. This results in him being a mild to moderate germaphobe despite how messy he keeps his home. When he’s ill is about the only time that his normally awful personality is replaced by one of clinginess, submission to a certain degree, and general fussiness. Dalic is well versed in Malek’s body language and can generally tell the moment his friend is starting to feel unwell or if something is wrong/bothering him.

In his free time, Malek enjoys reading ancient texts and manuscripts or knitting. He also has obtained a pet crocodile that he affectionately refers to as ‘Zhltat’ which translates to ‘Devour’ and a Crow/Magpie hybrid named ‘úmrtí’ which translates to ‘Death’.
