Best way to clear out sinuses / remove pressure?

So I just had a cold this past week, and while I’m definitely over it, I still have some congestion / sinus pressure.

What’s a good way to help with this? I’ve been taking Mucinex but it’s not really doing anything. I don’t know if I didn’t get the correct variety or what lol. Are there any other good over-the-counter methods that you guys could recommend? I’d like to avoid a trip to the doctor if possible.

Saline solution and Neti pot (or at least the same principle, if you don't own one). I'm not sure of the measurements for the saline, but I'm sure you can look it up online. Make sure you don't use too cold water though, keep it lukewarm, or it's going to feel really unpleasant.

Either that, or accidentally get a mouthful of Listerine up your nose. Definitely not recommended as it hurts so much you think you just died, but man, it clears out everything!

*quietly pouring listerine into neti pot as I have a permanent clogged nose*

I mentioned it as a joke, dude, don't try it. It hurts so bad you feel like your heart stops.

Thank you EVER so much. For the record, it was an accident. It did clear out everything to the point where I may very well have been able to smell Mars, though. I always did wonder where that iron oxide smell came from...

Oh dear! It is very rare for me to laugh out loud at something I read on the internet, but this had me laughing! Oh and the methane mixed in with the iron oxide sure is a delicious blend! B)

I was in the bathroom at the time, the methane addition had a completely natural cause. Oh God, that's not very ladylike.

Sorry, all. I shall stop threadjacking now.

12 hr pseudoephedrine works for me

I don’t have any over the counter recommendations, but.... try eating spicy food! It makes your nose run so it really helps to get rid of a stuffy nose temporarily. Taking a shower or going swimming always works for me as well.

I tend to try to take a hot shower and also massage my face where I know my sinuses are located. It helps relieve some of the pressure, but it doesn't fix it entirely. Also, you could attempt to use a Neti pot or something equivalent to clean out your sinuses. It helped me tremendously when I used to do voice lessons.

I have a hard time with my sinuses too - chronic congestion from allergies and sinus structure issues.  Not much works for me, but taking alot of Sudafed and long hot showers helps me more than anything else.
