Just wanted to say - if anyone needs a tool that speeds up the video more than YouTube's X2, then you can use this

(up to x16)

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/youtube-playback-speed-co/hdannnflhlmdablckfkjpleikpphncik?hl=ru

And if you need to look for only long videos, (sorting by length) for example streams, etc, you can use this tool

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/youtube-time-filter/bafpllbamajknogcdbecmgflnbmdbbep

These tools are for Chrome Desktop.

Wanted to say that both ycd and yxd tools work as they should now. Please update (pip install --upgrade ycd and then yxd) and enjoy the sneeze world together with ytcomments and tcd for twitch!

When you  type 'sneeze' in the search box in this page, it now changes to say 'Bless You' instead of 'Search'... it still works, just a funny little easter egg.

I wonder if the creator has been keeping tabs on searches and knows what it's being used for 😅

Weird, I tried this and it's still search... But yes, he may be able to see the requests 😅

Just wanted to share Facebook lifehack:

google catches facebook live videos captions so you can type something like "gonna sneeze", then switch to videos, longer than 20 minutes and choose facebook sources - seems like there are many sneezes to catch!

https://www.google.com/search?q="stop+sneezing"&newwindow=1&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUA963UA964&tbs=dur:l,srcf:H4sIAAAAAAAAAB2LSwrAIAwFb-OmIPVIMfVHNU-MpfT2haxmYJgjE6cI3J4xXImDPVZxvFBFGb3tphmPXLQbxJqkV3Wn3mnZRHMaP6rhDKY_1c3Z7XlYAAAA&tbm=vid&sxsrf=APq-WBsXYq_BnfI9HFCjDFSXT2VdQhsOuQ:1644324311695&ei=12UCYtLrKaGQxc8PqryhkAs&start=120&sa=N&ved=2ahUKEwiSs_mzkfD1AhUhSPEDHSpeCLI4ZBDy0wN6BAgBEF8&biw=1920&bih=961&dpr=1

but Idk how to get the time stamp so you need to click through the video

(seacrh example)

There are tools to search the comments and live chat people post on youtube videos.  But is there any way to search the auto-generated captions/subtitles that youtube creates for videos?

Link to comment

Yeah! If you install yxd with python, that program works basically the same way as tcd and ycd. But it searches the captions! The install instructions are somewhere back in this thread.

That is great! I was using a similar method to find youtube videos.

There are much productive methods for YouTube like the combination of ycd + yxd + ytcomments :)

You can click on "..." below the youtube video and choose "Open transcript" and then command-F to search.

For the facebook and youtube captions you can also use something like downsub.com to download the *.srt.  But is there an automated way to download the *.srt's for all of the videos in a particular youtube channel or facebook page?

For example "t r a d e c h a t" has many videos on her facebook page.  Is there an automated way to download the *.srt for all of them so I can search through them?

Use yxd tool for that!  It automatically scans the complete channel

This is great.  Thanks for the heads up!

The method described here seems to work for downloading the captions for a facebook video as an *.srt which includes timstamps.

https://digitalanarchy.com/blog/art-technology/downloading-the-captions-facebook-or-youtube-creates/

I tried this for facebook and it didn't work.. maybe it worked before the new facebook interface

It does work.  You have to change the URL to m.facebook.com (the mobile site version of the page).  Open the web developer tools in firefox to start logging network traffic, then refresh the page and start playing the video.  You will see the link to the *.srt file show up (if it is available).  The other benefit of m.facebook.com is you can jump ahead in the video by 10 second intervals simply by pressing the right arrow key (similar to youtube player).

Facebook is a pain.  A lot of videos it won't allow you to view the m.facebook.com version.  Or it won't let you view them without making a facebook account and logging in.  Some videos it seems like you can only view them if you are NOT logged in.  And a lot of videos won't display the captions, even though facebook must have had captions for them at some point for them to show up in the google search.

Anyway, thanks for the info in this thread.  I finally got yxd working after all this time and I'm starting to find some good clips.  I think my problem is you never mentioned what version of python was required, so I had installed a very old one that didn't support ycd/yxd/tcd/etc...

thanks. will try that

you can always ask me if help is needed. ycd by the way works just the same way, but for live videos on the channel that have chat box on the right. (like tcd for twitch)

I thought it's understandable that you just download the last Python version and it works....

anyway, enjoy :)

I can't use latest python because I'm on windows 7.  But python 3.8.10 is the latest version that still works with windows 7, and I can use that to run yxd.  Anyway, thanks for your help and info.

So sadly the API used by tcd has been shut down, which means that until the developer makes a different version it's unusable. Luckily I found a site that can download chats!

https://vods.online/twitch_chat.php

I posted the solution for that

Oki-doki, so all the tools for twitch and youtube are working as of today.  I decided to post some updated instrcutions for you for Windows, Linux  and Mac

Windows:

tcd tool for twitch chat

1. Go to https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/ and get the latest version for your PC, while installing don't forget to tick   Install PATH in the beginning

2. Go to https://git-scm.com/download/win and download Git for your PC.  (just click next - next during installation) - needed for twitch tool, tcd

2. Open Power Shell. Enter for tcd:

(if you have the tool installed that throws an error, delete them with

pip uninstall tcd twitch-python )

pip install -e git+https://github.com/sotif/Twitch-Python.git@master#egg=Twitch-Python

pip install -e git+https://github.com/bspammer/Twitch-Chat-Downloader.git@master#egg=tcd

tcd

In case it asks you for twitch client id and client secret, step 5 here can help https://www.sneezefetishforum.com/topic/74690-new-way-to-get-youtube-stuff/page/7/#comment-932485)

3. if it just opened the tool, you can try entering the command:

tcd -c channelname --first=5

example:

tcd -c aktep --first=5

it should work!

ycd and yxd tools for youtube

just Python installed needed. be sure you have completed the 1st step above.

2. For downloading archived chats:

pip install ycd

ycd

type yes

when it asks for youtube api key, get it from step 5 from the link I posted above

3. For downloading closed captions (auto generated subtitles by youtube)

pip install yxd

next process is the same.

usage

ycd -c channellink --first=50

yxd -c channellink --first=50

example:

ycd -c https://www.youtube.com/c/TyroneMagnus --first=100

yxd -c https://www.youtube.com/c/TyroneMagnus --first=100

For looking through the files use NotePad!

3. Install python with

brew install python@3.10

follow the process, after its done

4. Install git with

brew install git

5. Install the twitch tcd tool

pip3 install -e git+https://github.com/sotif/Twitch-Python.git@master#egg=Twitch-Python

pip3 install -e git+https://github.com/bspammer/Twitch-Chat-Downloader.git@master#egg=tcd

tcd

repeat the needed process from the post above

6. Install the youtube tools

pip3 install ycd

pip3 install yxd

I'm not sure why and if my previous post was deleted, but you don't need to install git anymore.

Windows & Linux (python is pre installed on Linux)

pip install tcd

Mac

pip3 install tcd

WOW I just found FETISHIST'S  DREAM WEBSITE!

This site searches all the captions through millions of YouTube videos! And directs you directly to the minute with your phrase!

Also you can mention the channel you want. So it basically works like yxd tool but much faster

Please enjoy it with me. ❤️
