Dance With The Devil In The Pale Moonlight (Secret Santa for EvaBloom~!)

So, this is my first time doing original fiction. I have to admit that I was a little nervous, but it was a lot of fun! For those of you who know me know that I love long stories, so this one will have a lot of parts. I’d like to post the first one now and I really help you like it EvaBloom~!

The gray cloudy sky above promised a chance of rain. However, for the time being, it was a quiet evening that promised a quiet night. There was almost no movements in the streets for the people were most likely making preparations for the upcoming holiday. Unfortunately, not everyone had people to spend the holiday with and those loners stuck out like a sore thumb in the small town.

Down a small alleyway, a middle aged man stood propped against the wall. A lit cigarette was pressed between his pointers and middle finger. The man brought it up to his lips and took in a deep breath. A sudden cough racked his body and he ducked down into a fist to allow the fit to pass, smoke slightly flooding from his mouth. Once he finally regained his breath he gave a small sniffle and brought the cigarette back up to his mouth to try it again.

He wasn’t sure how long he had been standing there when he noticed someone approaching him. He kept his gaze shied away from whoever was approaching. The last thing that he wanted was forced conversation. He was hanging out here so that he didn’t need to socialize with anyone. Apparently who ever was approaching him hadn’t gotten the memo.

    “Sawyer?”

The man took another puff from a cigarette while trying to swallow a few coughs that threatened to bubble from within him. “Who’s asking,” he grumbled.

The younger man crept forward and placed a hand on his chest. “I’m Teddy. I-I’m from university, in your Economics class.”

Sawyer pressed a hand against his forehead, the one without the cigarette. “Economics.”

“Yeah.” Teddy paused in embarrassment. “You are Sawyer Granes, right? Professor Brewns GA?” He scuffed his foot against the ground as Swayer rubbed against the tip of his nose, hardly paying attention. “I mean, I know that it’s a rather large class and all, but I-“

Teddy suddenly trailed off as Sawyer ducked forward into his hand, pinching his nose shut. “Hxxxh! Hxxxh! Hxxxh!”

“Bless you,” exclaimed Teddy in surprise.

Sawyer gave a curt nod as he brought up the cigarette to his mouth. He took another puff of it and looked up to the sky, patiently waiting for Teddy to make himself scarce. However, Teddy not only seemed content where he was, but he felt the need to almost push himself closer to Sawyer. He stood against the wall so that their shoulders were almost touching, despite Swayer’s best efforts to pull away and lean against the end of the building.

“So, what brings you out tonight,” Teddy continued, trying his best to make small talk with the man that he had admired from the first day that he laid eyes on Sawyer, not that he would ever admit it to the much more intimidating man.

Sawyer swallowed a few coughs and rolled his eyes. “I got nowhere else to go. Therefore I stay here,” he answered dryly.

Teddy rubbed at the back of his neck as Sawyer swallowed a few more coughs. Once again, he rubbed the tip of his slightly reddish nose against his wrist. “Oh, well, you probably shouldn’t be out if you’re sick, you know.”

“I’m not sick,” Sawyer snapped with a clear edge to his voice.

Teddy took a step away, but it was still close enough to how Sawyer that he wasn’t leaving. He knew he was testing the waters, but he couldn’t stop himself from inquiring more. “Well, you sound like you’re sick. I mean the coughing and the-“

Suddenly, Sawyer ducked once more with his head almost crushed into his shoulder. “Hxxch! Hxxxch! Hxxxch! Hxxch!

    “-Sneezing,” Teddy finished.

Frustration showed on Sawyer’s face as he gritted his teeth, his nose now helplessly dripping. He pulled out a handkerchief from his back pocket and rubbed it against his nose before giving it a slight blow. He tucked it back into his pocket when he was finished and turned back to his cigarette. He tapped the tip as the burnt pieces fell off before bringing it back to his lips. He breathed in and that caused his chest to almost tighten as he lurched forward, coughing helplessly into his raised fist. His entire body shook with each cough and tears collected in the corner of his eyes due to the sudden jarring. His body protested as much as it could.

Despite himself, Teddy leaned forward and started to rub at Sawyer’s back. He felt the tight shoulders muscles leading to the center of his back. He held his breath as he did so, almost not believing what he was doing. It was too late to turn back and he started to beat on his back to ease the flaring annoyance in his lungs.

    “Are you okay,” fretted Teddy.

“Get off,” growled Sawyer between coughs. His cheeks flushed in embarrassment as he shrugged Teddy off fiercely.

Teddy drew back with his hands lifted in surrender. Sawyer brought the cigarette up to his mouth again between hacking coughs that only seemed worse when he breathed in. “Um, I know that you probably don’t want to hear this, but smoking can’t be good for you, in general, but also because you’re sick.”

“I’m not....” Sawyer trailed off as his nose gave a fierce twitch. He sucked in a small breath with his nose quivering and chest concaving in with each desperate breath. His eyes fluttered and Teddy saw the almost internal debate inside of Sawyer.

Suddenly, Teddy reached around and pulled the handkerchief from Swayer’s back pocket and thrust it against the older man’s quivering nose. Too stunned to do anything, Sawyer bucked forward.

“HitShsew! HithcShew! ItchsHew! ItchsHew! ItchsShew!” Somewhere in the middle of the fit, Sawyer took the handkerchief from Teddy and held it to his nose on his own. He blew his nose with a honk in the aftermath.

Teddy drew back as Sawyer kept the handkerchief still pressed to his drippy nose. The two looked down at the two lit cigarette before Sawyer released it and it fell to the ground. He stamped on it to put it out as he forced his handkerchief into his back pocket.

“Come on,” Teddy began as he took a step forward and hooked his elbow around Sawyer’s, slightly pulling him forward.

Sawyer blinked the daze from his eyes. “Where are we going,” he rasped.

“Back to my place. You need some proper care and I’m the one to give it to you.”

Aaaaaaaaa! This is beautiful! The nose rubbing, the stifles, Teddy concerning over him! It's perfect! :inlove:

And I must say, I love the way you wrote their personalities, especially Sawyer's, he just wants to be alone and Teddy keeps trying to make conversation, and the sick denial was so good! Like, everytime he tried to tell him he wasn't sick, he got interrupted by a sneezing fit, l-o-v-i-n-g  i-t

And gosh, Teddy's so cute! He's so worried about Sawyer that he even tells him to stop smoking, and he takes him to his place! ❤️

You know, today I'm going to travel and I'll come back the 5th of january, so I probably won't be able to read the next parts until that day, but I'll try my best to get some wifi because this is so good and beautiful!! I can't wait for the next chapter!

Sorry this has taken so long. I’ve had a lot on my mind, but I’m going to try to work on this story a little more since I really like where it’s going. I hope you all enjoy it and let me know how you enjoy it!

Teddy continued to lead Sawyer forward. Nervousness seemed to flutter in his stomach like butterflies when he thought about leading Sawyer to his most intimate place. He also felt a wave of dread at how Sawyer may react to his place. He tried to chase those feelings away as he led him to the apartment.

He fumbled for his keys and almost dropped them. He glanced up to Sawyer in embarrassment, but luckily he was otherwise occupied coughing into his fist. When Teddy finally unlocked the door and opened it, it was not a moment too soon. Sawyer seemed to stagger in with Teddy bringing up the rear. He closed the door softly around him and watched Sawyer walk around in his small flat.

“This is where you live,” Sawyer rasped as he looked around with his eyebrow slightly raised.

Teddy sulked forward as he grabbed a plate, which had held his breakfast that morning, and set it in the sink. “Not all of us have the salary of having school paid for and being a GA. Some of us are just students who have to work their way through.” It had been a little harsher than Teddy had wanted, but nice he said it, there was no coming back.

    Sawyer nodded slowly. “Of course.”

Teddy cleared his throat before making his way to the fireplace. He immediately started to feed some wood into it and lit it since it was a little chilly. “Make yourself at home. The couch is very comfortable, I am told.”

Sawyer started toward it before ducking back with his nose pinched between his forefinger and thumb suddenly. “Hxxxh! Hcxxh! Hxxxh! Hexxxh!”

Despite himself, Teddy started forward slowly and reached out his hands to grasp Sawyer’s. Sawyer’s hands were much larger than his and slightly calloused, which he hadn’t expected. He tried to quiet down his quivering heart as he tried to pull the man’s hands away from his desperately quivering nose. “You’re going to hurt yourself,” Teddy told him gently.

Sawyer turned up his nose to contain the itch, but he didn’t automatically rip his hands from Teddy’s grasp. “Just a habit, I guess.”

“Then stop,” Teddy requested, his voice sounding like a mouse’s squeak. He struggled to turn his tone back to normal, but there was just something about Sawyer that made him feel different. “You’re not bothering me if that’s what you think and we have plenty of tissues. They’re not the fancy kind, but they’re something.”

Sawyer couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’ll take anything right about now.”

Teddy glanced up at Sawyer’s nostrils and saw the slight liquid that was dripping from Sawyer’s nose. He released his hands as he made his way over to the small bathroom where he kept a box of tissues. He picked them up and brought them over to Sawyer. He pulled out a couple and pressed them into his large hand, gingerly forcing it closed with a small smile.

Sawyer brought them up to his nose and gave a small, productive blow. Teddy turned away and rubbed the back of his neck subconsciously. “Hey, do you want to change into something a little more comfortable? I think I have something that might fit you.”

Teddy disappeared and it didn’t take long for him to return with a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. “If you’re cold then I have plenty of blankets and-“

He trailed off as Sawyer pulled his shirt from his body to reveal tensing abs that seemed to only become more defined with each breath. Teddy was awestruck for a moment until Sawyer placed on the t-shirt that hugged his built frame, but didn’t appear too tight in the slightest. He noticed the gaping look on Teddy’s face and actually showed a bit of blush that crept into his cheeks. He quickly pulled off his pants and replaced them with the sweatpants that Teddy had given him.

Teddy turned around and let out a few steadying breaths. He didn’t want to turn around and have Sawyer see the slight embarrassment that was already traveling through him. It wasn’t until he heard Sawyer’s desperate, twitching breaths that he turned around.

The slightly older man turned sharply as he pitched forward. “ItchsHew! IthsSHew! IthsSHew!

“Bless you,” Teddy started as he reached over to grab some of the tissues and handed them over to Sawyer with a shaky hand.

Sawyer stretched out his much steadier and stronger hand to grasp them. He brought them up to his nose and gave it a productive blow. He grimaced in the aftermath as he coughed into the back of his wrist with another sniffle. He lifted his head and Teddy saw a small shiver rack his tense frame.

“I’m such an awful host! Come in, make yourself comfortable and I’ll start a fire,” Teddy offered as he headed to grab more wood for the fireplace. He threw a few in and lit it before straightening and looking back to see Sawyer lounging on the couch. His knees were brought up to his chest and his eyes were flickering as he struggled to keep them open, but didn’t quite want to delve into sleep quite yet either.

Teddy positively melted as he headed over the recliner and picked an Afghan up. He carried it over to Sawyer almost ceremoniously and set it over him. Sawyer looked up in shock and almost jumped out of his skin.

“Hey, hey,” chided Teddy in a calm voice. “Just relax and get some sleep. I’ll be there when you wake up.”

With that Sawyer’s eyes started to close and he drifted off into sleep.

Aww, they're so cute! I love how this is going, their interactions are beautiful! And don't worry, take your time :thumbsupsmiley:

I am so glad that you like it and thanks for your patience! I hope you like this next part. Things will hopefully flow very well after this part!

Once Teddy had thrown more wood into the fire and made some tea, he heard Sawyer start to shift on the couch. He seemed to suck in a massive breath that seemed to become caught in his throat. Teddy rose from the table where he had been reading and walked over to him slowly, trying to see if he was still awake. He could tell that Sawyer was still sleeping even if it wasn’t peaceful.

Teddy reached over and started to nudge Sawyer’s shoulder softly. “Sawyer. Sawyer, wake up.”

Suddenly, Sawyer’s eyes snapped open and he lunged forward. He gripped Teddy’s shoulders and lifted the young man and slammed him into the nearest wall. Teddy screamed in alarm as Sawyer moved one of his arms and pressed his elbow almost against Teddy’s throat.

“S-Sawyer,” Teddy gagged as his eyes seemed to bulge from his eyes. He struggled to meet Sawyer’s gaze to see if he could get through to him. He struggled to breathe while his feet dangled and he kicked them against the wall desperately. “P...Please.”

Something seemed to show in Sawyer’s gaze and he released Teddy. He collapsed and landed on the floor with a hand to his chest and the other to his throat. He coughed painfully with his chest heaving with every breath. Tears caught at the corners of his eyes as he tried to make sense of what had happened while his body was purposely defying any attempt he had at calming himself.

Sawyer kneeled down immediately with his wrist pressed against his nose as if he was just realizing that his nose was running for the first time. He started toward Teddy, but Teddy drew up and gasped in alarm. “Get away from me,” Teddy shouted.

“I’m sorry. I...huh...hih...ItsSHew! IthsSHew! IthsSHew!” Sawyer turned away from Teddy and landed almost on his back. He had his hand clamped over the lower half of his face in embarrassment. “I didn’t bean for thadt do habben.”

Just hearing Sawyer’s stuffy talk was enough to break Teddy’s concentration and fear. He rose to his feet, still feeling partially numb, and grabbed the tissue box. He brought it over to Sawyer and nudged it over to him. “Here,” he coaxed gently.

Sawyer reached out for them and brought them up to his nose. He cleaned it up before blowing heavily, coughing in the aftermath. Just the sound of Sawyer’s suffering started to wear on him. He couldn’t stay mad at him at an outburst that had to be fever driven. There was no way that Sawyer would’ve done that usually. That was what he had to keep telling himself.

“Okay, I think that it’s time for you to get some rest,” Teddy told him as he leaned forward and grabbed Sawyer’s arm and helped him to his feet.

He was more than unsteady and Teddy could feel the heat wafting off of him in waves. He half led, half carried the feverish man toward one of the bedrooms in his flat. He only had two and one was more or less used as a study space, but there was a bed. It was more than a little cramped, but it was better than nothing.

Teddy helped him over to the bed and Sawyer collapsed onto it, his breathing slightly erratic once more. He managed to have the insight to turn away and bury his head into his elbow. “ItshSHew! ItshSHEw! ItshSHEW! ItsSHew!

“Bless you,” Teddy told him before motioning to the room around him. “If you’d be more comfortable in my room then you can. It’s a little messy and I have some school work to finish-“

Sawyer lifted a hand to wave it slowly. “This is good. I’m sorry to put you out like this.”

Teddy stood and crossed his arms against his chest, blushing just a bit. “Naw, it’s no problem at all. I didn’t have anything to do tonight just some schoolwork to finish.”

“Thanks for everything,” Sawyer sniffled as he rubbed the back of his head under his nose firmly as if he was angry with the appendage that was giving him so much trouble.

Teddy shrugged and gave a small smile. “It’s no problem at all, Sawyer. Just try and get some rest and we’ll talk more in the morning.”

He started to make his way to the door when Sawyer stood up quickly. He leaned over and pressed his lips to Teddy’s. Teddy was so caught in the moment in shock that he kissed back. The two broke off and Teddy stood, gasping, with his heart beating out of his chest.

Sawyer stayed as stoic as ever, but even he seemed to realize the severity of what he had just done. Teddy gulped, his Adam’s apple feeling like it would pop right out of his throat. He lifted a hand and ran it through his hair before he made his way toward the door almost shaking. “I-I’ll see you in the morning,” Teddy stammered in surprise as he gripped the door handle and pulled the door shut.

Teddy heard Sawyer fall back onto the bed and let out a sigh. Teddy leaned against the door and slid down with his back pressed against it. His fist was pressed against his right eye as hope and surprise seemed to stir inside of him almost so that he couldn’t feel anything else.

He was a just a swarm of emotions and he had no idea what he should do about it.

Ooooohhh! I wasn't expecting the kiss! Gosh, I'm at a loss of words, it was soooo cute! And Teddy's probably going to catch something after kissing sick Sawyer, ehem...

Now I'm really intrigued about this, I love it so much! :inlove:

This is an interesting premise. By the way, what do you mean by GA?

It means Graduate Assistant. They have already graduated undergrad in college and now help a professor by grading assignments, preparing everything, and really just doing everything besides teaching the class.

I have another part for you. I’m sorry that this is turning into a longer story than you probably originally thought that you would get. I just can’t seem to write a shorter story to save my life 😂 I hope that you all enjoy this part and let know what you all think!

Sawyer sat down on the bed with his skin prickling and bones aching. He had never felt this horrible in his entire life and he wasn’t sure what to do about it. He only faintly recalled what had happened with Teddy. It had been an impulse, driven by fever, and ended with a decision that he had clearly not thought through.

“Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!” Sawyer balled his fists against his hair and pulled until he felt a small burst of pain. He tried not to dwell on it, but it was nearly impossible.

His body gave a weak cough that still shook his entire frame. He kicked off his socks and crawled under the covers with the lights still on. He rolled toward the wall and closed his eyes with a few tears threatening to fall down his face as he drifted off into a pitiful sleep.

Meanwhile, outside, Teddy headed to his bedroom. He closed the door behind him and pulled off his shirt before sitting on his bed and pulling his laptop up to his chest and started to pull up his schoolwork that he still had to finish as well as the exam that he had in a few days. He had been hoping for a little more time to study, but now his mind was too caught up in everything with Sawyer. He just couldn’t think straight about anything and he blamed it on Sawyer. While he knew that this he wasn’t all to blame, he couldn’t think of much beside that.

He couldn’t concentrate on his French and forced the laptop away from him. He lowered down on the bed with his eyes closing and he instantly started to drift off, hoping for a better day.

    “ItshSHew! ItshSHew! IshsSHew! ItshSHew!

Teddy instantly awoke when he heard the sound of desperate sneezes. He knew those sneezes anywhere and not just because Sawyer was the only other one in the house. He pushed his computer to the end of the bed and ran his fingers through his very disheveled hair. Just thinking about how he hadn’t gotten any work done was beyond frustrating, but he did his best not to think much about it as he reached down to grab his shirt and threw it over his body, pulling it over his head.

He started toward the door before taking a brief pause before opening the door. He headed in and slightly looked around and noticed that there was some movement down the hallway to the kitchen. He tilted the head a bit as he continued forward slowly. He didn’t want to scare Sawyer even if he was a little fearful himself if he was being honest with himself.

“Sawyer,” Teddy inquired when he finally saw the man shivering in the kitchen, trying to make himself a cup of coffee. His hand was shaking so much that the liquid started to spill over on his hand and he hissed in pain as he brought the hand to his chest and held it there firmly.

Teddy rushed forward, grabbing a dish towel on his way. He reached out to Sawyer’s hand and wrapped it tightly in the towel. “It’s okay. I do that all the time when I’m rushing in the morning. One time I even dumped it on my pants. That was fun,” he rambled on. He bit the inside of his cheek when he noticed that he was rambling. That always seemed to happen when he was nervous.

Sawyer looked down on him as Teddy cryptically wrapped his hand. He felt fierce embarrassment for what had happened, but he couldn’t stop himself from looking over at Teddy. He opened his mouth to speak when his nose seemed to have other ideas. He started to gently pull away from Teddy, but Teddy was holding strong. He couldn’t speak for if he did he was sure that that would be the urge that his nose needed.

Instead, he ripped himself away from Teddy and pushed his head into his shoulder. He took in a few more hitching breaths before he pitched forward suddenly. “ItshSHew! ItshSHew! Itcxxxh!  Ithcxxxh!”

“Stop, stop,” Teddy chided as he stretched out his hand and rested it on Sawyer’s other shoulder. He pulled him firmly and Sawyer was more than surprised about it. His head came around slowly as he met Sawyer’s gaze. “You’re just going to hurt yourself. I think you know that.”

Sawyer hung his head, his nose freely running. Teddy took the dish towel from Sawyer’s hand gingerly and brought it up to his nose. He gingerly cleaned the undersides of the wet undersides of his nostrils. Teddy sighed as he felt Sawyer’s breath on his hand, his gaze on his, and even felt like Sawyer may have been leaning into his touch. It was then that he felt the heat once more. He was no better, perhaps even worse, than the night prior when the incident had happened.

Teddy cleared his throat as he pulled the dish towel from his nose and set it down, almost shaking as he thought. “Sawyer-“

    “Teddy-“

The two spoke almost at the same time and the two looked down. Teddy managed to speak first with his hands shoved into the pockets of his sweatpants. “Look, about last night, I shouldn’t have been so close to you like that. I mean, I know that you don’t feel the same about me and whatever happened wasn’t what you wanted and-“

“How do you know that,” Sawyer interrupted quickly. His voice seemed to broke as he struggled to clear his throat again. “I should be the one apologizing to you.”

Teddy shook his head firmly. “Sawyer, no. Look, you’re sick. You’re feverish. You’re not thinking straight. We shouldn’t even be discussing this right now.”

Frustration seemed to pulse in Teddy as he lifted his hand and pushed them against his eyes. Sawyer took a step toward him as Teddy looked up. The two looked into each other’s eyes, never speaking. They seemed to breathe in each other’s essence before Sawyer leaned forward, whispering in Teddy’s ear almost seductively. “Does this give you the answer you need?”

Teddy opened his mouth to speak, but couldn’t get a word out. Sawyer leaned forward and pressed his lips against Teddy and the two embraced each other with the coffee spilling over from the pot.

Arghhhh....you can’t leave us hanging;). Hope it is continued soon

I promise that I won’t leave you hanging for too long! So glad that you’re enjoying it!

Sorry for the brief break. School has started up again and it’s as crazy as ever, but I certainly haven’t forgotten about this story. So, here’s another part. Hope you all enjoy!

The two stood for a moment, kissing each other deeply. Sawyer lifted his hand and grasped the sides of Teddy’s face, his fingers sliding over each side of his jaw, feeling the chiseled muscles. Teddy lifted his own hands and grasped the back of Sawyer’s neck, at his hairline, and pulled ever so slightly. Sawyer moaned as Teddy did so. He pulled away from Teddy ever so slowly and started to leave small kisses along Teddy’s jawline. Teddy moaned back in pleasure, despite the fact that Sawyer’s skin was practically broiling against his.

Sawyer suddenly pulled from Teddy and the heat vanished. Teddy whimpered at the loss of Sawyer against him and saw him turn away with his fist lifted to his mouth. He let out a few soft coughs that turned much deeper and rattling. Alarm showed on Teddy’s face as he reached out for a glass and brought it over to the sink. He filled it with cool water and handed it over to Sawyer. “Here,” Teddy urged.

Sawyer took the water in his hands, but they were shaking too much. Teddy lifted his own hands and wrapped them around Sawyer’s hands and the glass to steady it. The two brought the glass to Sawyer’s mouth and helped him take a few gulps through coughs that continued to shake him. It took a bit for the coughing to ease and it left a very tired looking Sawyer with flushed cheeks, a wheeze to his breathing, and his nose running once more.

“You okay,” Teddy asked as he lifted a hand and rubbed Sawyer’s back. The heat was just too much to take and he brought his hand back.

Sawyer nodded slowly, his sweaty bangs starting to almost fall into his eyes. “I think that we should probably wait to do things later,” he suggested with a fearful smile.

“I couldn’t agree more,” Teddy replied as he lifted his fingers to the corners of his mouth. “I think that we should probably get some medicine into you. You’re awfully warm and you could probably use something beside coffee, perhaps tea.”

Sawyer slightly made a face as he made his way over to the couch slowly. Teddy decided to make Sawyer a cup of tea anyway. The worst thing that he could do was not drink it. Teddy almost looked through his cabinets until he was able to find some cold medicine. It was old since he rarely got sick, but it would do the job. He unscrewed the top and poured it into a little cup. He heard Sawyer coughing behind him and he hoped that this would help at least a little.

He brought it over to Sawyer as well as the glass of water. He handed it over and watched Sawyer turn his nose up at it. “I know that it tastes like shit, but you have to take it. It’ll make you feel better,” Teddy chided.

Sawyer continued to look at the goo in the tiny cup. He tipped his hand and watched the liquid move slowly around it’s small container. “Not if it kills me first.”

“Don’t be dramatic. The sooner you take it the sooner that we can move onto something else. I might even be able to find some more tissues,” murmured Teddy as he leaned forward and gingerly pressed a kiss on Sawyer’s jawline. “How about that?”

Sawyer moaned once more before lifting the cup and bringing it to his lips. He downed it like a shot and made the same face that he would’ve made if he was drinking. “That’s terrible,” he sputtered.

Teddy grinned as he took the cap before Sawyer could crush it in his fist. “Come on. It’s not that bad.” He set it aside before bringing the glass of water over to him. “Just wash it down with this.”

Sawyer took it without another word and swallowed the water quickly. He made a slight face and set it aside, grumbling to himself. Teddy couldn’t help but roll his eyes as he watched the older man make such a big deal about the medicine like a little kid. Sawyer lifted on eyebrow when he saw the look on Teddy’s face. “What? What!”

“Nothing. Don’t get all pissy because you don’t feel good,” Teddy shot back.

The two of them sat silent for a moment before both of them broke out laughing. Teddy wasn’t even sure why, but just being with Sawyer was enough to make him laugh like a giddy school boy. They only tampered off when Sawyer started to cough, struggling with each painful breath that seemed to rake his body.

Teddy noticed and automatically stopped himself from laughing as if that would make it easier for Sawyer to stop coughing. There didn’t appear to be any sign in sight that Sawyer was slower and, in fact, he leaned forward with his head almost between his knees as he struggled with each painful hack. Tears rolled down his cheeks as Teddy scooted closer and started to pound on Sawyer’s back in small circles. “Shhh, shhhh. Take some deep breaths. I can’t have you passing out on me.”

It seemed to take a while, but Sawyer’s coughing eventually started to die down. He pulled himself into a sitting up position for a moment before he seemed to fall sideways with his head rested on Teddy’s shoulder, his eyes barely rolling up in his head in exhaustion.

Teddy would’ve been content with Sawyer staying there for the rest of the night, but just before Sawyer drifted off, Teddy noticed that his nostrils kept flaring madly. He slightly wrinkled his nose in his almost sleep state and Teddy could tell that something was irritating them. With a small smile of mischief, he lifted his finger and gingerly tickled the opening of Sawyer’s nostrils before tracing them, trying to entice the sneeze that Sawyer’s body clearly craved. He sealed the deal by planting a small kiss on it.

Sawyer sucked in a massive breath still not fully aware of everything before he buckled forward, into Teddy’s neck. “IthsSHew! IthsSHEw! ItsSHew! IthsSHew! ItshSHew!”

His eyes suddenly flung open and he gasped when he realized that he had just sneezed into his lover’s neck and left a thick trail of snot there. He lifted his hand to his nose and clamped it shut desperately since it was clear that his nose was not near satisfied. “Ithxxxh! Ichxxxh! Ithxxxxh! Ithxxxxh!

“Stop,” whispered Teddy as he urgently grabbed a handful of tissues and wrestled Sawyer’s death grip from his nose. He pressed the tissues against Sawyer’s nose as he urgently breathed desperately. Sawyer grumbled, breath still hitching, desperately trying not to sneeze into Teddy’s waiting hands. “Go on. I got you. There’s no reason to be embarrassed.”

Teddy wasn’t sure if it was his words, or the fact that Sawyer couldn’t holdback anymore.

“Oh, you are feeling awful, aren’t you,” Teddy asked as he wrapped an arm around Sawyer’s shoulder and gave him a comforting squeeze.

Sawyer moaned his answer and it only took Teddy a moment to understand. “Let’s see what we can do about that. I think that we should start with soup.”

Don’t worry about it! I’m just glad that you’re still enjoying it! There will be some more parts yet to come and I hope to write one tomorrow if I have time between classes. Thanks so much for your kind comments with my first original fiction story. It really means a lot and I’m so glad that you’re liking it!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Whether you celebrate it or not (or are single or not) I hope that you enjoy this story! It’s a little short, but I had a few spare moments before a get together with some friends. It’s not as romantic as the other chapter, but I promise that more romance is coming! Hope you enjoy!

Teddy managed to sit Sawyer at the table. His mouth was partially open and his eyes seemed to wander to the door while Teddy was standing loyally at the stove. Teddy glanced over his shoulder and saw Sawyer reaching for his back pocket and then trying to stand, but his legs were like jelly and he kept falling back down.

“What are you doing,” Teddy inquired while stirring the broth in front of him.

“I want a smoke,” replied Sawyer with a heavy cough.

Teddy let out a loud sigh of frustration and tapped his foot against the ground. “Seriously? You can hardly breathe and you want to smoke? There’s no way that you can make it to the door!”

Sawyer shrugged off what Teddy had just said as he took a shaky hand and reached into his other pocket. “Okay.” He managed to find a lighter and he set it on the table as he grasped the cigarette between his teeth, holding it steady. Teddy sucked in a breath of shock as he darted forward and ripped the cigarette from Sawyer’s mouth before Sawyer could light it. “Hey, what do you think you’re doing?!”

“Seriously,” Teddy continued as he waggled the cigarette in front of Sawyer’s gaze. It was just out of his grasp and Sawyer didn’t even try to reach for it. “You can’t smoke when you’re sick like this! You shouldn’t even smoke at all. Don’t you know how bad that is for your health?”

Sawyer leaned back with the legs of the chair almost scraping against the floor. “Who are you, my mom,” he shot fiercely.

Teddy ignored his comment as he brought the cigarette to the trash and thrust it in there. He clapped his hands for a moment before making his way back to the stove and pulling the soup from it. He separated it into two servings, giving himself a little more than Sawyer, and brought it back to the table. He set it down and gave a small flourish of his hands. “Dinner is served!”

Sawyer looked around before glancing back up at Teddy. “Do I have to eat it with my hands or.....”

“Right,” Teddy exclaimed, thrusting the palm of his hand against his forehead. He turned and grabbed two spoons as well as two water bottles. He set one in front of Sawyer and the other in front of himself.

Sawyer glanced at the water in distain. “Can’t we drink anything else?”

Teddy didn’t answer right away. Instead, he grabbed his spoon and placed it in the soup. He brought it up to his mouth and took a long sip as the hot liquid seemed to warm him from the inside. Once he had finished his bite he looked to Sawyer. “I can. You can’t. You’re sick,” he reminded him. “Or did you forget?”

Sawyer muttered something under his breath as he lifted his own spoon and plunged it into the soup. He slightly leaned forward and sniffed in the steam. It cleared out his stuffy nose for a moment before it just turned his nose running. He grumbled to himself as he clamped a hand over the lower half of his face quickly. Teddy continued to sip his soup and was none the wiser until Sawyer pitched to the side with both of his head thrust over his face.

    “IthsSHew! IthsSHew! ItshsEHw! ItshSHew!

Teddy could tell how wet and desperate those sneezes were. He flinched as he saw Sawyer still turned away with both hands over his nose. He was clearly too embarrassed to speak, or even turn. It didn’t take Teddy long to realize what had happened and he quickly rose to his feet and bustled toward the living room where Sawyer had left the tissues.

“Here,” murmured Teddy softly. He set the tissues on the table and promptly looked away so not to embarrass Sawyer anymore than he was already embarrassed.

Sure enough, Teddy heard the sound of Sawyer cleaning up his nose and filling the tissues. He crumpled them into a ball in his fist before turning back to his soup. Teddy didn’t comment on what had just happened since it was clear that Sawyer clearly didn’t want to talk about it. Sawyer just dove back into his soup and Teddy did the same. The only sound that could be heard was the slurps of them eating the soup and the clang of the spoons against the sides of the bowls.

Teddy finished his soup in almost no time and he saw that Sawyer was still struggling to finish his. Each sip seemed to turn him another shade of green and Teddy frowned. “You don’t have to finish it if you’re full. Granny gave me the recipe so I know that it’s good.”

A look of relief showed on Sawyer’s face as he pushed the bowl forward. He lifted his hand and rested his elbow on the table as he leaned his head against his hand. Teddy could see his eyes almost close and concern tugged at him. He abandoned his bowl of finished soup and made his way back to Sawyer. He lifted his hand to feel his forehead and then his cheeks. “You’re a little cooler, but I still think that you should rest.”

Sawyer shook his head, pulling away from Teddy. “I have to get back home,” he rasped as he started to stand. His legs seemed to give out again and he staggered forward. Teddy hissed in surprise as he rushed forward and grasped his shoulder before he could face plant.

“And how do you expect to do that? You can’t even stand up. How do you expect to walk,” Teddy chided as he sat Sawyer back up before he fell over again.

Sawyer wrinkled his nose in distain. “I’ll find a way,” he protested weakly.

“Yeah, alright,” Teddy huffed as he straightened and tried to think of a compromise. Clearly Sawyer wasn’t as comfortable here was his own flat and Teddy understood that. On the other hand, he wasn’t nearly strong enough to look after himself and Teddy would never forgive himself if anything happened to Sawyer. “Okay, how about I offer you a deal?”

Sawyer glanced up in him surprise as he buried his head into his elbow. He managed to hear what Teddy had said and his head automatically shot up. “What?”

“A deal. I will let you go home as long as I come with you,” Teddy replied as he stood in front of Sawyer and almost kneeled down so that they were on the same level. “That way I can look out for you in case you need anything. Does that sound like a good deal?”

Sawyer huffed as he looked up to Teddy. He leaned forward slightly and tilted his head upward, pressed his lips against Teddy’s. Teddy couldn’t stop himself from leaning forward and kissing him back. The two stayed with their mouths pressed together until Sawyer had to break off to cough painfully into his shoulder. He looked back to Teddy and nodded reluctantly. “Alright,” he rasped.

Teddy drew back and clapped Sawyer on the forward. “This’ll be great! Let me just pack my things,” he exclaimed as he turned and started to shuffle back toward his room to gather anything that he would need.

Sawyer rolled his eyes as he heard Teddy banging around, cursing a bit as he tried to find his supplies. Meanwhile, Sawyer drew back and sighed heavily before the tickle seized his nostrils. His mouth parted with his head still tilted upward as the itch seemed to tease him, but wouldn’t give him the release that he desperately needed. It only took a moment of him staring up at the light to give him the release that his nose desperately craved.

It only took a moment more staring at the light for the itch to spread and his breath to hitch. “IshsHSew! IshsEWH! IshsEHw! IshsShtew!

“Look, I’m glad that you’re not stifling anymore, but at least cover your mouth,” sighed Teddy as he walked toward Sawyer with a backpack slung over one shoulder.

Sawyer lifted his neck from the inclined back position to glance at Teddy. “Now you’re being picky about it,” he shot back.

Teddy grabbed some tissues from the box and made his way over to Sawyer. “Blow your nose. I can hardly understand you!” He took the tissue and gingerly started to wipe at Sawyer’s nose for him. Teddy’s touch was gentle and deliberate, not spending anymore time on the task than Sawyer could tolerate. Teddy finished quickly and bundled the tissues before grabbing more and clutching them around Sawyer’s nose gingerly. “Blow,” he instructed.

Sawyer took in a deep breath and blew his nose. He tried not to think of how humiliating it was as Teddy cleaned up the undersides of his nose and tossed them away. “Okay, we ready,” he asked as he picked his backpack back up and threw it over his shoulder once more. “I do have some school work to finish unless a GA might help me?”

“Perhaps,” joked Sawyer with another roll of his eyes. “But not this GA.”

Teddy came over and pressed a kiss to Sawyer’s forehead. Sawyer knew that it was not just a kiss when Teddy held it there for a bit. He pulled back and ruffled Sawyer’s hair. “We’ll see about that. You still have a fever. We should see about getting to your place before you crash again.”

He lowered down a bit and grasped Sawyer’s arm and helped him rise to his feet. The two started forward slowly with the keys to Teddy’s car dangling from his hand. They made their way over to the front door and headed out. Teddy closed the door behind him, locking it behind him. Teddy half led, half dragged Sawyer forward as Sawyer seemed to almost fall forward. The only thing keeping him upright was Teddy.

“You gotta help me out a little bit, Sawyer. You’re falling forward,” Teddy snapped in surprise.

Sawyer seemed to catch himself as he tried to force his legs to move. It didn’t take too long to arrive at Teddy’s car and he opened the door for Sawyer. Sawyer collapsed into it with a small sigh that turned into a weak cough. Teddy slammed the door and rubbed a hand against his forehead. “This is going to be fun.”

I’m so glad that you enjoy it and I hope that it’s everything that you wanted you SS present to be. It’s been so fun writing this far and I may just have to examine some more original fiction because I enjoyed it so much. I hope that you like the next part just as much.

Spring Break will be upon me in a few hours, but I am in my cousin’s wedding, so I probably won’t have time to write that much. Especially being in a cramped house with family members. This is not something I want them stumbling on. I will try my best to update at least once over Spring Break, but don’t hold me to it. I hope that this next part can tide you guys over until then. I hope you enjoy!

Teddy drove Sawyer in almost absolute silence. The only thing that disrupted it was Sawyer’s sniffles. Teddy blindly reached over to his glove box and pulled out some napkins and handed them over to Sawyer. “Here. The sniffling is getting a little annoying.”

Sawyer couldn’t argue that. He took the napkins and shoved them against his nose to just catch the residual drip instead of actually blowing his nose since it was so sore. He leaned his head against the window of the car and felt tiredness pull at him and he drifted off quickly for sleep.

He awoke when something tapping on his shoulder. He moaned as he tried to roll away from it, but the poking continued. “Sawyer, wake up.”

Sawyer groaned as he opened one eye. “What?”

“We’re here,” Teddy announced as he parked the car and pulled the keys from the ignition while still pointing to Sawyer’s house.

Sawyer did a double take before glancing back over to Teddy. “H-How did you k-know where I lived,” he stammered cautiously.

“I’m not a stalker if that’s what you’re imposing! I just know things, alright.” Teddy opened the driver’s door and stepped out while Sawyer struggled to get out on his end. Luckily, Teddy was there when Sawyer needed him and he pulled the older man to his feet and helped him while having his backpack still on his back. “Do you have your keys on you?”

Sawyer motioned to his front pocket and Teddy took it upon himself to pull out the keys. He just hoped that no one was watching since this could look bad at this angle. He swallowed his fear and snagged them out when they arrived to the door. He unlocked it easily and the two of them headed in with Sawyer partially leaning forward to flick on the lights.

What Teddy saw astounded him. It wasn’t a mansion by any means, but it was much larger than his place that he had from working part time and being a student. “I gotta become a GA.”

Sawyer couldn’t help but roll his eyes as he slightly coughed that turned more deep and rattling in his chest. “Yeah, it’s got its perks.”

“Clearly, like a lot of perks and space. Look at this place,” Teddy continued as he walked forward. He started to almost spin in a circle as he tried to take in everything. It was scarcely decorated and wasn’t all that spacious, but it was in a nice area and he had some paintings and very comfortable furniture. Teddy just wanted to sit down, or check out the bedrooms, maybe both.

He only realized that Sawyer was still there when he heard his hitching breath. “ItshSHew! IshsHew! IshtSHew! IshsThew!

“Oh, right!” Teddy continued forward and stopped by Sawyer’s side. “I’m here ogling your house when I should be helping you get to bed. I’ll have time to explore later.”

Sawyer noticed that Teddy was talking to himself more than he was talking to him. He didn’t take it personally as he sniffed hard as the two made their way to the stairs. Just the thought of walking up the stairs was daunting for Sawyer. Teddy seemed to sense that as well as he nodded it Sawyer. “We’ll take it together.”

They took one step and did again and again. By the time they were at the top of the stairs, Sawyer was so out of breath that he almost collapsed forward. “We’re almost there. Don’t quit now.”

“You are annoying, you know that,” Sawyer grumbled as he turned to the side and coughed once more. His legs turned more than wobbly and unstable and he was forced to leave Teddy’s grip and lower himself down on the stairs. A hand was clutched to his chest as he felt as if his lungs would just tear from his body. Black dots clouted around his vision and he thought he was going to pass out.

Before he could, he felt a gentle hand on his bicep. It moved to his back, between his shoulders blades, and it gave a strong thump. That seemed to dislodge whatever was trying to make its way up and Sawyer gave a weak swallow. “Thank you,” he rasped.

Teddy just gave a wicked grin as he pulled on his shoulders as he fought to place an arm around Sawyer’s waist and helped haul him the rest of the way up. The two of them staggered against one another to the only room upstairs. There was a large living room up there that could be considered a room if you looked at it, but Teddy didn’t have time for specifics. He had to get Sawyer laying down and fast.

“Ugh, Teddy,” Sawyer complained with his head flicking from side to side manically.

It made Teddy dizzy just looking at him and he rolled his eyes. “Sawyer, would you stop that? You’re making me sick just watching you!”

Suddenly, Sawyer’s head dropped down as he sucked in a deep breath while exhaustion showed on his face. “IthsSHew! IshsEw! IthsSHew! IsthsHSeW!”

Each sneeze was ripped from Sawyer’s frame and left him feeling even weaker and sicker. When he was finally finished his nose was streaming and he seemed in no hurry to do anything about it. Luckily, Teddy had become accustomed to it and he didn’t seem keen to speak to him about it either.

Sawyer looked over to Teddy with round eyes that showed his distain and uncomfortableness with everything. Sympathy rushed over Teddy for the man that he considered his senior, yet looked like a child with the frown on his face. “Don’t worry. I’m going to take care of you, I promise.”

I am back once more. This story is almost complete, but I have a few more parts. I hope that all of you enjoy this part and the ones to come!

Teddy lugged Sawyer to his room and set him on the king sized mattress. Teddy’s gaze started to wander at the fireplace, vintage furniture, as well as plush beige carpet underfoot. He was half tempted to just toss his shoes off right then just to feel how soft it could really be on is feet.

    “Teddy?”

The young man gave a shake of his head to clear it. “Right, yeah! Just admiring your things.” He came back over to Sawyer and looked at him expectantly as he sat on the bed. “So, what do you need? Tissues? Juice? Tea? Anything?”

“Everything,” croaked the older man with a hopeful smile that seemed to show his wrinkles on his forehead. He just looked so pathetic to Teddy.

Teddy’s heart seemed to flutter in his chest as he nodded, drawing back a bit. “Of course. I’ll just leave you to change into something a little more comfortable, I’m sure. You’re a little more muscular than I am,” Teddy rambled as he started backwards out of the door.

Once Teddy was out of the room, Sawyer took that moment to allow himself to truly feel awful. His entire body ached to his bones and caused his skin to prickle and feel like it was on fire. Even his clothes seemed to bother him. He felt hot and cold at the same time and just couldn’t get comfortable. His throat was raw from trying to talk and the coughing. Even swallowing was intolerable. His sinuses pounded while his nose ran freely like a leaky tap. He was the epitome of illness and he hated it.

He had an internal debate with himself before he finally coaxed himself into standing up. He staggered for a moment before he stretched out a hand to catch himself on the bed. Once he had got his bearings he tried to walk again toward the bathroom where he kept most of his comfier clothes. He leaned forward and nearly lunged for the bathroom door. He pushed his way in, sniffling heavily.

Sawyer brought a hand up to his nose and that was when he realized how much it was running and how Teddy hadn’t said anything. He cursed under his breath as he reached for the roll of toilet paper. He broke off a section and pressed it to his nose. He huffed under his breath as the gentle touch seemed to infuriate his nostrils. Agony pulsed through him that quickly turned to an impressive itch that resonated deep within his nostrils as if he had tickled them with a feather. Sawyer tried to shake his head, but that seemed to be in vain.

His breath gave a few desperate, tickling hitches. His head was tilted back and his mouth was parted. His eyes squinted as he waited for them to jam shut. He stayed perched like that for a while before the release came. He buckled forward with the soiled toilet paper. “IthsSHew! IthsSHew! IthsSHew! IthsSHew! IthsSHew!” At the end of the fit it left the toilet paper utterly useless and Sawyer grimaced before throwing it away.

Sawyer turned to the sink and washed his hands throughly. He didn’t even bother with cleaning up his nose since he knew how well that had gone last time. Once he had washed his hands, he started to undress. He had been thankful for Teddy’s clothes, but he was glad to have his own. He pulled off the shirt and sweatpants so that he only remained in his boxers. Sawyer looked in the mirror and caught a glimpse at his body before quickly looking down and scrambling to find something to wear.

He finally settled on sweatpants and a sweatshirt from the university. He quickly changed into them and made his way outside to see Teddy already by the bed with a tray filled with tea, soup, medicine, water, and plenty of tissues. Sawyer instantly felt his body relax just at the look of it.

Teddy spiraled around and beamed when he saw Sawyer. “I thought that you might’ve gotten lost in there.” He turned back to motion to the tray. “Look what I got! Everything that you need to kick this cold’s ass!”

“I hope you’re right,” Sawyer continued as he crawled onto the bed and under the covers. He tucked his hand into one of his pockets and found another pack of half used cigarettes. He brought them out and Teddy nearly dove forward in an attempt to grab them.

He did so with little protest from Sawyer as Teddy glared down on him. “What do you think that you’re doing?! We talked about this,” he pointed out with a dejected look on his face.

“I wasn’t going to use it, I swear. I just felt them in my pocket and there’s no way that I could sleep with that pressing against my leg,” he tried to explained quickly before Teddy could really loose it.

Teddy gave an unconvincing nod, but decided to go with it for Sawyer’s sake, just for the moment. He gave the cigarettes another angry glance before he stretched his hand forward and glared at Sawyer until Sawyer reluctantly set the half used pack into Teddy’s palm. Teddy tightened his fingers around it with a look of pure satisfaction on his face. “I’m going to throw these out so don’t bother looking for them.”

Sawyer chuckled as he motioned to the assortment of ‘goodies’ that Teddy had brought. “What do we have,” he asked while lifting the cuff of his sweatshirt to rub it against his nose.

Teddy swatted Sawyer’s sleeve away as he produced some tissues. “How about these? They’re much better than clothing if you ask me,” he almost taunted.

Sawyer made a face before the overwhelming itch seemed to take over with a passion. Sawyer ripped a few tissues from the box and took in a few hitching, tantalizing breaths, before he pitched forward into the tissues. “IthsSHew! IthsSHew! IthsSHew! ItshSHEw! IthsSHEw!” Sawyer ended the display with a heavy blow of his nose while looking increasingly tired and put out.

Teddy made a slightly cooing sound as he sat beside him on the bed. He stretched out his hand and ran his fingers over Sawyer’s scalp and started to massage it. Sawyer rumbled in relief and pressure as Teddy seemed to work on the headache that Sawyer was starting. Teddy could tell and continued to work his fingers against his scalp and through his hair lovingly. “That good?”

Sawyer mumbled once more as his head started to fall tot he side. Teddy glanced back at the medicine and thought about forcing Sawyer it take it, but he didn’t see the point. He hadn’t slept well and Teddy didn’t want to disturb him when all he wanted was to sleep.

“Just rest now,” Teddy urged as he leaned forward and pressed his lips to Sawyer’s forehead while still massaging his head. “We’ll figure out everything more later.”

No problem! I’m just glad that you’re enjoying this story and I hope you enjoy the rest of it! 😁

It took almost no time flat for Sawyer to drift off. Teddy hadn’t had any doubts about it. Whenever he was sick, his mother had always done the same thing and it had put Teddy right to sleep. Teddy always caught the most miserable of colds and he could cur with the way that Sawyer was feeling. The only thing that he didn’t want was to wind up like his new lover.

Curiosity had gotten the best of him once Sawyer had fallen asleep and Teddy decided to look around some more. He made his way downstairs first and hoped that he didn’t wake Sawyer with all of his wandering. Part of him didn’t care, just because he had never seen a house like this before. He shouldn’t have been like a kid in a candy store, but coming from a single bedroom apartment to a dorm room, and now to his small flat, this was a mansion.

He peered into each of the bedrooms in the downstairs that Sawyer had turned into a study and a guest bedroom. Both were quaint, but Teddy doubted that Sawyer had actually decorated them. That didn’t seem like a very Sawyer thing to do. Then again, he didn’t know him all that well yet and he decided that there may be somethings that he could surprise him about.

Teddy went to check out the kitchen when he felt just the tiniest of prickles seem to taunt at his nose. Teddy growled half to himself as he rubbed a hand firmly against his nose as if he was going to rip it off of his face. He knew from prior experiences that it wasn’t the best idea to try and stifle it since his sneezes were quite loud when they wanted to be, but he didn’t want to wake up Sawyer.

He contemplated the two choices before bringing his hand and clamping his nose shut firmly as his shoulders bucked forward. “Hixxxh! Hcxxxh! Hcxxxh! Hcxxxxh! Htxxxxh! Htcxxxxh! Htxccch! Htxxxxh! Htxxxxch!”

Even after nine sneezes his nose still didn’t want to cooperate and it was driving him inane. Usually with three of four sneezes he was alright, but not when he was stifling. The itch came back with a vengeance and Teddy suddenly stooped with half of his hand over his face. “HrhcsSH! HrcSHShs! HrchsSSHs!”

The three were muffled, but still powerful and shook Teddy a bit from where he stood. He gave his head an impressive shake with tiredness showing in his eyes. He felt dizzy from the intensity from that fit and he hadn’t expected it to hit him like a freight train like this.

He muttered under his breath as he made his way over to the couch and just threw himself onto it, landing face first into it. He let out a small groan as the pain started to flare up a bit in the back of his throat. The only thing that he could think of in the moment was how unfair this seemed. He had been trying to take care of Sawyer. Why should it take him down?!

Teddy then recalled the first kiss that they shared, followed by many others. He gave a telltale nod with his shoulders slumping forward on the couch as he tried to sit himself up for a moment so that he could breathe through his nose since he hadn’t blown his nose after the fit. He gave a weak sniffle into his sleeve before mentally scolding himself. He had just told Sawyer not to do that and now he was doing it himself!

A few wet coughs ripped from Teddy’s body when the sitting up become too much. He fell forward with his head pushed into the couch cushions. His eyes slowly began to drift closed as the tiredness he had felt for days starting to take full effect and there was nothing that he could do but to give in.
