I feel like it's too difficult to get poster

This is definitely just my personal opinion, but I feel like the whole "u have to post 500 times to get poster rank" kind of feels like a chore. I wish there was just a faster way.

From my understanding, I don't think there's any specific number of posts you need to get the status-- Instead the mods grant status based on contribution to the forum, and as a general guideline, it tends to happen after around 100 posts (but no specific number)

"poster" is just a status symbol to show you've been around a long time. "member" is given after a min 50 as facet mentions, for the reasons facet mentions. no special privileges are given to members who reach poster status as far as i know.

You did well making the cereal and milk topic. Continue interacting and you’ll get the extra benefits soon. By making friends now, you’ll have people to talk to when you can send private messages.

And just a tip, the ‘Fun and Games’ board doesn’t add to your post count.

At a glance, most of your posting history has been horning on content including, hysterically, the complaint that there aren't enough female wavs out there.

Membership is pretty easily attainable if you put back into the community. Write a fic, record a wav, etc. Just posting nonsense to hit the 50-post mark is unremarkable and vaguely annoying.

....and is discounted by the staff when assessing contributions towards being validated.

As others have said, posting positively is the way forward and is what everybody else did before they were validated.

Good luck!

There should be a mini forum for those that just want to "meet" others and don't want a lifetime achievement award. Sometimes there is a subject on forum you don't want to share with everyone also that could be shared with a safer trusted few. One system doesn't work for everybody JMO

Hence why there are places on the internet  *other* than this forum.  😉

I mean.... it is hard to believe, but true.  Lol!

OR... people can set up new places.

And if there is a "trusted few" that one wants to chat with, I would think that they would get to be trusted through getting to know them in general, which is part of the reason that there is a validation process.  If talking about fetish stuff "in public" is too nervous making- there are always Off-Topic boards.

I'd like to know these "other places" on the internet

But what does posting positively mean exactly?

I would start a page like this if enough interest exists, I don't think this forum isn't great, it certainly is but based on some of the posting, I'd be glad to put together a supplemental website that maximizes personal interaction and potential meetings. I am not vetted, so I will have to start site with suboptimal input, but I would be glad to try for the community.

Try searching.  Try other links on here.  Try social media sites- including kik and Discord.

I do know that other places DO exist, but since I'm not really looking for the same types of places (have people in community I have known for well over a decade) I am probably not the best person to point out in more specifics.

And providing different experiences for different members of our "community" (as a whole, not just members in here) is great.  Different people like different things.  This place isn't intended to provide everything for every person

Looking around on this site, you’ll see lots of examples of positive posting.

If you read a story you like, tell the author why you liked the story.

If someone posts a question, give your opinion on it.

Post something you’re interested in and respond to people who respond to you.

If you want, write a story with regular updates. That’s what I did back when I was validating, and I was a member within two months. I made friends through that process as well.

~~~
Try not to post twenty comments back to back to get the count in.
Validation into the community won’t help with interacting with others privately besides just giving you access to. So if you get validated and then start pming people for trades or requests, most will shut you down immediately because they don’t know you or they will check your posting history to see what type of person you are and then decide.
Let me know if you have any questions after reading this. Or if there’s an idea in your head and you don’t know whether posting it would be a positive thing or not.
make an account in the first place- if you're only going to lurk / act as a Guest, then you're taking away resources from the forum and the community with no intention of ever giving back
This has me curious.  I definitely understand the validation process in terms of wanting to keep this a safer space, making sure the person isn't problematic and such.  However what resources would be taken away from the forum and community if people make an account and lurk vs being a guest and lurking?
Here's a question:  What do the admins actually DO when they decide to evaluate someone for validation?  I haven't seen any information about that around the site searching around myself, so forgive me if it's covered somewhere obvious.
Do they basically just eyeball your posts and decide from that?  Is there some sort of...points system being tabulated behind the scenes?  Are multiple admins giving out "points" at different times to us that we just can't see or is it just one person deciding things once a month?
It might not be any of my business, but I'm just kind of curious about the process.
I'm no admin, but I imagine they look at your postings and decide whether you have made a positive contribution to the forum, either by providing content (fics, wavs, obs, etc.) or good quality feedback posts on other peoples contributions (ie. not just typing 'nice obs' or 'more please'). Basically, if you are a positive, supportive and contributing poster, you will likely be validated relatively quickly.
Also, keep in mind that there is only one semi-active admin right now (I believe). Things are kind of rough on staff as far as admining goes right now, so things aren't happening as quickly as they did years ago.
Oh?  Is there any way to get more admins?  Or is there just not enough people interested?
