Nurse with a huge cold (F)

I hardly every get the opportunity to share a good observation mainly because I don’t see that many but today was different.  

I was at the doctor for a routine check up and the nurse checking everyone in was clearly battling a very bad cold.

As I walked up to the check in station all the nurses were busy but as I approached someone was finished and stepped away and when they did I immediately saw a woman in her (late 30’s?) with a over medium sized nose that was red and raw and sniffling.  Of course my heart raced a bit as I approached wondering if she would have that stuffy cold voice we all love so much and to my luck it was better than i imagined.

“Cad I help you?” She said and I immediately could tell she was suffering.  Her eyes were tired, her lips were a bit chapped as were the rims of her round nostrils. I didn’t want to draw too much attention to it so I just told her what I was there for and she went about her business entering my information in the computer and then she stopped!  Her eyes glassed over, she sniffled twice, clearly irritated, looked up briefly and quickly snatched a tissue from the box in front of her and sneezed a really powerful wet sneeze into it!  I was blown away and hoped I didn’t look to flushed.  Should I say something?  Bless her?  I didn’t know what to do.

Before I could decide she wiped her nose and said “sorry, what ever I’ve got won’t go away”

I honestly couldn’t believe it.  And then it just came out... “Sounds like you’ve got a pretty bad cold”(I seriously felt instantly mortified, wondering what she would think?!). She said it was awful and mumbled something else but I honestly don’t remember.  I was still thinking about her sneeze.

Anyway I sat down in a spot where I could see her even with new patients checking in hoping to see more. 

About 5 min in, she picked up a few more tissues inbetween patients and blew a very wet gurgly blow clearly soaking the them almost instantly.  I could barely hear her give an exhausted sigh.  Then went back to her work.  

I was called back a few min later and that was that but wow.  It may be the one time I wouldn’t have minded waiting awhile.

I imagine that working in a doctor's office, you get exposed to all sorts of stuff.  I wonder how many other people she's managed to infect herself, at that point.  I guess it keeps business coming in, LOL.
