White Rose Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 (edited) Wow, it’s been years since I’ve posted, much less posted obs. Especially self obs! I might be a little rusty, but here we go! I never get allergies in the winter time, usually just autumn and spring. But this winter has been different. I don’t know what it is, but ever since about 2 weeks before Christmas, my allergies have been awful! Even with allergy meds, I’m still pretty sniffly most of the time. But last night, I had a full blown allergy attack, which I hardly ever get. I woke up around 3 am with a stuffy head and a runny nose. Before I even opened my eyes, I felt a very stubborn tickle in my nose. The kind that won’t go away, no matter how hard you try not to sneeze. I sat up, my eyes already welling up with itchy tears, and my lips parting as my nose quivered. I held my hand a few inches away from my face in anticipation. The tickle was so intense. My eyes squeezed shut as I started to hitch. “Hhhuhhh, uhhh...” I turned away, trying not to wake my partner who was fast asleep. I tried to be as quiet as possible, but I just couldn’t hold my sneezes back. I cupped my hand to my face, “Huhhhnncheww! Huhh hitngshoo! Ihhhtsheww! Uhhh...” I hitched, knowing there was more to come. “Huhhh mptshoo! HuhhhhTSHOO!” The last one was so powerful, I couldn’t hold it back at all. I got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom. I stood over the sink and blew my nose. As I was trying to massage all of the itchiness away, my breath started to hitch again. I stood there for about 10 seconds, holding onto the counter for support with one hand, just breathy hitching, waiting for another teasing sneeze. Then, all of a sudden, “huhhHhh TSHEWW!” I could finally let them out, not that I wasn’t worried about waking up my partner. My nose quivered and ran as I rubbed at it with a tissue to no avail. “Hihhhsheww! Hhheptshew!! Huhhhuhhh-tesheww! Ihhh... itshew!” I took another shaky breath and “Hiiiihhh-HITSHEWWWW!” Immediately grabbing a tissue and blowing and rubbing my itchy nose. 2 fits of 6. I was completely stuffed up as I headed back to bed. I lay awake for about a minute, trying to silence my stuffy sniffles as much as possible. Then I decided to put on some Vick’s to relieve some of the congestion, and lay back down, still very sniffly. My partner rolled over to face me, sleepily muttered “poor baby,” and rubbed my back until I feel back asleep. Hope you enjoyed! Edited January 30, 2019 by White Rose
