Heathcliff Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 As you can tell by my current profile photo, I'm really looking forward to the Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix- but I'm also apprehensive about it. Has anyone read The Killing Joke (the Alan Moore comic book)? I think the new movie is partly inspired by this (as were elements of The Dark Knight). What I'm concerned about is- the Joker shouldn't be anything of a hero in these movies. He's a murderer- the whole point of the Killing Joke is that Joker tries to prove that anyone, even Commisioner Gorden, will behave as badly as he does after grief and trauma. But he fails- the idea is, the Joker doesn't have excuses for his crimes- he needs to take responsibility for them. But still, I'm really looking forward to the movie. Anyone have any thoughts?
