Cold all in the head (F, self)

So I've never done a self one before but I've come down with one of the worst head colds of my life so here's the perfect opportunity. I make that distinction because I've been/felt far sicker before, but this one is just brutally in my head. I've never been so congested in my life. I can't get one molecule of air in my nose, which leaves me out of breath and panting even if I sit and do nothing. It's embarrassing to have to walk around in public like that, mouth gaping like a fish, because my breathing is just so audible, but I really can't help it. My ears are clogged up as well; I can't hear at all out of one and the other is stuffy and painful.

It's also come at the worst possible time because of final exams and I have a presentation to give in front of a large audience tomorrow. I sound TERRIBLE, and I've had nearly everyone I've spoken to today tell me exactly that. I sound like the worst caricature of stuffy talk, d's in place of n's, and not exaggerating at all.

I was studying with some friends in the library and one said "you sound so sick". When I sneezed, she made the most sympathetic "aww, honey" and rubbed my back for a little. That was sweet. I laid my head down on the table for a bit because I could hardly focus (my head and face in general are just pounding), and when I finally lifted my head I had a mess on my lip and I was scrambling to pull out a tissue before I descended into a sneezy mess. That came, surely enough, and another friend agreed that I sounded "really miserable".

The one saving grace is that this cold is mostly in my head and not my throat. My past few colds have come with terrible sore throats, but this one is mild in comparison. Too bad my head feels like a balloon full of sneezes waiting to burst...

Bless you! Falling ill during exams is just the worst. I've been there before. :hug:Good luck on your presentation, I'm sure you'll be glad to get that overwith. Keep us posted on how you're feeling, and thanks for sharing!
