Lucian Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 The title is confusing, I know, but all will be clear soon. By Chicken Joint, I mean that this observation occurred at a restaurant. I didn't get a good look at our poor protagonist either as I was with my family and couldn't get a good view. As my family and I were all chatting and waiting for our foodstuffs, we hear someone coughing violently. This poor woman must have had a drink go down the wrong pipe. In the middle of her coughing, I hear an "ATCHOO!" muffled into something. She then began alternating coughing and sneezing. When the coughing subsided, the poor dear couldn't help sneezing for the next 3 or 4 minutes. All the while my mind was in fetish-y bliss in that I feel sorry for you, but this is just too cute for words kind of way. Too bad I couldn't bless the poor thing or make sure she was alright. But that scene has been etched in my mind since it happened.
Victoria Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 I admit that the title of the post drew me in, lol. I had a co-worker once that would experience coughing fits which would then turn into sneezes. Not as long as 3 or 4 minutes, but usually a good 4 or 5 before she started coughing again. Inevitably someone would go and check in at the door of her office, to make sure she was okay by then. Still, it made for interesting mornings at the office. Thanks for sharing.
NoV Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 It's an interesting phenomenon, but I have seen several videos and real life obs when coughing and sneezing come as a sort of 'mixed fit'. It seems that with some people, coughing proves to be a precursor to starting to sneeze, to the extent when they can recognize an approaching fit by the appearance of their coughing.
