RockEdge27 Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Do you guys find that people with larger noses tend to sneeze harder and/or more often than people with smaller noses? Or is there not really any correlation between the two?
iheartsneezn Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Many (myself included) have made such postulations throughout the years, but these claims have remained unsubstantiated for the most part. If anything, nose shape and size are only notable as it relates to an individual's personal preference and enjoyment of someone's sneeze. Now, all logic and objectivity aside, I personally believe there to be some type of connection. Other threads have mentioned certain noses having an "allergic look". This I totally believe in. There's the legendary allerigic crease: a visible line that appears across the bridge of the the nose due to excessive rubbing. I've observed this feature in many "sneezy" people. I'm also of the mindset that certain nose features and shapes may indicate frequent obstruction and thus signify more frequent sneezing, but again this remains largely unsubstantiated.

I couldnt say it better. Yes, sometimes, if I see a guy, I think, he looks like he could have allergies. Though if there are not visible tearing eyes red nostrils etc at this moment. I cant explain it, maybe it was only random, but sometimes my suppose was correct...Luck for me...
NoV Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 As people have said above, I would love it to be true - the larger the nose resulting in bigger sneezes. I do find that if someone who has a large nose sneezes, this somehow heightens the thrill for me. Does having wider nostrils allow for more air, and therefore potential allergens, to be inhaled with each breath, thereby making that person more prone to sneezing? Medical studies must be conducted!

FadedRose Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I don’t think it really has a correlation. If you’re asking if we have preferences about nose shape/size, I really don’t care about the appearance of the nose. Just the sneeze itself :)
BillyS Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Certainly. People with button noses ( Scandinavians, east asians) gave wet sneezes. People with bigger noses have masculine sounding loud smeezes!!
Chanel_no5 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I don't think there's any correlation at all, honestly. One of the sneeziest people I know has a medium-small nose, and she sneezes A LOT and mostly HUGE sneezes. Someone else I know who has a massive nose, I've never seen sneeze at all. Ever. It's all about the nose's sensitivity, and that can vary greatly from individual to individual. 14 hours ago, BillyS said: People with button noses ( Scandinavians Wow, you're prejudiced.
Anonymouse Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I'm a vegan (so no butter), nostril size sixteen, and I have harder, wet sneezes than anyone I know. 🤷♀️

Anonymouse Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Mine goes off most standard charts. I have a different chart at home (physical copy) but I won't be home for a couple more days. Sorry to venture slightly off topic!
Femsnzspry Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I have a theory that up turned or ski slope noses spray more because there shape allows the spit and snot to freely project outward s
Coolio Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Can confirm nose shape and size doesn’t matter in the slightest as to how powerful a sneeze is. What matters is the persons lung capacity. So if they have quite a wide chest then the sneeze is likely to be more powerful. Also the bigger the breath inhaled before a sneeze the more powerful it will be. Also it depends on if the person is confident enough to fully let out a sneeze in its full force. Think how allergic or desperate the person is to sneeze has a part to play in how powerful it is. Usually find that people who enjoy sneezing have a wet sneeze and sometimes quite powerful.

wonderfulllife2013 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I have quite a set of nostrils and a very powerful sneeze but I’ve also seen folks with small noses who also sneeze quite strongly. I think it have more to do your individual sneeze reflex. Some people just have a normal sneeze, akin to a cough. Some folks have a lot of small, rapid releases which I believe add up to a single sneeze. And then there’s people like me who can peel paint off the walls 😮
sneezeboy Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 The sound and wetness of a sneeze has more to do with the mouth in my opinion. The nose plays the major(rather only) role in causing a sneeze as the irritant enters through the nose. And that is why its the nose that feels itchy. What comes out in a sneeze(spray),comes out through the mouth mainly.I'm not suggesting that "certain" types of mouths produce certain types of sneezes, I'm just refuting the notion that the shape or size of a nose affects the nature of the sneeze. It would make sense to say that people with larger noses would have more irritants enter and thus sneeze more often. But that doesn't seem to be true because girls tend to sneeze a lot and many of them have small noses. Feeling attracted to a certain type of nose is a another topic about which I'm just going to start a thread.
doggo Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 (edited) I think this might have more to do with vocal cords and lung capacity. Edited October 9, 2019 by doggo vocal CORDS. I would love to meet a vocal cod tho
