He caught a cold in the rain

My husband had to work an outdoor festival out of town, and he came back home with a cold. This is his story of how he caught it. It was insanely hot and he was doing a lot of physical work. Then in the afternoon, this intense thunderstorm approached, and he had to run around and take things down and secure tents and such - and then it POURED. He got completely soaked and chilled, he says he could feel rivulets of cold water running down his back. And he started to sneeze! He sneezed several times. Now I don't believe you can get sick from being out in the rain, but he swears it happened like that. The rain stopped but he didn't have a change of clothes so he was just damp the rest of the day. Then the crew went back to where they were staying and the air conditioning was cranked ridiculously high, and there was just one light blanket and it wasn't enough, and he was cold all night. He says he woke up with a sneeze a couple of times and in the morning had a full blown, stuffy, sneezy head cold. He kept having to run to a restaurant across the street from the festival to get napkins to blow his nose. Poor thing!!! 🤧

My mother still rants that this can happen; she'd be pleased that someone else believes it, too!

Awww, poor guy! This is actually such an adorable obs though. I don’t know why, but there is something so endearing to me about a guy catching a cold after being out in the rain. Hope he feels better soon! Thanks for sharing!

I really think it was a coincidence but maybe your mom is right! He's pretty much all better now, and for once I didn't catch it(I think I'm safe by now). 🙂 And he is soooo glad to be home!

Thank you! I also have special love for the catching cold after being caught in the rain concept. I think there were just a lot of media scenarios like that in cartoons and sitcoms and such growing up, the idea got stuck in my head. Something about the vulnerability and the cause/effect is appealing.
