On the phone

[Sneesee]

Tonight I chatted on the phone with my man of interest, J. We talked for about an hour about stuff, and I could tell that we were beginning to run out of nonsense to discuss. There was some silence, then he said to me, “I have to sneeze.” So, I waited. He didn’t sneeze. He said, “Or maybe not. But I feel like I have to, it’s still in there. I can feel it in the tip of my nose.” I had no idea what to say, so I just blurted out, “But it won’t come out, huh?” He said, “Not yet, but...” and then it happened. It was a bit loud and exaggerated. It sounded like, “Hey-ahhh-shoo!” I blessed him. The way he said “thank you” sounded so sweet, I can’t even describe why. He just sounded so sincere when he said it. I was about to speak again when I heard an intake of breath, and then a much softer sneeze from him. I blessed him again and got the same, sincere “thank you.” I just really adore him and his sneezes. I was so glad we stayed on the phone those few extra minutes, because we ended the call right after that.
