Sneeze quotations

When I was Googling for sneeze related stuff some time ago, I stumbled across a really evocative quote involving sneezing. Looking at the source led me to the site Jarofquotes, which turned out to have quite a few sneeze quotes. Some of them you've probably seen before, and some of them are random song lyrics that don't make a ton of sense, but there are quite a few good ones. So after perusing them, I decided to link to my top five favorites, plus one honorable mention.

I like this one because, given the way it's worded, it makes it sound like the "he" in the quote sneezes whenever he looks at the "her", which sounds like something one of us would come up with.

FIFTH PLACE

A sentiment I think we'd all agree with, although I think most of us prefer to watch a rousing sneeze rather than do it ourselves.

THIRD PLACE

There's a bit of duality in this quote. For most people, the point is that Turgnev isn't particularly religious, so the quote either comes off as snarky or cynical. For us, the big takeaway is an oblique reference to the photic sneeze reflex.

This was the quote that made me find Jarofquotes in the first place. It's very good at making you feel the discomfort implied, and the word choices (I like "vehement cold" in particular) and elaborate descriptions is on par with some of the stories on this site.

I don't fully know what this means (best guess is it's a fancy way of saying "art has to have some sort of meaning if it's going to resonate with its audience"), but speaking as both a writer and a sneeze fetishist, this appeals to me on multiple levels.

@MyOwnPrivateSFC That's a good one, though personally I've never found the act of sneezing to take me above the mundane. Daydreaming about certain other characters sneezing, however...

I mean...thinking about Stephan Jenkins thinking that about sneezing certainly takes me above the mundane! 😈
