Thread deleted? "Is it because of the smell?"

Just saw that the thread "Is it because of the smell" has been deleted? Reasons? Can admin give any feedback?

I’m not a mod, but I did notice that several people had posted their contact info in that thread (which is against Forum rules). So maybe Staff hid it while they go through all the posts checking for contact details?

It was hidden as it was an old topic being necro'd and as mentioned, posting contact info on the main boards is forbidden.

Not trying to rebel against rules or anything but curious as to why it is forbidden?

Wouldn't it be more like 'post at your own risk'?

I imagine it's a liability thing.

It is explained, at least in part, in the forum's constitution/rules as follows:

• Our members value their privacy. As such, we do not permit the posting of personal details (yours or anyone else's) in open forum. You may share your own personal information in your profile (e-mail, messenger IDs, etc.). You may *not* share personal information about another member anywhere on the forum, be it posting, blogging or in chat. As well, we strongly discourage our underage members from posting any personal details in their profiles, for their protection.

Some may agree with this, some may disagree, but that's the rule.
