AlexK
The Great Sphinx of Giza is know for a lot of things. Most notably, it's missing nose. There are a lot a theories about exactly what happened to it. But today, I wanna talk about my personal theory about how the sphinx lost its nose. Legend has it that long ago, a mysterious spell was cast on the sphinx. The terms of this spell stated that every night when everyone in Giza was asleep, The head of the sphinx would come alive while the rest of it's body would unexplainably remain stone much to it's dismay. All it could do was admire the sights, sounds and smells of Giza. Every night would remain the same until one eventful evening when a huge sand storm happened and the sphinx was unfortunate enough to be in the center of it! The sphinx could do nothing but keep it's eyes shut for a whole hour until the storm finally ended. While the sphinx was happy that the storm was over, it also cause a lot of sand to fly up it's nose causing it to tickle and itch like hell! Unfortunately, the tickling and itching wasn't enough to make it sneeze for some reason. The sphinx and it's nose would remain in torture for another couple of hours until couple of small birds name bill and bob flew by and overheard the sphinx trying to sneeze. "ah...ah...ah...ah..." The birds decided to fly over to the sphinx and investigate and noticed the sphinx's nose kept twitching. Sphinx: ah...Oh my...ah...it's always good...ah...to have...ah...company. Bill: Wow! I never knew the sphinx could talk! But we gotta ask, why do you keep making that strange noise? Bob: Yeah, and why does your nose keep twitching? Sphinx: ah...If you two...ah...must know...ah...a huge,...ah...sand storm...ah...blew a lot...ah...of sand up my...ah...nose and...I've been trying to...ah... sneeze it out...ah...all night!...ah...but maybe you...ah...can help me! Bill: Really? Bob: What can we do? Sphinx: ah...one of you can...ah...fly of my...nose and...tickle it enough...to make me...sneeze!...ah...will you...ah...help me? "Well, anything for the great sphinx of Giza!" Bill said as he flew up one of the sphinx's nostrils. He then used it's wings and tail to tickle it's nose as much as he can like he was instructed causing the nose to twitch even more! Bob: Do you feel the sneeze coming yet? Sphinx: AH...Almost...AH...But my...AH...nose is...AH...still not...AH...cooperating!...AH... You're gonna...AH...have to...AH...fly up...my other...AH...nostril...AH...and push it...AH...over...the edge! Bob: Alright. But I doubt I'm gonna like it. And so bob did as the sphinx instructed and used his feathers to tickle it's nose just like bill. The sphinx could feel the sneeze finally coming. But it would soon realized that its plan would work too well. Sphinx: AH...IT'S WORKING!...AAHH...IT'S COMING!...AAAHHH...I'M GONNA...AAAAHHHH...GONNA...AAAAAHHHHH...AAAAAAHHHHHH...AAAAAAAHHHHHHH...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHСССНННННННННOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! The sphinx sneezed so hard that it blew its nose right off of its face sending it flying across Giza! Fortunately, the birds were unharmed. You may think the sphinx was upset to have it's nose blown off, but it actually didn't mind. It may no longer enjoy the smells of Giza, but at least it didn't had to worry about another sand storm torturing as much. And that's my personal theory on how the sphinx lost its nose.
