Saimou
I’m fully prepared that people might get offended and mad, and throw sharp objects at me; but I feel like this needs to be shared; and I mean this in no offensive way, whatsoever. Just a little disclaimer. So, I recently stumbled upon a rather interesting discovery that apparently, there’s a fatwa by Bukhari in Islam that basically says that: ”Allah is happy with you, when you sneeze; but when you yawn, He gets upset with you.” If so, I must really agree with Allah on that. Yawns are just so frustrating and disappointing. Sneezes are the real treat. As the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) put it: ”Sneezing is from Allah; yawning is from Satan. – – Allah loves sneezing and hates yawning.” At least, according to this website: https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/87729/proofs-related-to-yawning-and-sneezing Discussion is welcome. Thank you! Take care and keep sneezing. Saimou Link to comment
Heathcliff
That seems like a really mundane object for a fatwa. It used to be Salman Rushdie, now it's... yawning. 😐 "Therefore, it is disliked for a person to yawn deliberately but if he can’t avoid it, then there is no problem." Actually, that sounds like a non-starter. Who can yawn deliberately? I mean sure you can pretend to. Link to comment

Yeah, from what I understand, fatwas can basically be given by a mufti for any question that just happens to puzzle someone, however mundane. I also don’t know, when this fatwa was given, though if the mufti, who originally gave it, was indeed Bukhari, as I suspected in my original post, it’s probably pretty old, since, apparently, Bukhari lived between 810–870 A.D. 🤔. Yeah, I also don’t know a case of deliberate yawning, at least not 100%. I mean, you can coax the yawns out, but some degree of need to yawn usually needs to be present, in the first place. Regardless, that fatwa should seem pretty relatable to those of us, who know the pain and frustration of seeing their crush shut their eyes, open their mouth and bring their hand(s) to their face, and, lo-and-behold, it turns out to be a yawn .
