loud_itchynose
Hey guys! I’m back with another sneezy tale of my nose. Usually in my other observation where I’ve written about my allergies, they’ve always been related to dust or pollen (my 2 main allergies). However, something that I’ve recently noticed is that certain scents have started to make me sneeze! I hadn’t put it together until this morning after I had a bout of the sneezes and sniffles. Thinking back, the first time this had happened was when I was repainting my room. I had expected to sneeze from the dust being kicked up from moving things around but not from the paint smell. I know some people feel nauseous from paint smell but I didn’t think it would make me sneeze. My sneezes are somewhat loud and I tend to spray which is really embarrassing so I always make sure I’m covering myself. While the paint was drying was when the smell really hit me “HA-HA-HAESSHOO” “HACHOO HAESHOO AH-AHESHOO” over and over again. It was insane, but I hadn’t associated it with the smell yet. The next time this happened was sometime last week and my neighbours had been varnishing their wooden floors with some kind of polish. Oooooh the smell from the varnish was so strong and it was as though it had somehow crawled under the doors and up into my nose! It brought on a volley of harsh sneeze “HA-CHOO HAESHOO HASHOO AH-CHOO HAESSHOO ESHOO” where it left me bent at the waist. My nose was streaming and I scrambled to wipe myself dry. At this point was when I sort of realised that the strong varnish scent was making me sneeze like crazy. But today was when I really put it all together… I was getting ready to go out and I had sprayed myself with my perfume. It’s a new perfume from Bath and Body Works and it’s raspberry Jam doughnut flavoured. While it smells absolutely delicious, it has this powerdy kind of underscent. Usually it doesn’t bother me but oooooh today it really did. Again I went “HA-ESHOO HACHOO HEHCHOO HA-ESHOO HAESHOO HACHOO H-Ha-HACHOO” over and over again. As I turned away while sneezing into my arm, I wasn’t sucessfull at covering where I sprayed my arm over and over sneezing hard. Both sides of my nose were dripping and I searched for tissues. I blew my nose thrice with a gurgly first two blows, pinching my nose as I wiped it. I had to get even more tissues to wipe my nose. It was definitely one of my more messier sneeze days. Moral of the story, I think I might be retiring that perfume and avoiding strong scents at all cost for a while! Honestly i’m just glad I was alone when all 3 of these episodes happened, I would have been so embarrassed sneezing like that around someone else. Link to comment
loud_itchynose
Bonus Story about the Bath and Body Works perfume! I had bought that perfume while I was out with some friends and y’all know what bath and body works smells like right? For anyone that doesn’t, it’s like someone combined all the perfumes and soaps in the shop into one bottle and sprayed it all over. At this point while me and a friend were looking at the jam perfumes, another girl we were with let’s call her J was starting to get a bit overwhelmed with all the scents. She stifled 2 sneezes by pinching her nose “HNNXT” “HUH-HNNXT”. After sneezing she sniffed and fanned the air around her. That was all the sneezes for now, until the girl who was looking at the jam perfumes with me, let’s call her K called her over. “J come smell this! It’s so good” while holding out a tester for her to smell. That did it and J stifled another 2 more squelchy sneezes. We laughed at her sneezes and quickly sped up to go pay for our stuff to give poor J’s nose a break. Link to comment
