starpollen Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 (edited) Shout out to @Kolenfor the inspiration for this. I had other things in the works but this nudged its way to the front. No sneezing in this part. But… Survey question at the end!…😉 This story exists in this universe It’s not necessary to read that first, but it might help. 👍🏻 —- If they hadn’t replaced nearly all his cranial structure when the accident happened, he might not have survived the encounter. But that’s why a man on the brink of death would agree to live a half-life, right? To become more. To be something different, better. Someone that could make a difference. The NHSSI had promised him that he could do that, could be that. In the last 4 years, they had delivered on that promise. He had been allowed to do what he excelled at: being a ruthless hunter, a blight on the non-human sapiens who were demons preying on humanity. Delivering his own brand of vengeance for his loss. Not that he was human anymore. He didn’t know what he was. It made him sick to think about it. So. It didn’t matter. He pushed it all down until it didn’t affect his actions, his decisions. He did his job, was almost as good at it as the legendary Draven. He had trained with the older Hunter for months, bled and sweated and battled for perfection in the field. Had hammered his emotions down into a horseshoe of control. Which led him to this very moment. He had hunted this unique Siren down and finally cornered her in the dank basement of the abandoned warehouse (because - let’s be honest - we all live in clichés) only to cock his head at her while she tried in vain to use her sapien voice to manipulate him. It would have worked, if he’d still had his human eardrums. As it was, her svelte tones registered as computerized syllables. ‘You will let me go. You will forget all about me.’ “Sorry, Princess,” he drolled. “You’re done. I’ll be taking you back for further study and nothing you can say will make me change my mind.” Her wide, dark eyes blinked once, twice, as if they couldn’t believe what he had said. The constant hum and click and whir of machinery in his body filled his hearing while his bionic eyes studied her in a photographic series of black and white. “You don’t hear me,” she cocked her gorgeous head, studying him with predatory alertness. “No,” he acknowledged. “Not as a human would.” “You’re not human?” she asked, sounding almost pitying. “No,” he growled, all machines coming online in a flare of anger. “Not anymore.” —- So. Which one gets the sneezes? Siren or Cyborg? Allergies or illness? We’ll go majority rules - OR - whoever comes up with the better plot line. I’m so excited to see what you guys might want to read. 🤩 Edited December 21, 2021 by starpollen
EveP Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Exciting! How would a cyborg handle/react to a cold, and what would a siren do if she couldn't use her voice?
darkness-is-the-light Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 One of my favorite things is a humanoid robot/cyborg type character not being able to get sneezes out on their own…
Purplelily Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 The siren should have a cold! I’d love to see her vulnerable. But either way, I’m looking forward to reading this next story, your writing is always lovely
Gallatea Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Um one gets a cold and passes it to the other! Not picky w who starts!!
starpollen Posted December 22, 2021 Author Posted December 22, 2021 @Jutomaybe you’ll give me another prompt for the second part? Your prompts are the best!
Kolen Posted December 25, 2021 Posted December 25, 2021 Yay! Um, @starpollen 🥺🥺 Could I try to write something similar using the concepts of this idea and mentions of your characters, perhaps..? I have a few things in mind.. If not, that's totally alright, as you own every right to them. I still wanted to ask, though. _wubsmiley_
Elyze Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 I'm so happy this universe gets another story! I absolutely loved the first one! I vote for the cyborg, cursing how they had improved on everything else in his previously human body but somehow left him with some new odd allergies (or left him with old ones, I'm not picky).
