Trynasneeze Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Family obs are not something that interest me obviously, but I thought some of you put there may like it. For Christmas, me and my fiance went to stay with my parents from Xmas Eve through boxing day. I have three sisters. Two of them (my younger sister (S) + one of my older sisters (A) stayed over on Xmas Eve as well. A brought her husband with her as well. Anyway, when A arrived early afternoon Christmas Eve she told us to keep our distance a little as she "was coming down with a cold". She definitely had a sniffle and was sounding a bit stuffy. Throughout the afternoon and into the evening she kept sneezing (probably about once every half hour or so, kind of like "HehhSHOO!" normally into her hands), and she got quite sniffly a few times and had to go blow her nose in the bathroom. The following morning (Christmas), she'd definitely come down with it. We all got together to exchange gifts in the living room around 10am. A seemed pretty tired, and her voice sounded classic congested (m's and n's sounding like b's and d's). She was sniffing a fair amount and still quite sneezy. Although today the sneezes sounded louder and sicker. She had a men's handkerchief with her today and was using it to cover her sneezes. She also turned away a few times to blow her nose in the hanky. After Christmas lunch her and her husband decided to drive home rather than stay another night, as he said he was starting to feel a bit of sore throat coming on as well, and they didn't want to get everyone else sick.
NoV Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 As a bit of a germaphobe, I find these situations particularly tricky when you feel obligated to have people in your house (like family members) who are obviously ill, especially as I will go out of my way not to see people if I know I am sick.
Trynasneeze Posted January 1, 2022 Author Posted January 1, 2022 Had new years with some of the family last night and sister is fine now, however her husband is still sick; and my mum and my younger sister both seem to have caught it from them
Paul Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 They stick around at the beginning of the cold where it's most contagious and then head home when they feel tired/headache. Seems the preventative measures worked about as well as you'd expect. Thanks for sharing!
