ItchyNostrils
I’ve become under the weather over this past week 😅 (tested and negative for COVID). Normally I’m not the sneezy type when I’m sick, usually I’m just sniffly and stuffy and maybe a little tickly in the nose. However I’ve had some sneezes…and they seem much stronger and more urgent than my usual sneezes. Last night I was curled up in a blanket in the reclining part of my sectional, with my roommate across the room on their computer. I could feel the familiar pressure start building in my nose, so I was sniffling a bit extra and rubbing my nose, as I’m not the biggest fan of sneezing in front of others. But this itch wasn’t going away. So I figured letting out one sneeze might be worth the relief. And of course when one wants to sneeze, it doesn’t come out right away 😅 So there’s me sneaking glances at the overhead lights, squinting and feeling the sneeze build, but looking away and trying to act normal as my roommate would look at or speak to me. Finally after about 5 minutes of this (felt like eternity) a couple gasps later I sneezed a strong double into my arm/elbow. One time of very few that I wished tissues were more common in my house… my bare arm was covered in the wet spray from both fully let out sneezes. My roomie casually blessed me, and I blushed and continued sniffling the rest of the evening. Link to comment

ItchyNostrils
Who would’ve known I’d have another interesting update to this situation! Firstly, I am allowed in my office masked because of the nature of my symptoms I’ve tested negative 😊 So this afternoon I’m working away in my office, putting my mask on every time I leave my desk or someone comes to see me. I had been chatting in the doorway of my office neighbour with my mask up when I sniffled and felt a tickle at the bottom edge of one of my nostrils. I quickly excused myself back to my office. I was standing over my computer and keyboard typing my credentials in when I remembered I had left my office to begin with to go to a filing room. I unhooked my mask from one side so it hung beside my face on one ear while I quickly checked my email before setting off again for the filing room. Standing there I felt a sneeze threatening to take over, so I hovered over my desk waiting. I was hoping it would come before I had to leave my office again. In the midst of my dilemma, my office neighbour came rounding the corner to say something to me. I attempted to quickly get my mask back on… but ended up fully grabbing the mask and holding it to my face by the middle to make sure the sneeze was covered. I half stifled it 😅 Link to comment

Seems to keep dragging on over here 😅 Took a rapid covid test last night (to confirm I was still negative) and I couldn’t help but let a couple more sneezes out. Usually my illnesses aren’t the sneezy kind, but I’ve definitely been having more sneezes than normal! Link to comment

What did you do about the spray on your arm afterwards? And how do you usually handle a situation like that? Just curious, since I also have wet spraying sneezes that I cover with my elbow. I've gotten better about letting them out in public over time, but I still feel self-conscious about people seeing me wipe my arm off afterwards. Link to comment

Uh I can’t exactly recall what I did to be honest 😅 I probably either rubbed my arm on my blanket or let it kind of dry itself? I probably wouldn’t let mine out like that in public 🙈 I already get embarrassed calling attention myself sneezing loudly, so stifles in public for me!! Love an elbow sneeze on someone else in public though 😁 Link to comment
