Graduation

Hi everyone! It’s been a few years since I’ve written a story with my characters Emily and Miles, but here they are again! Hope you enjoy

Miles opened his eyes blearily. 
“Good morning.” I whispered and planted a kiss on his bare shoulder. 
“Good morning.” He gave me a sleepy smile which then grew into a yawn. 
“Today’s the day, Dr. Miles!” I could barely contain my excitement.
After so many years of school, and long distance between Germany and the States, Miles was finally graduating. He would be a doctor! 
Miles brought my hand to his lips. He sniffled. My ears perked up right away - he always got sneezy on a schedule. In the Spring, it was like clockwork. 
He’d wake up and rumble at me with his congested morning voice before surrendering to a string of itchy, wet sneezes. It was a routine I was getting used to. I’d wake up gleefully, waiting for the inevitable explosions. 
He glanced over at me, noticing how my cheeks were undoubtedly beginning to redden already. He winked and brought my hand to his nose, then used it to rub back and forth. As if that would do anything. 
In the years we’d been separated by the ocean, keeping up with each other on daily FaceTime calls, I’d seen him rub his nose before. It was useless. Once the itch started, he didn’t have a prayer. 

“Hhhhh…”

He began to hitch. I leaned in closer to him, his stomach expanding under my hands as he slowly lost control. 

“hhTschhhhuh!” His head snapped forward and he sent the sneeze into my neck. I shivered with pleasure. 
“Bless…” I started. But he was already gearing up for the next. 
“Huh… Ischhhiuh! Tschhhhuh! Hhhh….”

He gasped for breath before another set came barrelling out. 
“Huhischhhuh! HuhTschhhuh!”

He directed each one into the same, sensitive spot on my neck. I held him tight as his nose finally gave him relief. He settled into my chest and gave me a sly smile. 
“Bless you.” I breathed. 
“Thank you.” Miles said, more congested than before. He reached over to grab a tissue from the night stand. The tissue came up to meet his nose, nostrils wide. He turned his head to blow but I gently turned his chin back to face me. His eyes met mine, beginning to redden already from the allergens he could feel in the air. 
He blew his nose wetly, not looking away from me. I shivered again. 
“Tschhh’iuh!” A sneeze caught him by surprise. He caught it in the tissue and continued to blow his nose. 
I kissed his dark hair. Today was going to be a good day.

Yes! Emily and Miles are back. I remember reading the story you wrote about Miles and his cold and loving it! Miles is still such a cutie and I wouldn’t mind taking Emily’s place and blessing him.
