Caught a coworkers cold

A coworker came in with what seemed to be the beginning of a cold. I was talking to her throughout the day on Friday and managed to catch it. If you don’t like mess I suggest you stop reading now.

 

Yesterday I noticed I started getting a sore throat, but I had so much energy at the beginning of the day that I didn’t believe I was getting sick. When I went to work I started feeling really run down half way into the day, and I was starting to get a headache. I have a very labor intensive job, and by the time i was finished 6 hours later I was exhausted. When I got home I started getting a runny nose. Not super runny, just sort of wet, I was constantly pawing at it.

 

When I went to bed I kept waking up every hour because I kept going back and forth between freezing and sweating hot. I was randomly wide awake at around 4am with a very runny nose that was getting pretty congested. I checked my temp and it ranged from 99.8-101.4 over the course of the next two hours. I stuffed two pieces of tissue up my nose to stop it from running, and proceeded to go to sleep for another couple of hours before having to get up again for work.

 

My fever broke by the time I woke up, and I knew there was no way I could get out of closing today because I was functional and (at the time) fever free. I was very congested and noticed my snot had a hint of green.

 

When I got to work I was SO happy I was wearing a mask because I was… a mess. I would try and sniffle every now and then but I didn’t want to draw attention (I get really self conscious when people see me sick) so it was sort of just running there until I could get away and blow my nose. Keep in mind this opportunity came once every few hours. When I took off my mask there was thick bright green snot running from my nose down to my lip. This happened every time few hours when I’d get a chance to blow my nose. I would’ve been so embarrassed if anyone saw me like that. My throat and head were getting progressively more painful as the day went on, and when I’d bend over and get back up my head would pound for a good 30 seconds or so.

 

I’m now sitting at home as a sniffly mess. I have a bunch of family over so it’s the worst timing right now. I’d kill for some alone time right now. I’ve only sneezed a couple of times, both stifles. But I have a feeling I’ll be sneezy tomorrow or the next day. One can only assume after the day I’ve had today. I am so so tired.

Awww, bless you. I hate being sick with family around. I'm supposed to go to my parents house for almost a week starting tomorrow and have a cold and am really hoping I can mostly hide it from them.

Oh man that sounds like pretty inconvenient timing for a cold! Hope you've got plenty of tissues and hankies to take care of your snotty nose and that you feel better asap!
