Lime
Today I was on Zoom with an old friend of mine. My allergies were really acting up, and like many on this forum I feel self-conscious about sneezing and blowing my nose in fornt of people, so throughout our call I briefly turned my cam and mic off multiple times, which they ofc picked up on. "L... why do you turn your camera off for seconds at a time? Are you farting or something?" "No... it's just, pollen's really bad today." "...You turn your camera off to sneeze?" "Yeah..." "Do you have like a really weird loud sneeze? Like HEEEAAAAOOOTTTCHHEWWW! ?" "No, I just don't like sneezing in front of people." "...OK..." Is this a weird thing? Surely not? Back me up here, who else turns their cam off to sneeze? Link to comment
RB
I don’t have a problem sneezing in front of other people generally, but I usually wear a headset on zoom. I don’t want to blow out anyones eardrums, so I will mute. I was on a zoom call a few weeks ago with a few colleagues and the woman speaking at the time excused herself to walk out of frame to sneeze. We all laughed and teased her a bit because her mannerisms implied she thought she’d be sneezing on us if she didn’t move. She pretty much confirmed that was her (impulsive) thought process. I think it’s instinct for most people. I wouldn’t consider it weird at all. Link to comment
