This dang cold of mine (self)

This year I've had some pretty bad luck. I think I've had three head colds now within 2 months. But while the last 2 only hung around a couple days each, this current cold seems to be in it for the long haul. 

Last weekend I started getting a sore throat, which lasted until Wednesday. Tuesday I had a very sneezy day which I have already posted about. But Wednesday was when the cold truly began. 

Wednesday 

I woke up for work in the morning as usual. My throat felt a bit better but my nose was already a bit sniffly when I woke up. 

I went into work and by the time I got in had already sneezed twice ("HEHSHOO!!") Once while I was getting dressed and the other time while I was in line to get coffee. 

The sneezes didn't really let up. I kept sneezing fairly frequently all throughout work, usually into my cupped hands: "EHHSHOO!!" But today the sneezes were a bit wetter than yesterday and I was having to go blow my nose in the bathroom after most of them. 

By the time I got home that evening, I think I had sneezed around twenty times at work and my nose was starting to feel quite drippy. I'd had to keep sniffling at it towards the end of work in between sneezes/nose blows, and when I got home I immediately grabbed out a handkerchief. 

I think I sneezed about once every 15-20 minutes the rest of the evening and was continually blowing my runny nose in the hanky. My voice was also sounding kind of stuffy if I hadn't blown my nose recently. 

I was pretty tired that night so I went to bed early, nose still very runny. I sneezed twice into my bedcovers while I was attempting to fall asleep. 

Thursday

I woke up twice in the night, once at 2am, and again at 5.30am as the congestion had begun to set into one side of my nose. 

At 5.30 I sneezed violently "HUHSHOO!! SHOO!!" while I was awake, startling my fiancée a little (who luckily has not caught this). 

I got up for work as I really don't like taking sick days, but today I was smart enough to bring a hanky. (Actually two).

I sneezed while I was showering, I sneezed again as I was drying myself, I sneezed on the way to work three times in a row. And today they were productive. 

All day long I had a blocked nose on one side while it was super runny at the same time. I think that as much as I hate to sniff, if I hadn't been sniffing a lot today I would have had to blow my nose every five minutes. 

All through work I sneezed every 20-30 minutes or so, except today they were mostly doubles "HEHSHOO!! EHHSHOO!!" Almost all of which required me to pull out my hanky and give my drippy nose a good blow. 

I got a good few "bless you"s and a couple of co-workers asking me if I had a cold. (Which I think was pretty obvious, with my sneezing, sniffing, nose blowing and stuffy voice). 

When I got home I was exhausted. I basically spent the whole evening in an armchair, handkerchief at the ready to catch my big sneezes, and a roll of TP handy for all the nose blowing. I think I must have sneezed 50+ times all up on Thursday

Friday 

The last day of the sneezes. No more sore throat by now but my nose was super stuffy - I had to use decongestant spray 4 times that day. 

My nose was now pink from a lot of blowing it. And luckily getting less drippy but still very productive. I only had half a day of work today so I pushed through (with my last 2 hankies), sneezing (back to singles - but big "EAAHHSHOO!!"s) every half hour or so and blowing my nose all the time. 

When I got home in the afternoon I swapped out my very well-used hankies for a roll of paper towel from the kitchen, before finally going out and buying myself a box of mansize tissues. (My nose thanked me big time). 

Saturday/Sunday

A few sneezes the last couple days but much much less. My nose is still super congested, and I've spent much of the weekend at home doing odds and ends that need doing, stopping to grab a tissue and blow my nose once  every 10-15 minutes. 

I've done some laundry today and my hankies are on the washing line, pretty sure I'll need them again for work tomorrow as this cold is nowhere near cleared up yet

Thanks guys, unfortunately not over yet. My nose has been stuffy all day and still quite productive. 

I probably sneezed a total of 10 times today, but each time left me in urgent need of blowing my nose! Something I've been needing to do five times an hour regardless

Yep sure did. I brought three hankies to work with me today (all of which were used), and am back at home slowly working through a box of tissues
