Any tinkerers, gearheads, DIYer's on here?

I like to build things from junk, various contraptions in which safety flies out the window. I like fixing things with whatever I have laying around. I recently slapped a Ford Escort carburetor onto a Toyota Tercel 4wd wagon. I had to make an adapter plate and I had to cobble together a throttle linkage from some aluminum angle scrap pieces,a spring, nuts and bolts, and some wire I had. It runs, it needs some fine tuning yet though. What are some crazy contraptions/modifacations some of you guys have done?

i mainly do diy's for renfaires, just to save myself money and because i tend to want something SUUper specific that would cost a fortune to get custom made. 

i made a set of fairy wings, some trinkets that hung from my belt, and upcycled a basket to carry all of my frivolous purchases in this year. last year i made a flower crown (which needs some reinforcement before i head back; hopefully this season). nothing too crazy, mostly just decorating and building costume pieces.

That's cool!It's good to be able to save money anywhere you can. Even though i try to fix everything myself I still seem to end up spending the majority of my income before my next paycheck.

I've been meaning to check out a renfaire at least once. They do look pretty cool.
