Let's just say I've had some inspiration lately.

Also, warning for medical professional at work with a messy possibly contagious cold. It is fiction, but if you are eeeked out by that I understand.

His nose was perfect. It was big, but not too big for his face and extra noticeable due to the red tinge. Although obvious given the huskiness of his voice, throat clearing, and sniffling of those red round nostrils, he still politely apologized for getting over a bit of a cold as he moved my shirt, expertly placing the ekg stickers on my chest. I of course told him it was fine as he moved around, moving on to the little wires.

It was just a routine visit to my cardiologist so I wasn’t worried about anything and smiled enjoying the closeup view of those round red nostrils. I wondered how he was going to handle it as I watched moisture begin to gather at the bottom of his right nostril. Question answered as he took a deep sniff, sucking the moisture back up, however his nose definitely disagreed with this remedy. I imagined the droplet being sucked back up, irritating the inner part of his nose, leaving him helpless as the sensation pushed him over the edge.

He dropped the leads and spun quickly away from me. All I could do was watch as he fumbled a little but successfully pulled his undershirt and scrubs up over his nose as there was one strong intake of breath before he doubled over with the loudest sneeze I had heard in a while. It echoed in the small clinic room and was breathtaking given my particular kink.

“Bless…” was all I could get out before he bent forward again. The sneezes each marked by very distinct syllables “hU’RESH’SHOOOOOO!” I paused this time in blessing him. Although mostly turned from me I could still see his eyes flutter shut as he kept his head slightly down and doubled over even further with a final “hEH’HHSHOOOOOO!”

“Blesss you!” No wonder he hadn’t just sneezed into his elbow. With a sneeze like that I was sure the inside of his shirt was drenched, not that I minded of course. Apparently, others felt differently as a female nurse walked in without even knocking.

“Go home Johnson, before you infect this entire building! I’m so sorry ma’am, I would have never let him come back to work if I wasn’t told he was GETTING OVER his cold.” His cheeks reddened at her gaze, and he gave me a sorrowful look that made me want to smack the lady for talking to him like that.

“It’s fine, it’s just a cold.” I tried to assure them both. If either one believed me, it was not evident.

“I’m sorry.” He ducked his head in apology to me before grabbing a few tissues and emptying his nose. The woman cringed in disgust and backed away from him as he left the office room.

“I’m sorry about that.” If only she had been sorry for how she actually treated the poor guy.

“Really, I didn’t mind.” I tried to keep the anger out of my voice. I was busy having the best appointment ever and here she had to come and ruin it. As she took over his job, her cold hands just gave me one more reason to hate her.

***

I shivered as I climbed into my car. It was cold enough to make my nose run but not cold enough that the car heater wouldn’t quickly chase away the chill. I grabbed a tissue from my pocket and cleared my nose of the runny mucous while replaying the scene of the nurse in my head. The next shiver that ran down  my spine had nothing to do with the cold.

Oh well, probably wouldn’t see him again. But as I drove back home the sight of someone walking had me pulling off to the side. As a short female I almost never stop for strangers, but that silhouette looked so familiar. I rolled my window down. Maybe there was a god out there.

“Hop in, I’ll give you a ride.”

Glassy eyes looked back and I could tell he was unsure.

“Seriously, I don’t mind that you’re sick.”

Still hesitation as he brought his sweatshirt covered arm up to his nose to dab away some of the wetness.

“Will you just get in already before I get cold!” I added a little umph to my voice and he finally obeyed, setting his backpack between his legs. Almost as soon as he shut the door he started an apology that was quickly interrupted.

“Sor hih sorry,” his head tilted back and I wondered if I would get lucky enough to witness similar explosions as earlier.

“I hih’ no’ot againd… heh HEH,” he pulled his collar up and covered his now bright red nose “HUUUREEEESSSHHHHOOOOOO!”

I waited a second to see if there would be more but his shoulders seemed to relax a bit.

“Goodness, Bless you!” I put the car in gear and resumed the drive, “There are tissues in the glovebox.”

I tried not to blatantly stare but gosh his nose was perfect. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat as he debated accepting the offer of tissues or use, what I could now see, was a well used sleeve covered in thick lines of glossy snot.

Eyes on the road, must have eyes on the road. But I was compelled to watch out of the corner of my eye as he grabbed a few tissues but avoided blowing as well as he needed to.

“Thags. I’b really sorry, and I combletely uderstand if you wadt to kick be to the curb…”

I wasn’t in the mood for his apology this time, “Really, kick you out because you have a cold.”

He snuffled against the tissues and I wanted so badly to tell him to just blow his nose.

“I’b a mess.”

“Well, you’re an adorable mess.” Wait, did I just say that out loud. I felt my cheeks heat up.

“I jusd…”

Okay, that was enough. “Will you blow your nose please,” I let sympathy fill my voice, “I mean really blow. So you can be comfortable and I can understand what you are saying.”

Poor thing still seemed unsure but stuffed the already soaked tissues in his pocket and grabbed a few more giving the most delicious gurgly full sounding blow.

“Better?”

“Yeah, Angie was right, I should have never gone to work. I really was doing better this morning.”

“Ahhh, so Angie is the name of the witch with the cold hands.”

Finally, I cracked him. He chuckled… then pulled his shirt back up as he dissolved into a fit of coughing. Poor guy. I don’t know if it was bravery or stupidity that prompted my next move, but I reached my hand out and rested it on his back. The movement of his back as he coughed was… exhilarating. This kink was so confusing sometimes. I alternated between wanting to take him home and cuddle him, and a desire to do some more adult activities.

As his breathing slowed he lifted his head and I pretended not to notice as he tried to hide spitting into the tissues.

“You okay?” I’m pretty sure I was blushing again but tried to keep my voice steady.

“Yeah. I am so so sorry.”

That got my voice back on the track of exasperation, “Will you please quit apologizing. I really really do not mind.”

He assessed my face for long enough that it was awkward but also enough time for him to realize I was telling the truth.

“I appreciate it,” he gave a half smile and hell he could have me eating out of the palm of his hand right now. “I live in the apartments on 7th street. If that’s too far out of your way, drop me off wherever, it’ll be closer than where I started.”

“Woodlawn,” okay, there was definitely a god, “what building?”

“Ten.” He ceased looking at me and rested his head against the window giving a contented sigh. Must have a fever.

I pretended to be a little put out, “It’s a little out of the way… but I live in building three and think I can hazard the long drive to the other parking area.”

“Really?” Although it was a question, his voice perked up and I was hoping he was as happy as I was with the situation. Or was I imagining the sparks in my fetish induced haze as I watched his fingers rub his twitching nose again. His eyes flickered shut, but then his shoulders went down again as he let out a relieved sigh.

When he looked back at me I realized I was biting my lip and I’m pretty sure I failed miserably at pretending I wasn’t intrigued. I would not have been surprised if my cheeks were the lovely shade of red that his nose was. Thankfully he broke the awkward silence.

“Thag you,” he paused realizing how congested he sounded and grabbed a few more tissues, giving in and letting out another huge gurgly blow. I’m surprised the tissues were able to hold the mess. He grimaced a little and I could see him try to shrink himself down again as he timidly said, “Excuse me. Thank you for the ride. I really appreciate it and am grateful you aren’t completely disgusted by this,” he loosely moved his hand up and down indicating himself as a whole.

“It’s fine,” I could see him gain a little height again acknowledging my words and genuine smile, “people get sick. Although if I catch this I might expect soup from a friendly neighbor.” I winked. Oh gosh, did I seriously just wink.

He chuckled, which turned into a cough, but he was able to keep it mostly under control and aimed at his fist. “It’s a deal. Although I really hope you dod’t catch this. Id’s miserable. I thought I would’t be condagious by this poind.”

“It’s okay. Just blow your nose and enjoy the ride. I’m Sam by the way.” I smiled as he grabbed more tissues and let out another flood of mucous. “Ugh, I’m Dave, it’s nice to more formally meet you.”

***

I stood pacing in my apartment. We had exchanged info just in case ‘either one of us needed something’, but I wanted to go right now. But is that awkward? Maybe I should bring soup? Wait, I’m horrible at cooking soup. Bring cans of soup? That seems pathetic. Tissues, would tissues be a good enough excuse? I always had extra boxes of nice tissues due to having horrendous fall allergies. Or would I just be interrupting him actually getting some sleep? Maybe I should text first. What if that gave him more time to say no?

My body finally gave up with my panicked brain and I found myself walking to Dave’s apartment with tissues in hand, still mentally rattling through ‘what ifs’. Wait, was that a familiar cough I heard. He had changed clothes, as had I, into something more comfortable. For him it was a loose pair of sweat pants and a different sweatshirt. Dave finished coughing and threw a bag of trash in the dumpster before heading back to the elevator. I quickened my pace and caught up to him waiting for the lift next to two other people.

“Hey stranger!”

He turned and muffled a cough into his sleeve before speaking. “Didn’t expect to see you so soon.”

At first I worried that maybe I had made the wrong choice, except he was smiling at me.

“I thought maybe you could use some extra supplies.”

The elevator dinged and I walked in with everyone figuring worst case scenario he would turn me away at his door.

But this looked like it was going to be far from the worst case scenario, at least for me. As soon as the doors shut he sniffed and got that far away look in his eyes. Eyebrows knit together and a panicked expression crossed his features before he took the first hitching breath. His chest expanded. I didn’t know what the other two passengers were thinking, but either they didn’t notice or were pretending not to. Another deep breath, chest expanding even more. I smoothly slid my way in between this sneezy man and the man and woman seemingly unaware. I helped push his body so he was facing the wall and me as he brought up his collar with one last hitching breath.

heh…hIH… HEH… EI’YEEESSSSSHHHHHUUUUUU!”

The woman let out a startled squeak as she practically jumped out of her shoes. The man managed to maintain his composure better. Both took a step sideways away from us. But Dave definitely wasn’t done. He kept the lower half of his face covered by his shirt as his chest continued to heave again.

HIH… HEEE’UUUUSSSSSHHHHHHOOOOOO!”

The desperation of that sneeze had me melting, however, I noticed the guy hit the button for the next floor and him and the woman quickly scurried out. Dave and I still had another floor to go. He seemed to sway a little so I put a hand on his back as he rested some of his weight against the wall. The metallic surface seemed to show every drop that escaped his tented shirt when he didn’t get his nose all the way down in time.

“It’s okay hun, just let that tickle out.”

Dave lifted his face a little, “hEH.. EHHH… EHHXSCUSE BE’EHHHHHHSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHOOOOOO!” His head snapped down into his shirt but spraying more of the wall this time.

I rubbed a hand comfortingly along his back still holding the closed tissue box in the other hand, too busy caught up in the moment of enjoying every second of those sneezes to remember he could probably use a few of the plush squares.

“Blessss you!”

Dave seemed to forget about the tissues as well because he brought his sleeve up to his nose. Opening his eyes, he blushed deeply as he saw the mess along the wall.

“I’m sure it will dry, let’s just get you back to bed.”

If I was being too forward Dave didn’t say anything and instead obediently led us both off the elevator and to his apartment.

Perhaps some caretaking, contagion, and when the doctor is well you get sick, he feels guilty for getting you sick and takes care of you. As for symptoms I love colds and mild to moderate fevers :)

More of those great build up descriptions and huge triples would make me very happy!

And onto part two...

His apartment had a similar floor plan to mine, entering almost straight into the living area and in clear view of the tiny kitchen. It didn’t really scream bachelor, but it had a bit of that feel with mismatching furniture. However, what it did scream was a sick person lives here. All surfaces had piles of used tissues. The kitchen had a sink full of coffee mugs that had probably been used for tea, especially since there was one of the little honey jars that looks like a bear out on the counter. Dave must have been set up on the couch previously as it had multiple blankets and what was probably his bed comforter.

“Do you want to be on the couch or bed?” Hopefully he didn’t think I was being too bossy or imposing. From the looks of it though he seemed too sick or defeated to care.

“Couch.” Dave wiped his nose on his sleeve and curled himself under the blankets. “Sorry, normally I’m a better host but…”

“I invited myself and you’re sick as a dog. Anything I can get you?”

When he didn’t answer I looked up and watched his head tilt back. The hitching was less audible this time but just as enjoyable to watch. The tip of his nose turned red and the color seemed to spread as his chest expanded. The itch taunted Dave as his eyes watered and he fumbled around trying to grab a tissue from the box on the floor. He must have forgotten that box was empty. I probably should have opened the box in my hand and given him tissues, but I felt glued in place as he finally couldn’t hold back any longer.

HIIIIIII’AAHHHHHSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHOOOOO!” He didn’t have time to cover given his failed plan of grabbing tissues and he sneezed openly towards his blanket. The light from the window was at the perfect angle, giving a clear view of the thick cloud of spray.

As Dave prepared for a second sneeze I finally opened the box of tissues in my hand and started to move towards him. There was no way to reach him in time though as he pulled a blanket up over his nose and hunched forward with an equally loud expulsion as before.

hAH, aaaAAAAHHHH’TCCCCHHHHHUUUUUUUU!” The blankets did nothing to muffle the sneeze but it did successfully contain the spray. My heart fluttered as his head titled back again and I wondered if he normally sneezed in triples.

This time I was close enough, and abandoning my fear of being seen as weird, I grabbed several tissues and held them loosely to his nose. His eyes opened wide before being forced closed again as he sneezed into my tissue covered hand.

“hEEEAAAHHH’PPPHHHHSSSSSHHHHuuuu!” I could feel the tissues fill with mucous with the force of the sneeze and did my best to not be too obvious about how turned on I was. His eyes blinked open and he took over holding the tissues to his nose.

“Bless you.”

I took a step back but held the fresh box of tissues out towards him. “Guess it’s a good thing I brought supplies.”

Dave nodded, pulling a few more from tissues from the box and trying to hide the mess filling the other ones, before blowing wetly. His nose was bright red when it finally appeared again above the mass of full tissues.

“Thank you. I’m so sorry if I got you with any of that. Everyone always comments about how big my sneezes are.”

If only he knew how sexy he was to me right now.

“I just cant seem to contain them when I get such a bad tickle in my nose. Snnnffff.”

Oh gosh, watching his nostrils flare and close as he sniffed set me even more on fire. Oh yeah, he was probably waiting for a response.

“It’s fine. My sneezes aren’t exactly small either when I’m sick. And my nose turns into a never ending running faucet,” I tried to be sympathetic.

He set his used tissues on the pile on the floor and grabbed some more blowing softly. “Well, I think I definitely have the running faucet thing down,” He smirked and I smiled back.

I noticed a thermometer off to the side, next to the empty box of tissues now that I was closer. “Have you taken your temp yet?” The heat I was feeling inside was calming a little now that his nose was more under control and I was switching into caretaking mode.

Dave blushed as he replied, “I tried, but then I have to breathe through my nose and I end up sneezing it out every time.” So much for that heat disappearing. “I did take some Tylenol when I got home though. I ran out of snnfffff cold meds about halfway through this.”

I was tempted to ask him to take his temp again but instead just reached my hand forward and pressed the back gently against his forehead.

“You definitely still have a fever but it doesn’t feel too bad. How are you feeling?”

Dave pulled the blankets up tighter around himself as he laid his head back down against the arm of the couch. “Better with you here,” he said tentatively as if testing the waters.

“That’s good, because I really like being here.” I blushed and he blushed and I’m pretty sure we were having a moment before my brain triggered my speech again.

“But really, how are you feeling?” I sat on the edge of the couch and rubbed a hand along his blanketed arm.

“Honestly, pretty ugh. Can’t seem to fully shake headache. Nose is itchy and runny and tickling the back of my throat. At least the sore throat has mostly been gone since day three or so.” He sniffed and I moved my hand to his temple and pushed some of his hair back gently with my thumb as if we’d always been close.

“Do you want me to go out and get more cold meds or make some tea?” I smiled as he relaxed with my touch.

“Tea would be great,” as I stood up he reached out of his blanket cocoon and grabbed my arm, “and Sam… thanks.”

Thank you @starpollen @Dream Moon @sneezemeister @funbusej @RipleyToo @Mr. Black Cherry Berry Tea It really means a lot getting feedback and knowing people are enjoying this. So welcome to part three...

Dave was already almost asleep by the time I finished tea and I startled him when I set it down on the coffee table in front of him. He sucked in a quick breath which was a mistake on his part but lovely for me.

His nostrils flared wide as he immediately snapped forward spraying all over my leggings.

"hEEEEE'AAHHHHSHHHHHOOOO!"

Fully awake now, he turtled his head into the blankets attempting to muffle the next two blasts.

"HHHHMMMMPPPSSSHHHHUUUUUU! heh... heh... hE'PPPPPSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH!"

The third sneeze sounded like it sprayed straight through his nose and I imagined the strings of snot that must be connecting his nose to the blanket.

"Bless you," I grabbed a few tissues and passed them to the hand that snaked out of the covers. I could just barely glimpse the lower part of his face as Dave pulled them in and blew and wiped and blew some more. "Thags,"

I was busy trying to quickly wipe some of the mess from my leggings as he spoke, not wanting him to be even more embarrassed. I wasn't quick enough though.

"Oh Samb, I'b soooo sorry. Ugh, you're defiditely goig to cadtch this. I should've jusd stayed away."

"Don't worry about it," I handed him a few more tissues, "I'm sure I'll be fine". However, I knew I wouldn't be if he was still contagious. My immune system has always been trash and I usually managed to catch everything. But he didn't need to know that.

Dave blew his nose til it honked like a trumpet. Poor guy's sinuses must be totally inflamed and sensitive.

"How about I go home and change and I'll check on you tomorrow?"

"I'm really sorry and you don't need to check on me if you don't want to..."

I cut him off, "But I do want to. You're a nice guy and I'd like to get to know you more. Plus everyone deserves to have someone who will help out when they're not feeling good."

"Okay, but if you don't show I won't hold it against you." Propping himself up, Dave finally took a sip of the tea I had set down. "Mmmm, this is really good. Thank you."

"It's not a problem," I gave his shoulder a quick rub before making my way to the door, "I have work tomorrow, but I'll swing by in the evening."

***

I watched the clock tick down. Some days I worked from home, some in office. This was an in office day and all I could think about was going to visit Dave. I had already used my lunch break to swing by the pharmacy getting some extra cold meds and tea, enough to restock my bathroom as well.

I felt fine for now but I knew the inevitable cold or flu would hit me soon enough. Part of me was excited, part of me dreaded it. Would Dave come take care of me too? Would he do it because he liked me or because he felt he owed me? He may be a messy sneezer, but how would he feel when I was the one being a sneezy mess? I looked back at the clock groaning, it had barely moved.

***

As I approached his door, there was no question whose place it was. Although slightly muffled by the door, his sneezes still echoed through the empty hall. It made me feel a little bit bad for his neighbors, but also incredibly jealous at the same time. I waited til he seemed finished before knocking.

“Hey Samb,” his voice was rough and congested, but he did look like he was feeling better. As Dave escorted me in I looked around a bit.

“You did not have to clean up for me,” the used tissues were mostly isolated to two stacks, the couch was down to the one comforter and the sink was empty near where I set my bag down.

“It’s fi-hih-finde, I heh’.” I watched as Dave put a finger under his nose, trying to talk through the itch, eventually turning completely away and bending at the waist as he sneezed into prayer style hands.

HHHHH’RRREEEESSSSHHHHOOOOO,” his body only straightened a little bit before he snapped down again, “hUUHHHH’TSSSSSSHHHHHUUUUUU, HHH’EEEEHHHKKKK’TTTTSSSSHHHHUUUU!”

I could see some of the spray make it around his hands and cascade onto the floor.

“Blesss you.”

Instead of turning to face me he went directly for the tissue box next to the couch and cleaned himself up a bit.

“Thag you. Egscuse be,” not holding back he gave one long bubbly blow before grabbing more tissues and wiping his reddened nose. “I really am feeling a lot better, just can’t seem to stop the sneezing.”

“Yeah, I could hear you in the hallway.” Woops, maybe should have left that part out.

Dave groaned and sat back on the couch, “Ugh, yeah, Mrs. Meyers next door is normally so nice but gosh she’s had a mean streak in her towards me this week. Said something about it’d be better if I just threw a party then keep her up all night with my sneezing. Even sleeping I can’t seem to get away from hih’ from this ti’ickle.

This time he grabbed several tissues and tried to muffle the next set of sneezes. I winced as Dave winced, trying to stifle the blast with the flimsy layers of paper. Maybe the first sneeze wasn’t quite as loud but it was still huge by most people’s standards.

Sitting next to him, I rubbed his back as his breath hitched and his head tilted back before smashing his nose into the already soaked tissues, “HHHHHHRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHhhhhh!”

“It’s okay, just let them out.”

His teary eyes looked at me uncertainly before he bent, sneezing openly between his legs, “HIIIIIII’AAHHHHHSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHOOOOO!”

I grabbed a few tissues and pretended to ignore the snot speckled floor and the snot dripping out of his nostrils. Still keeping my one hand on his back, I was addicted to the way his chest heaved under my touch with each sneeze.

“Bless you handsome.” Ugh, was that too much.

He chuckled as he tossed the wet mass of tissues to the side and wiped his face with the new ones I handed him.

“Pretty sure no one has called me handsome like this,” he blew his nose lightly before leaning back on the couch, forcing me to remove my hand.

“Well, maybe some people just have no taste,” I said jokingly and he smiled.

***

That evening was perfect as far as I was concerned. I cooked soup, from a can of course, and we talked while we ate. The canned soup felt so good on my throat; maybe too good if I was being honest. We joked and laughed, although his laughing was often cut short as he would break down into these low coughing fits muffled into his elbow. I’d rub slow circles on Dave’s back and he would apologize afterwards. Of course the apology was completely unnecessary, but it was cute anyways. At the end of the night he walked me to the door and as I turned to say goodbye his lips met mine and it felt like I was melting into him. Yup, this was definitely worth catching a cold for.

DAVE’S POINT OF VIEW THE NEXT DAY

It had been one of the best nights of my life. Most of my relationships had ended as soon as I caught some type of cold or flu. Partners were always either annoyed or embarrassed by my sneeze, and if anything Sam liked it, or at the very least didn’t mind. And that kiss, that kiss was mind-blowing.

I looked out the window. The sun was starting to set and I still hadn’t heard from Sam. I know I was feeling better, but after last night I at least expected a call. Or maybe it wasn’t as perfect for her. Was I being too pushy with the kiss? Did I scare her away. I thought she was into me, maybe she wasn’t. My stomach clenched in knots. Maybe she was just busy at work. Yeah, let’s stick to that. I eyed the bag on the table and realized it had an extra box of cold meds and tea. Maybe I would just go casually return those to her tomorrow. I could do that, right? No expectations, just me coming over to bring her stuff back. No big deal.
