wonderfulllife2013 Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 To say I have a photic reflex would be a a bit of an understatement. I’m one of those people who will sneeze every single time I go outside and the sun hits my eyes. I walk to the window, I sneeze. I drive, I sneeze. Bright sudden light inside does it too. Normally I sneeze 1-3 at a time but the sun can extend that out to 5 sneezes or even more. As you can imagine, it can make driving an adventure! This morning I was already dealing with allergies, sneeze count was already 5 or 6. I decided to drive to the store to get some things to make a late breakfast. Cloud cover was pretty heavy so I didn’t put on my sunglasses. I’m about half way to the store when the sun breaks out and shines across my face. I had about a three second warning before I hitched once and let go with deep roaring HEEEEEEEEEIII-SSSSSSCCHHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!💦💦💦💦💦💦💨💨💨💨💨💨💨. I kept my one hand on the wheel and attempted a futile cover but my steering wheel, dash, and windshield still got a shower. I managed to grab my hanky from the passenger seat before I sneezed three more monsters as I did my best to keep on the road. 😰 Luckily there was very little traffic. Does anyone else deal with photic sneezing like this?
muskysneeze Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Rarely get photic sneezes but I damn well have sneezed in my car many times! I'm the type who gets quite the enjoyment of seeing the sneeze mist surround me in my car especially if the sun is shining right into the cabin, of course I only do this when no one else is in the car! Love these descriptions from your obs, I can't help but to giggle at the water drop and cloud emojis to really emphasize the wetness of the sneeze you did! Bless you
krazykat Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 (edited) I can relate, particularly in winter and early spring when the sun is bright but low hanging in the morning. Can't wear sunglasses as its not light enough to wear safely, but still bright enough that as you drive round a corner and that sun hits your eyes.... Hhaaahhhtschiaooooow Absolutely no warning, and no time to cover. Just driving blind for a few seconds, and hoping you don't crash! Edited May 8, 2023 by krazykat
