In the face of the apathy aroused by my earlier post, I went out and bought the book.

The climactic sneezing scene is not at all bad. Here is something to whet your appetite;

" The woman in gumboots sneezed despairingly, 'Aaachoo, aaachoo.'

'D'you need a handkerchief?' Oliver offered.

'Got one, thanks.'

They were lowering Max into that bosom of green plastic.

'Man that is born of woman hath but a short time to live'.

Good Lord, thought Oliver, the sneezer is Sophy. "

Now read on. But the original scene between them, which I assumed was a sneezing-while - hiding - leading to naughtiness scene, is oddly tame; can it be because at that point Sophy is under age? No, I suspect not.

However, the fact remains that there is every possibility t hat he recognizes her from her sneeze. Intriguing.
