Self-obs (M)

Hi all, this is my first attempt at a self-obs, so please be easy on

me. My first blow in the morning is usually the

wettest. Well, that wasn't the case this morning. They have all been

pretty wet and somewhat gurgly this morning. I will describe all of

the best I can below:

First blow (approx 10:58 am PST):

I grabbed three tissues because I knew it was going to be a good

one. I rarely grab three tissues unless I know it's going to be a

lot. Well, I was right. I sniffled a little bit before I blew my

nose just to see how much would be up there. I took the three tissues

and folded them over (lengthwise) and put them up to my nose. I blew

my nose really soft at first, then a little bit harder towards the

end. I blew out of one nostril at a time, first my left, then my

right. It was pretty wet and gurgly with some honking in there.

After blowing twice out of each nostril, I folded the tissues over and

blew my nose again just to make sure I got everything.

Second blow (approx 10:59 am PST):

This time I only grabbed two tissues, because it didn't feel like

it was going to be as much. I felt a sneeze coming on, so I grabbed a

couple of tissues and put them up to my nose (without folding them)

and caught the sneeze. Immediately following the sneeze, I started

blowing my nose. I started blowing it soft at first, one nostril at a

time (left, then right). It was a little gurgly at the start, then

started getting drier towards the end. There are some honks in there

too.

Third blow (approx 11:00 am PST):

This blow wasn't as soggy as the rest of them, but was still a

little bit messy. I grabbed a couple of tissues and folded them over

(lengthwise). I sniffled again to see how much was up there, then I

put the tissues up to my nose and started blowing my nose. I blew out

of my left nostril first, then my right. I had a little bit of a honk

at the end.

Fourth blow (approx 11:02 am PST):

First, I sniffled a little to see how much was up there. I then

started complaining. I almost always do that when I have to blow my

nose a lot first thing in the morning. I usually complain about

having to blow my nose. In the mean time, I then grabbed two tissues

and folded them over (lengthwise). I put the tissues up to my nose

and started blowing (first left, then right). It was kinda soggy at

first, then got a little bit drier with some honking at the end.

I hope that I did okay with these self-observations. For all of the

blows, I used white Puffs (regular) tissues. It's a big gray

rectangle box. The tissues are kinda thin, that's why I always have

to use at least two. I almost always use at least two tissues to blow

my nose. The only tissues where I only use one tissue is Puffs Plus.

Even for those 3-ply Kleenex tissues, I still use two. Not sure why.

Kinda weird, huh?? I was sitting here in my chair with my head bent

down looking at the floor while I was blowing my nose (for all the

blows). Also, after I was done blowing my nose, I opened up the

tissues and looked at them. For all of them, the snot was clear (some

sticky, some runny).

For all four of these blows, I recorded them on sound files. If

anyone is interested, please send me an e-mail. Hope everyone likes this. And again, this

Hi Jeff, thank you for having the courage to write. I love blow by blow accounts, so keep it up... Did you have to blow the rest of the day, or was that it? Otherwise I assume you would have complained quite a bit. And sure, would love your files. Let me know if you want any in return.

Great obs, very descriptive and nicely paced. As a frequent, wet blower myself, I can certainly appreciate what your morning was like!

I must ask, however, have you ever considered using a handkerchief? The fact that one tissue isn't enough would seem to suggest that you are an ideal candidate to join those of us who prefer cotton to paper! My advice is try a hanky once, and you'll never go back.
