My first story post ^.^

I wrote this last night... it's not very long, but there will be more parts to come!

Sadly, I do not own any of the characters... T.T Kaori Yuki does.

Not too much sneezing in this portion, just building up to a cold.

But, nonetheless, I enjoyed writing this =3

Title: As you wish, My lord.

Author: Hana-chan!!! ^.^

Original anime: Godchild

Pairing: Cain/Riff ( Boy love... I warned you!!! >.< )

Picture of Cain- http://www.playbackstl.com/images/stories/0606/gcsmall2.jpg

Picture of Riff- http://www.angelicvoice.fr/galleries/cain/...child-riff2.jpg

The pictures don't relate to the story, they're just references.

Again, I warn you, this is boy love!!!! If you don't like it, look away!

( If you do, we should talk sometime ;D )

~*~

“ Oh Riff, it’s terrible, just terrible!” Oscar whined, deciding to unload his disappointment onto the manservant, as Cain was away on business. “ Another rejection from the loveliest, purest soul by which they call Mary… I do not think I shall be able to go on!” he threw himself upon a chair, next to the servant’s post.

Riff closed his eyes tightly for a moment, coaxing any patience he had left to surface. “ Sir Oscar, Perhaps you should give miss Mary some time. Who would accept a marriage proposal at the age of ten? And it is you that proposed after all….”

“ Are you insinuating that I should give up the quest for Mary’s hand?!” He gasped. “ I cannot even FATHOM why you would have so little faith in my determination!!!”

Riff’s eyebrow twitched as the annoyance grew. “ Perhaps you are coming on too strong…”

“ But if I don’t, how will she ever know how I feel?”

“ Perhaps she will respond better if you give her some space to breathe…”

“ But too much space and she surely take leave of me to be with someone else…”

“ You two were never together in the first pla-”

K’tchoo! ”

With the small interruption, Riff and Oscar’s gazes snapped to the front door. Cain was standing there, a crisp handkerchief pressed firmly over his nose. He stared back for a moment or two before sniffling pronouncedly and tucking the cloth away. “ Riff. Oscar.”

“ My lord!” Oscar bowed, remembering his manners as he heard his voice.

“ Oh Cain, it’s terrible, just terrible!!! Another rejection from the lovliest, purest-”

“ Not now, Oscar…” Cain sighed. He rubbed at his temples and retreated to his bedroom.

Although blowing Oscar off was a daily event for Cain, the tired tone of his voice worried Riff very much. He followed his master, Oscar scampering off in turn to find young Mary.

Pressing his forehead to the door, he knocked lightly. Inside the room, a soft blowing sound came to an end, and the sound of a startled jump did not go unnoticed. “ Lord Cain…?”

“ Oh, Riff… *sniff* Come in.”

Riff opened the door to see Cain was already laying down, and would have been content to nod off like that if he had not come along.

“ Please, help me undress…” he called to his manservant, giving him a reason to stay. He pushed himself up off the bed, holding his arms out and letting Riff slide him out of his clothes.

“ How did it go?” Riff asked, trying to keep concern from his voice.

Cain sniffled sharply again before speaking. “ Well… I got the job done. It was a rather boring task though, and we got caught in several nasty storms along the way.”

“ And you have been feeling…?” Riff smoothly slide into the conversation.

However, Cain caught it. He swiveled his head to look at the older man, giving him a smirk worthy of the devil himself. “ Is this about earlier? Honestly Riff, you should worry less… you wouldn‘t want that beautiful skin of yours to wrinkle.” he reached up and touched his cheek.

By then, Riff had mastered restraining a blush in the presence of his master. The physical contact was pushing even his limits though, and he broke away to help him into his night clothes. “ Well, My lord… you just seem so tired.”

“ I am, I confess that I haven’t gotten a wink of sleep since I first left on Monday. And I’ve been plagued by a terrible headache…”

The headache part worried Riff. With all they had been through in the past years, it was his natural response to assume his master had been poisoned in some elaborate attempt on the part of . He put his forehead to his master’s. Or… it could be just a cold. “ Then rest will do you well.” he nodded, noting that Cain felt a bit warmer then usual. “ Shall I leave now?” He asked, seeing his master lower himself into bed.

Cain shook his head, an emotion that Riff couldn’t quite read coming over his features. “Stay, at least until I fall asleep…”

Riff smirked, complying happily. “ As you wish, My Lord.”

Cain sleeping peacefully and spread out on his lap, Riff occupied himself with his news of Delilah. He had received several threatening letters, although he failed to report them to the Earl. He seemed troubled enough as it was, and he had just come home. He wasn’t going to load another burden onto him now. He ran his fingers through the young master’s hair, marveling at how strong he was. He had known Cain since he was just a boy, and from that day he had dealt with murders and suicides, poisonings and trickery, heartache and plots for the ultimate destruction of lower society, and yet STILL managed to keep sane. “ I surely would have lost it, had it not been for him…” He murmured to himself.

He had to admit, he must have dozed off after that sentiment, because the next thing he noticed was Cain beginning to move restlessly in his arms. Blinking his eyes open, he looked down just in time to catch the young Earl, half awake, rubbing at his nose boyishly. As he seemed to rise into full consciousness, he regained his composure and began searching for the handkerchief he had with him earlier. The attempt failed and Riff began looking for it as Cain buried his nose in the wrist portion of his sleeve. “ K.. Ki!!! K’tCHOO! Hhh’Tshuu! Ehhhh… ’Tchoo! Uhn…” He closed his eyes, then seemed to remember something. They snapped right back open, staring up into the concerned eyes of his manservant. “ Riff… I thought you were sleeping…”

“ I got up just a few moments ago… My lord, are you sure you’re feeling alright?” Instinctively, his hand came down to touch his forehead. “ You seem a bit on the warmer side, and after that little fit….”

“ Last I checked it wasn’t a sin to sneeze.” Cain’s voice sounded a bit thicker with congestion. He chuckled a bit, keeping in good humor despite the embarrassment that was quickly seizing him. He found the handkerchief and blew into it as softly as he could, although this seemed to stir up the tickle again. This time around he was awake enough to quiet himself properly. “ Ehhh… choo. T’choo.” He pinched his nose and sighed. “ Chances of dropping this and going back to sleep?” He asked his manservant.

Riff smirked. “ Very slim, my Lord, very slim…” He gently eased Cain off of his lap, only for a moment, to retrieve a blanket and a thermometer from his room. “ Open.” He coaxed Cain like he did when the Earl was very little and refused to take medicine, much less admit he was sick at all. A trait that stuck. Riff thought to himself, tucking the thermometer under Cain’s tongue, then bringing the blanket over him.

Cain removed it at once. “ I’m fine, you seriously need to stop worrying. I think I can already see some damage.” He teased, though his voice was monotone, poking at Riff’s cheek.

“ Feeling fine? So I can go back to my room?” He knew that he would never dare walk out on the Earl in this condition, although Cain did not know that and it was proved to be a very effective bargaining chip.

Leveling with him, Cain shook his head. “ My head still hurts…” he offered, although that was all he would confess to. “ And besides, you haven’t seen me in days. Didn’t you miss me?”

More then you know… Riff smiled to himself.

Cain continued. “ So, won’t you stay the night?” He moved over subtly, leaving room for Riff to rest.

His manservant smirked. “ As you wish, My lord.”

Ick... didn't really put myself into this one. But I promise there will be more, and hopefully coming more often!!!

By the way, I think I forgot to mention what Delilah was... it's an secret sect of society with the goal of overthrowing all other sects... in the book, it seems more like a caste they are trying to completely eliminate and leave only the best of the best. Delilah was actually founded and headed by Cain's previously assumed-dead father. It causes a not-so-happy end for Cain and Riff... but enough of that... onto the fluff =3

~*~

The rest of the night was uneventful, at least for them. There were some further issues with Oscar and Mary, and the police almost got involved, but Oscar left the premises before he had to be escorted out.

Riff woke with the sun, as he usually did. It wasn’t like he had to or anything- little work had to be done before seven in the morning, but he still got up two hours earlier simply out of habit. He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes before noticing that something was missing. He usually slept alone, which was why he had not been alarmed at first- but now he remembered that he was in the Earl’s room, and more importantly alone right now. He threw off the covers. “ Lord Cain?” He poked his head around the estate until he found his master in one of the guest rooms. Wondering why his master was in here, he walked over and put his hands on the Earl’s shoulders. “ Lord Cain…?”

“ Ri- T’shoo! Ehhhh… Et’CHEW! Oooo…” Cain looked very tired as he looked up at the manservant. “Riff…Shouldn’t you be sleeping…?”

“ And you?” Riff asked softly. “ Cain, I honestly think you might have come down with something…”

Cain sighed heavily. “ Don’t be silly, Riff. I-” He stopped suddenly, a look of surprise flooding his features. “ You called me by my first name…”

Riff blinked. Damn. So caught up in his thoughts, he supposed it had just slipped out. “ I’m sorry, Sir, I didn’t realize… I was just so worried, It must have-”

“ No, no… don’t apologize, Riff.” Cain interrupted, smirking. “ Years of trying to get you to call me by my name… and all I had to do was catch a cold?”

“ So you admit it?” Riff asked in an amused tone. Sitting behind the young man, he slid his hand over to cover his forehead. “ Then you really should be resting, no?”

Cain sighed, frustrated. “ I did not admit to any… anything…” His voice went a few pitches higher, a strange expression coming over him. “ Hhh… Ihhh… Ihhh’Shoo!!!”

Riff could not help but smile at the helplessness his master was displaying. In one swift move, he scooped Cain up in his arms and began walking back to his room.

“ Riff…!!!” Cain whined as they went back to the bedroom. “Leave me in the guest room… I don’t want you to catch this!!!”

“ You know… it is your room.” Riff pointed out. “ If anything, I should be the one leaving.” He put his master on the bed and tucked him in.

“ But you were sleeping and I didn’t want you to leave, but it’s not fair for you to have to suffer through this too…” Cain sighed and closed his eyes.

“ Don’t worry about that, Cain.” He took the chance of calling him by name again. “ It’s just a shame… I know how you do hate medicine…”

Cain’s eyes widened. “ Hey! At least give this a chance to ride out!!”

Riff chuckled. “ Fine. But you have to promise to rest. And if you don’t feel better in a few hours, I’ll have no choice but to give it to you.” He slipped into bed beside Cain.

Cain sighed. “ Riff…? Just…” His voice grew softer. “ Don’t leave. Please.”

Riff smiled and put an arm around Cain. He leaned forward and kissed his forehead. “ As you wish, My lord…”

Ok, first forgive me for not commenting before - I'm loving this piece. Secondly - with special reference to the above quote - omg, I love it! The back-and-forth easy banter, the double slips of the tongue... then that last part where he's trying to talk and then he has to sneeze and... Ohh yes, very well done! I look forward to the next part.

Again, thank you Chui and Mewling for the fantastic reviews ^.^

And sorry it took so long for part four to come along.

Not much sneezing ( T.T ) but *gasp*

Plot development?!

~*~

Usually, it didn’t take Riff so long to realize he had dozed off. However, that was not the case now, as they were currently receiving a rude awakening. Being shaken awake, he detested with a swat of his hand, surprised to hit cold flesh. Opening his eyes, he saw Cain being awakened in the same manner, gaze focusing in on the culprit. “ Oscar… Oscar, can’t this wait?” He sat up, pushing the man away from Cain. “This isn’t the best time, as you can well s-”

“ It’s Mary… they’ve taken Mary!!!” He interrupted.

The quite words made the room still for a split second, panic mounting until Riff threw off the covers and could see his master doing the same. ‘’ They?” He pressed the man for details. Surely Oscar couldn’t know much about Delilah… but after the last incident concerning the coffin maker’s daughter sending assassins after him… maybe he was catching on.

“ These men… they just came into the house, and set off some sort of smoke bomb… when it cleared, they were gone.”

“ What were you even doing on the pre.. premi… Ihhhh I’KIshoo!”

Riff glanced over at Cain, the marred response giving him away. He couldn’t exactly tell him to rest through this one… although he wished he could. So he decided to agree with his master. “ What were you doing here anyway…? I mean, how did you get in? Master rigged all the enteries with poisoned weaponry…”

Oscar laughed. “ Do you think that could keep me out? Alas, nothing in the world could prove stronger then my love for miss Marry Weather. AND ONE DAY I KNOW THAT I WILL TAKE HER HAND IN MARRIAGE AND ON OUR WEDDING NIGHT, WE WILL MAKE BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL L-”

Riff wasn’t surprised when Cain’s hand flew across his cohort’s cheek. “ There’s t..ti… time for that later!” He sniffled sharply, his finger sliding under his nose for a moment until he was satisfied. “ Which way were they heading?”

“ No clue. In all the smoke, I couldn’t see anything…” Oscar admitted. “ I’m going to go check for tracks outside.” he left the room and Riff got up, finding some warm clothes for his master. “ Chances you’ll sit this one out?” He sighed softly.

Cain grinned, repeating the manservant’s earlier answer. “ Slim to none.” He gave a shrug, swinging his feet over the side of the bed.

Riff helped him out of his night clothes, into an outfit that was usually worn on the coldest days of winter. He slid a hand over his forehead. “ But you’re still warm…”

The earl redirected the hand, sliding it away from his forehead and closer to his lips to lay a gentle kiss on the top of it. “ Don’t worry… if I am feeling unwell when the time comes, I will do my best to sit it out. But in the meantime, we both know Oscar doesn’t have a prayer and I don’t want you hurt.” Worry seeped into his features. “ They still have that poison, you know. The one that Jirizable cured last time… I don’t understand why he would do something like that. “ he shook his head. “ It’s not normal. Usually, he would take every chance he got to hurt me. So why…?” Biting his lip, he got into the possibilities. “ What if it’s still active in your system? What if they’re just waiting for the right time to trigger it once more…? Or what if there are more of those freakish spider things to inject the poison all over again?”

“ You worry too much.” Riff silenced Cain for the moment, kissing his forehead. “ I can assure you… I’m going to be fine.”

“ Promise me.” Cain’s voice lowered and he gripped Riff’s hand.

The manservant looked down. Promises rarely worked in his favor, and he would not be able to live with himself should something happen after a promise like that. So instead, he brought forth familiar words.

“ As you wish, My lord…”

Okay, so VERY LITTLE plot development... but it's definitely the start of something

I have been unfaithful to this story T.T

Although, I promise, you can expect more coming soon!

~*~

They always had to take a carriage.

A rather amusing part of the mission, seeing as it was frequently the only normal activity involved. Oscar would day dream. Cain would fill in on necessary details. Except today. Respectively switching places, Riff was the most vocal of the three all the way there.

“ I dare not even imagine what horrors they are putting young Mary through right now! What if they’ve hurt her? What if they’ve stripped away her innocence??!!”

“ Oscar.” Riff snapped quietly.

Cain sighed. “ According to the tracks, they’ve approached more… unfortunate areas of this town. Oscar, keep a look out. I wouldn’t be surprised if the tracks branched off into different directions or disappear altogether.”

The suddenly silent male nodded and took a glance out of the driver’s window. The tracks in the snow continued as normal for a mile or so, then abruptly came to a stop as the Earl had predicted.

In the meanwhile, Riff worried about Cain. Although he was also afraid for the young girl Mary, he was Cain’s servant first and foremost. He sought to make eye contact, covey silent messages, but that could not be done without a gentle nudge.

“ Yes?” Cain asked him softly and Oscar told the driver to stop.

Riff bit his lip, loosing whatever he had been planning to say when he heard his master’s voice. It sounded so… tired. Tired and concerned and disappointed. At himself? The noise of the moving carriage stopped, and another caught his attention.

“ Atschew!” There were a few quick inhales, then a slightly louder “ AtSCHEW!”

Riff dug around in his pocket, retrieving a handkerchief and offering it to Cain. There was a muffled ‘thank you’ before the boy replaced his hand with the cloth.

“ Christ, Cain… you sound awful.” Oscar so bluntly stated.

“ Oscar!” Riff snapped again.

Snnf. It’s alright. I probably do.” Cain considered giving Riff the handkerchief back, but in the end decided against it.

Riff let Oscar go outside, murmuring something about Mary again before advancing towards the young Earl to press his cool fingertips to the boy’s forehead. “ You promised to sit it out…” He reminded.

“ When the time comes.” He ducked away from the hand. “ And besides, I feel fine, why would you think otherwise?”

Riff rolled his eyes. “ Because I’ve known you for too long. You have very few allergies to speak of, and you never sneeze otherwise. You actually get some color in your face when you have a fever. And anyway, you’re a terrible liar. To my at least.” He let a grin slip through.

“ That may be.” Cain’s tone of voice was slightly amused. “ But it doesn’t mean I’m deathly ill. I promise. So stop worrying!” He stood up and slipped out of the carriage to stand beside Oscar. “ You do understand that our tracks will have to be covered, right? Don’t go running all over the place, stupid!”

Riff sighed to himself and paid the driver before getting out. “ As you wish, my Lord…”

:( EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Another Godchild fan HUZZAH :lol:

You know the MOMENT I laid eyes on my first volume of Godchild (and, alas, my only so far), I KNEW that there should be LOTS of Cain/Riff slash with wrongness included. And I've wanted for so long to write some... and here you went and stole my thunder, I mean, did the work for me :(

This is THRILLING! And you did a lovely job! Simply adorable! I'll look forward to the rest!
