The softness of the cloth and the way it feels against your face when you blow your nose or sneeze into it; I find using a handkerchief to be a very sensual experience. The fact that it's something special, a possession that you have chosen for taking care of your nasal needs; something permanent, that you wash and iron and set out with your clothes for the next day. I love the fact that hankies are so much easier to pull out of your pocket in a hurry than a tissue, and also that hankies are much larger and more absorbent. I also love the colors and patterns, and the fact that you can choose different types of hankies for different occasions (white for formal, patterns for casual, etc).I hope this helps; I'm sure that some of the other hankie aficiondos here will come up with other reasons as well.
