Blah!?
Hey everyone, here's another quickie story. Yes, another one. What? They're fun!Special thanks to Sigrith for coming up with the idea! I couldn't have done this without you!Anyway, here it is:"They're coming!"All 20 or so people crammed into the living room took their places, meaning they all frantically dove for cover behind various pieces of furniture. Thankfully, there was only one way into the room, so all the surprise party guests only had to conceal themselves from one direction. The happy couple would never see this coming.Mallory, the young woman who had organized the party, dove behind the couch in the center of the room. So far, everything was going perfectly. She had never heard of a surprise anniversary party before, but why should they be restricted to birthdays? In any case, Mallory was a lifelong friend of the bride, and even though it was only her one-year anniversary, she knew she had to do something special. So, she gathered up as many friends as she could and somehow managed to sneak them all into her friend's house while they were out. Mallory was so overjoyed with her success that she started to squirm a little in happiness. For years, everyone constantly told her that she had a tendency to overreact, but Mallory didn't care. Her face scrunched up in an awkward smile and she rocked side to side on her elbows, trying her best not to make a sound. However, Mallory's self-celebration quickly came to an end. The young woman felt the tiniest touch of something warm and wet on the tip of her turned-up nose. Her eyes snapped open and she saw a fluffy gray cat sitting in front of her. Almost reflexively, her index finger shot up to her nose and swept back and forth under her long, curved nostrils. "Shoo!" she whispered, waving at the cat with her free hand. The cat took a step back to avoid her hand, but it approached her again. Mallory's nose began to tickle as the cat's dander invaded. "No! Go away!"The cat sat down in front of the panicking woman and licked Mallory's nose again. "S-stop it!" Mallory's eyes had started to itch and water too, a sure sign of a full-blown allergy attack on the way. She vigorously rubbed her nose with her index finger, causing it to bend back and forth across her face. The cat watched what she was doing for a second, and then it turned around. Mallory almost sighed with relief when she thought the cat was finally leaving her alone, but instead, it raised its tail and brushed it against her tickly nostrils.Mallory was incredibly flustered. It was just a cat, but at the same time it seemed like it was actively trying to ruin her surprise party. Even still, she didn't dare shove the cat away, that just wasn't something she would do. Resigning herself to defeat, Mallory decided to accept her fate. "Hihhh… Hiihhhh… Hiieehhhh…" Mallory's head tipped back with each hitched breath, and by the end of it she was so distracted that she didn't hear the door to the living room swing open. "Hiiiiihhhh… Hix-Hiex-Heeix!""HIIIXXXIIIEEEWWW!!!""Mallory!?" Sandra, Mallory's lifelong friend called out upon hearing the distinctive sneeze that she immediately recognized."Um… Meow.""No, that's you, Mallory. Come on out. What are you doing here?""Hiss.""I mean it."Mallory shot up from behind the couch, finally getting away from the cat. However, her nose was still tickling like crazy. "N-nothing," she said, feeling very embarrassed, "just, um, doing some... Cleaning?" Mallory started to giggle just like she always did when she was nervous. Sandra sighed and smile simultaneously, and her husband remained silent out of awkwardness and surprise."Oh Mallory, you haven't changed one bit," Sandra said, approaching her friend. "You're such a kid at heart." Sandra hugged Mallory over the top of the couch, and just as she did, the guests leaped from their hiding places yelling "Surprise!" Sandra laughed and pulled Mallory closer. "And still throwing surprise parties." Mallory blushed, remembering she had thrown Sandra several surprise parties when they were younger. However, she quickly forgot her embarrassment as another sneeze started to build up."Hihh… Hihhhh… Hiiiee… Hix… Hixxihhh… HIIIXXXXIIIIIIEEEEWWWW!!!""And you've still got that sneeze."---I hope you all enjoyed it! These quick, random stories are a lot of fun, so there will probably be even more from me in the future. Edited October 23, 2011 by Blah-San Link to comment
