Why do we start so young?

I think it's intersting that so many of us have recollections of having enjoyed sneezes and sneezy stories when we were only like 5-6 years old. I mean, how many other kids that age care about "porn" or "looking at people"?

Of course at that age you probably don't think about any of it in a sexual way, but still. Why do we start liking sneezing so early? Are you "born" a fetichist?

^This. It's well documented that almost from birth children are capable of becoming physically aroused, so it's not that surprising that might also be capable of a somewhat more psychological arousal like a fetish.

No. It's something you develop.

We don't know that for sure I suspect it's probably a combination of nature and nurture. Something that certain people have genetic a predisposition for, but that only occurs as a result of external stimulation after birth.

I agree. I specifically remember becoming sexually aroused around the age of 4 or 5 due to the fetish. Of course, I had no idea what was happening at the time.

Oh yikes. I have a few super uncomfortable memories of being aroused as a kid- not knowing what was going on- and feeling so wrong and not wanting anyone to touch me or be near me. Ick

Sexuality is such a complex thing that can't be put into boxes. I find all the correlations amongst people with this fetish just so fascinating

This will probably sound embarrassingly stupid. but sneezing stuff affected me as long as I can remember and I remember thinking I was the only person that hard-ons happened to. like there was something wrong with me. and the fact that something that I could not connect to physical anatomy in any way was making this happen just just made me more sure that it was some odd phenomenon that only happened to me. even after finding out that erections were a very normal thing and (later) finding out that, while fairly uncommon, there are plenty of people who also get them from sneezing, I never really shook that feeling of being "not normal" its just so deeply ingrained into me from feeling that way since shortly after being a conscious person.

interesting! although I guess I haven't heard this question asked of people outside the SF forums, so I guess I wouldn't know what age my friends had their first experiences with it. maybe i'll do a super-not-scientific ask-around this weekend (my friends are a pretty open bunch)
